Presenting on my personal online portfolio was a great experience since not many presentations are
individual–based. With many assignments leading up to one major task, students were challenged
throughout the semester to eventually present themselves to a fictitious group of employers.

I have had the experience to teach the class four times during the semester and each of them has
helped me to learn a lot. Dr. Walenciak has been traveling a lot so I have been in charge of the class
those times. The first time, I was terrified the day before of the class. I needed to talk about the
chapter of Ostrander's book that talks about the history of Christian education. I prepared myself a
lot and the day of the class I divided the time so the students could work on a project that we have. I
try to summarize the chapter while explaining it. I planned to talk for 25 minutes and I ended up
talking for 15 minutes. I was talking too fast and skipping important points without realizing about
that. At the time of the class, I felt confident but I was a little nervous and it was harder to express
my ideas in English but I manage to overcome that. I was able to explain everything but I was a
little disappointed that I could not meet my time goal. After that, I ask them some questions to see if
they have understood the topic. It was interesting because I could feel somehow the feeling of the
teacher when nobody participates in the class. At the beginning, everyone was quiet but after a

Looking at the experiences this Mod during the Leadership Communications class, there were many
learning and self–development opportunities that will definitely help me in my career. Since I will
be working in the consulting industry, the communication skills are very important to succeed in this
field. You have to work with the C–Suite level executives and constantly present to them your

My volume and background noise was perfect and I made sure to try and keep a smile in my voice
to try and mask my nervousness! Based on the feedback of my audience, I do believe that my
message was received loud and clear on the presentation. Also, the questions from the others made

This is something I need to work on because I feel I did great explaining my main points but from

Working On A Group Is Not An Easy Thing Working
When working on a group you have to be a listener and a leader at the same time, you have to make
sure you help your group. Being in a group is not an easy thing working with people can be
challenging specially when they work at a different rhythm or even a different way, I've had

In his persuasive piece "The Cognitive Style of PowerPoint" Edward Tufte, although skillfully
delivering his anti–PowerPoint point of view to an audience of presenters, is unable to provide a
fully convincing argument against the famous presentation program. Tufte's "The Cognitive Style of
PowerPoint" is a direct and well–versed attack against PowerPoint. With a humorous but confident
tone, Tufte provides an easy, captivating read. At this point, the sheer charm of the text alone creates
a receptive audience who, even if they disagree with his words, continues reading nonetheless. With
key phrases such as "a conclusion that can only be reached by not reading Miller's paper" (Tufte

For example, Tufte states that "we should find a better tool to make presentations" (Tufte 159), but
offers little alternatives. His only alternative, in fact, is to revert time and distribute paper hand outs
and verbal presentations. (Tufte 160) A fair strategy for presentation, but lacking in regards to
utilizing the potential of modern technology. This paper–flipping alternative is also condemned by
his own anti–PowerPoint message of "audiences endure a relentless sequentiality, one damn slide
after another" (Tufte 158) by simply replacing the word "slide" with "page". He also attacks
PowerPoint presentations' "preoccupation with format not content" (Tufte 158) while ironically
littering his own text with photos and graphics, three out of four pages containing an image. This
allows the audience to raise an eyebrow at his own hypocrisy. Tufte's argument is a series of
contradictory statements and, although he complains about "PP Phluff" (Tufte 158), his piece seems
