Similarities Between The American In The 70s And 80s
American in the 70s and 80s had increased crime and murder. Additionally, the 70s and 80s saw an
increase of serial killers. During these two decades and the end of the 60s, there were noticeable
numbers of serial killers and murderers: John Lennon's assassination 1980, The Zodiac Killer late
1960s to mid–1970s, Manson's Family 1969, Ted Bundy 1970s, John Wayne Gacy, etc. Americans
feared being murdered or victim a crime. Horror movies were starting to be inspired by reality,
Americans were fearing serial killers. The 70s and 80s horror films were composed of slasher films,
which was inspired by increasing murder and crime rates of those decades, one of the most notable
slasher horror movies that were inspired by real life was the Texas Chainsaw

Why Is It Important To Avoid A Chainsaw?
Most people will agree that chainsaw are incredibly dangerous, but following these chain saw safety
guidelines, using a chainsaw will be safer and more efficient. The first thing you should know is to
look up when you approach a tree that you will cut. This allows you to notice any potential falling
hazards such as loose or dead branches, wires, and other trees. Because chainsaws are designed to
work best at full throw, before cutting you should make sure the engine is fully accelerated.
Operator balance is crucial to maintaining control of the device. As such, you should avoid
overextending or reaching higher than your shoulders. You can minimize kickback hazards if you
are aware of what causes them. Positioning your left hand correctly,

A Road Trip To Florida In The 1970's
During one summer night in the 1970's, a group of teenagers planned to go out on a road trip down
from Massachusetts to Florida, not knowing of the disturbing future ahead of them. The group of
teenagers was comprised of both boys and girls, an even number, three of each gender. The four just
finished their sophomore year in college and were planning a full vacation of adventure, drinking
and nothing but fun. Riding down through several states along the way, they stopped occasionally to
get supplies and then walk around and explore in towns and fields. However, once they reach
Georgia, which is right above Florida, it all comes to a paranormal stop as they will be scarred for
life. It was the last month for college students to get out of college and have their three to four
months of summer vacation. The four guys were all very close friends, had some plans that summer
to go down south with some girls. Chris Skies was the college student to first initiate the subject
about their trip, eventually pursuing the rest to go along with them. The other two were Daniel
Crank and Jericho Blue. Chris and Jericho were the two guys that were smart and made good
decisions, whereas the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The roads and air became thick and disgusting, making them sweaty and constantly having to get
out of their car to go and stretch and cool off. They stopped several times on the road, but their last
stop was at a neighborhood, where all houses were burned down and abandoned, except one which
still remained up and well. As foolish as they were, the college kids became anxious to enter
hospitality and receive directions and possibly a cool drink. As they were walking towards the
house, they noticed a basement window creak open and close quickly, with a shadowy figure
moving away. All unexpectedly, the door swung open and there stood a man and woman who
seemed friendly and inviting, a bit too

Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 and the Dark Shadow Within Essay
The horror genre is synonymous with images of terror, violence and human carnage; the mere
mention of horror movies evokes physical and psychological torture. As remarked by noted author
Stephen King "the mythic horror movie...has a dirty job to do. It deliberately appeals to all that is
worst in us. It is morbidity unchained, our most base instincts let free, our nastiest fantasies
realized." (King, 786). At manageable intervals, we choose to live these horrific events vicariously
through the characters in horror movies and books as a means of safely experiencing the "what if".
The horror genre allows us to explore our fears, be it spiders, vampires, loss of our identity, or death
of a loved, under the most fantastic and horrible ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Horror employs this archetype, which is similar to Freud's description of the battle between the ego
and the id, the struggle between the normal and abnormal. The shadow archetype represents the
inner person we try to keep under control and hidden as much as possible, in contrast to our
outward, everyday personality (Fordham, 1966, p.49). Solomon suggests that the monster in film
and literature is our surrogate, a representative of our baser instincts, our "uncontrollable impulses
toward evil" (Solomon 795). This theme is evident in Drayton Sawyer's character in Texas Chainsaw
Massacre 2. One side of Drayton is the small businessman, enjoying the win of the local chili cook–
off; he may be a little abrasive but he is socially adept. Drayton comments "No secret, it's the meat.
Don't skimp on the meat. I've got a real good eye for prime meat. Runs in the family. Must'a missed
peppercorn." (Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2). His explanation provides a window into both sides of
his personality, the inner cannibal and the exterior businessman. He hides his dark shadow, the side
that supports his cannibalistic family traditions and serves human meat to unsuspecting customers.
By identifying with the monster, be it a werewolf or maniac with a chainsaw, the viewer learns to
reconcile the dichotomous personality within each of us; the

How Atv's Work
Thesis statement: All terrain vehicles are helpful and useful and I will explain how they work and
how to fix them in this paper.
Outline: Inn this paper I will discuss ATV 's and general knowledge and getting them wet. I also will
discuss their origin and how they need care and how to keep them doing good for a long time.
What is an ATV? It is an All Terrain Vehicle, also called three or four wheelers. It is also called a
quad or ATV. An ATV is built to go where other vehicles cannot go. ATV 's are also built to handle a
lot of stress and abuse. ATV 's are virtually indestructible; however, they have a few weaknesses and
it is important to know and understand those few weaknesses. You should always do a complete

You generally replace the piston, rings and valve guide seals. If you do a lot of water riding you
should do maintenance more often. If you should your quad drown out follow these four simple
steps.
(Microsoft Encarta 96 Internal Combustion Engine) Step one is to pull the quad out of the water.
Pop the lid off the airbox to see if that 's where the trouble is. If there is water in the spark plug dry it
off and set it aside. Dry with a cloth, if possible. If the air filter is wet ring it out. Step two is if it 's a
four stroke, turn off the key and kick the water out. Watch it blow out the exhaust and cylinder head.
Step three is to drain the float bowl. (If you suspect that water got in the tank )Which is very hard,
set it on it 's wheels and let the water fall to the bottom and turn the fuel petcock to reserve and drain
for a second or so. Step four is once all the water is out is to replace the spark plug and the air filter.
Pull the choke and try to start it. It will probably spit and sputter for a few minutes but DO NOT hit
the throttle or you could do serious damage. If it won 't start you better start pushing it home you
probably have gotten the stator wet or one of the CDI boxes. which are sealed and are hard to get to.
If you can check over the exposed electrical connections and dry them and get it to start good. but if
it still will not start go home and begin the stripdown which involves a complete inspection of all

Tracey: A Short Story
"Let's wrap things up", Mary said. Timothy, Tracy, and Mary were all in the process of closing Wal–
Mart tonight for work. Timothy was grabbing his keys to head to the door when all of suddenly the
doors slammed shut and locked. Mary, Tracey and Timothy all shot each other a petrified look. Not
knowing what's going on they try to get a hold of their manager only to find out they have no signal.
While trying to brainstorm on what to do they hear the intercom come on. "Let's play a game, hide
and seek last one alive wins." They all look at each other with frightened looks. Timothy says, "Let's
try getting out of here again." When they look at the doors again they realized someone locked it

sees the same dark figure she saw before, but the figure had something in its hand. Tracey saw that
the figure had a gun in its hand. The dark figure was looking all around the store looking for her and
Mary. Tracey spots mary but doesn't suspect mary seeing her. But all at once they run in to get the

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning is a prequel to the 2003 movie. This movie is about
two brothers who decide to go on a road trip with their girlfriends before one brother goes off to the
Vietnam War. They get into an accident, and one member of the Hewitt family is there. He decides
to take the young adults back to his house where they are tortured and tormented by the Hewitt

A person who is less differentiated will seek to please or accommodate other family members (Hill,
Hasty, & Moore, 2011). They do not agree with Sheriff Holt, but Leatherface, Luda May, and Uncle
Monty all try to accommodate the sheriff. For instance, when the sheriff brings home the biker girl
he murdered, he wants Thomas to butcher the body. Leatherface looks confused and hesitates, but
the sheriff says, "Meat is meat. Bone is bone. Get it done (Liebesman, 2006)." So, Leatherface does
what he is told to please his uncle. Also, it is known the Hewitt family is not highly differentiated
people because these types of people are able to separate emotion from cognition (Hill, Hasty, &
Moore, 2011). The Hewitt family all act out of high emotions. They believe all hippies and bikers
are all the same, and somehow they are out to get them. This can eventually lead to emotional
reactivity and cutoff. Emotional cutoff is when family members start avoiding each other. The does
not always have to mean physical distance, it can also include emotional distance. For example, it
can include an instance of avoidance in an emotionally charged situation in the presence of family
(McCollum, 1991). One example that the Hewitt family demonstrates this is at the dinner table.

Texas Chainsaw Massacre Helped with the Expansion of the LGBT Movement
Texas Chainsaw Massacre pushes the boundaries of cinematic horror. The movie has the viewers
infer the gore and deaths of some of the characters. It does not show the blood or the dismembering
of the victim, but the viewer still feels as if they watched it actually happen. The director Tobe
Hooper has the viewer realize on their own the hidden messages within his film. The film has been
correlated to the representation of the slaughterhouse thus promoting vegetarianism. Also has been
related to the Vietnam War with America sending its youth to the war where they will die. It even
has been compared to the draft, and the ways American youth would try to escape it. These theories

How did pressures for financial performance contribute to an organizational culture that tried to
manipulate quarterly sales and to influence investors?.
Introduction
When John Stewart and Thomas Clark founded the Chicago Flexible Shaft Company in Dundee,
Illinois, in 1897, they probably never expected the company would be facing ethical and financial
dilemmas more than a century later. Like many corporations, the firm has changed and faced many
crises. It has acquired rival companies, added totally new product lines, changed its name, gone
through bankruptcy, gone public, rebounded, restructured and relocated.
Sunbeam is a well–known and recognized designer, manufacturer, and marketer of consumer
products. Sunbeam products are considered household staple items and are known for their use in
cooking, health care, and personal care. Over its 100 years of operation, Sunbeam has grown and
changed according to societal needs. It operates facilities in Canada, England, Hong Kong, Mexico,
the US, and Venezuela.
In June of 1996, Sunbeam Corporation needed help. Its earnings had been rapidly declining since
December 1994, and by 1996, the stock was down 52 percent and earnings had declined by 83
percent. Sunbeam also had 12,000 employees as well as 26 factories worldwide, 61 warehouses, and
6 headquarters. This when Albert Dunlap also known as "Chainsaw Al came into the picture. He
received his reputation as one of the country's meanest executives because

Overpopulation of the human race has resulted in a multitude of carbon dioxide gas getting trapped

April 2nd Chainsaw Reflection
Out of the chapters we've read this week, chapter "April 2nd – Chainsaw" drew my interest the
most. The author was very unpleased with the maintenance crew cutting and bulldozing unwanted
trees from the edge of the golf course. Instead of putting the cut down trees to any good use, they
decided to just dumped them off the cliff, but what they didn't know is that these trees will provide
extra salamander habitat. So that's a cool pro out of a con. With maintenance cutting down these
trees, many inhabitants will be destroyed in the process which would take decades to recover.
Reading the "April 2nd – Chainsaw" influenced me to think about how I use natural resources in the
future. In other words, how could I be more sustainable with the lifestyle

Edward Gein: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre
I hate it to break it to you but The Texas Chainsaw Massacre isn't a true story. I will go into more
detail in this essay. There has been many serial killers over time but one in particular was Edward
Theodore Gein, Ed was a notorious killer and a grave robber who then inspired several movies like
Norman Bates (Psycho), Jame Gumb (The Silence of the Lambs) and Leatherface (Texas Chainsaw
Massacre). So if it wasn't for him we wouldn't have those movies that so many people like. Edward
Gein was born August 27, 1906 in La Crosse, Wisconsin. Growing up Edward had a strong
relationship with his mother who was really all about religion, nothing wrong about that. After her
death, it had a really bad impact on him so he started robbing graves. ... Show more content on

Edward lived a repressive and a solitary life. His older died in 1944 and his mother in 1945. When
she died gein was a 39 year old men who had never been married. "weird old Eddie" is how people
knew him. Ed began to develop an unhealthy interest in the female body after his mother's death and
maybe that was all because when gein was growing up, his mom told him sex was a sin. So he never
even came close to a women. Soon he was digging up corpses, females in particular. So fascinated
by the female body he started seeking out fasher samples. Usually women of his mother's age.
Including 54, year old Mary Hogand who ran a bar in december 1954 and Bernice worden who ran a
local hardware store, she disappeared on 16th of November 1957. Mrs. Worden's son Frank was also
the sheriff's deputy, upon learning that weird old Eddie Gein had been spotted in town on the day of
his mother's disappearance, Frank Worden and the sheriff went to check out the old Gein place,
already infamous amongst the local children as a haunted house. There, the gruesome evidence
proved that Gein's bizarre obsessions had finally exploded into murder, and much, much worse. In
the woodshed of the farm was the naked, headless body of Bernice Worden, hanging upside down
from a meat hook and slit open down the front. Her head and intestines were discovered in a box,
and her heart on a plate in the dining room. The skins from ten human heads were found preserved,

Chainsaw maintenance: The handiest guides for garden works
It is a powerful machine, used for pruning, cutting or cutting firewood, deforestation, even for
impeccable let your orchard or garden. But not only it serves to make these works; you can also cut
large blocks or chunks of ice. There need some skill in the use of chainsaws, & the maintenance
some of its body parts: The CHAINSAW BAR & CHAINSAW CHAIN.
The bar and chain of a chainsaw needs a constant flow of lubrication during operation. If the bar and
chain are not lubricated the tip and the bar begins to heat up. As it warms up even more, it can
damage the bar, pinion, chain and even the clutch.

Examine the bar for more than one "usage type" indicator. This indicates the types of jobs for which
the chainsaw is designed. For example, a manufacturer makes three types of bars: casual,
professional and commercial.
4. Look for an identification number stamped on the bar. Cross reference to any number that is
sealed with the list of bars or chainsaws on the manufacturer's website.
How to replace a Chainsaw Bar
Heavy wear on a chainsaw will eventually require replacement of the bar, but this costly repair can
be pushed further along the way with a regular maintenance program and replacement of the nose
pinion on the bar. Replacing the tip costs a fraction of the price of a new bar and, along with proper
care of the main body of the bar, the life of the chainsaw extends several more cutting seasons.
Instructions
1. First remove the bar and chain from the chainsaw. Take out the motor head and chain aside. Put
the bar on a flat metal surface.
2. Using the steel punch and a hammer pounds off the rivet by holding the pinion tip on the bar.
Take out the old pinion tip.
3. Before places the new nose gear of the bar try to clean any residual splinters from the tip of the

OREGON CS1500 Self–Sharpening Electric Chain Saw: Product Review
First rule of running a chainsaw: Never, ever work with a dull chain!
One of the most difficult parts in owning a chainsaw is the upkeep that the equipment needs.
Sharpening your unit is a seemingly tedious task that several people would rather leave to
professionals instead of doing it on their own. Nevertheless, this practice may be quite expensive,
especially if you need to sharpen several chains. Eventually, you will be torn between spending your
money on a professional or putting in more effort to do the sharpening on your own.
You may think that there is no compromise for this dilemma... However, Oregon has created a
technology that enables the chainsaw to be sharpened ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, this could be caused by human error, since these reports appear to be an isolated issue. As
it is a corded electric chainsaw, your work area is limited to places situated within the reach of an
extension cord that should also have an access to an electrical outlet. The extension cord also needs
to be securely locked to avoid being detached from the outlet while you work.
Pros
This unit comes with a patented technology called PowerSharp Chainsaw Sharpening System that
allows for tool–free chainsaw sharpening within three seconds
It has an over–mold handle that causes the chainsaw to produce less vibrations and allows the user
to run the equipment comfortably and conveniently
The Oregon CS1500 is engineered with an automated chain braking system that is designed for the
added safety for the users
It is easy to maintain and eliminates the cost of professional chainsaw sharpening
Cons
There are a few users who have commented that the chain falls off easily
Since it is a corded electric chainsaw, the working space that you can work with is limited to the
radius of the extension cord
You must avoid heavy duty cutting with any electric chainsaw, however, this unit can cut through
thicker pieces of wood (with a diameter of 16 inches) compared to other electrically powered

cherry, they start as bowl blanks from a fresh log and through a series of smoothing and cutting by
the use of progressively smaller knives, a unique product is made. Next, we find out how the
chainsaw revolutionised the logging industry and we follow the various steps of its production. It all
begins with the making of the plastic housing by melting and forming special plastic pellets, in order
to slide into its casing a 2–stroke engine. During the assembly, various components nest inside it and

Chainsaw repair is one thing that may have to be dealt with if one is really into taking on DIY
projects or if it is used regularly for work. Besides buying a good quality chainsaw, one has to
maintain it properly to avoid frequent chainsaw repairs, either by themselves or at the hands of
professionals. Opting for a shop that offers free repair services for the first two years of use or for

better to use professional help. This is even more important when they have doubts or can't identify

Castration Anxiety And Texas Chainsaw Massacre
Texas Chainsaw Massacre follows Sally and her friends when they take a trip to see her
grandfather's old home, unfortunately when they wander outside the property they get attacked by
the family of cannibals living next door. The sole survivor is Sally. Teeth follows teen virgin Dawn
who after being raped realizes she has vagina dentata, she then harnesses it with the intent of
avenging herself against those who have wronged her. In order to compare these two films, I will be
analyzing how each interacts with the concept of castration anxiety. Castration anxiety as outlined
by Freud is when a boy looks at his mother and realizes she does not have a penis, he views his
mom as castrated and thus to him his mother is a warning of his castration. Carol Clover in Her
Body Himself and Dumas in Horror and Psychoanalysis have elaborated on this concept in the genre
of the horror explaining that castration anxiety is not only fear of penile harm but of one's power
being taken away. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is somewhat problematic because while the idea of a femme fatale is progressive Dawn
border's on being regressive specifically in the final sequence of the film. At the end of Teeth Dawn
has hitched a ride only to find the driver wants a sexual favor in return. Dawn then looks at the
camera smiles and turns around ready to seduce the man. The song "You Did" by Chuck Prophet
starts playing giving the scene an upbeat almost sensual tone. This gives Dawn agency as she is no
longer a victim and thus no longer a fully sympathetic character, instead, she is on the verge of
becoming the castrating monster men

Literary Devices In Out, Out By Robert Frost
The fun of using a chain saw is something anyone could enjoy. The feeling of power it gives, the
mess it makes, and the speed it has, but also the potential danger. This danger begs the question;
should children be allowed to use one? The poem "Out, Out–" by published, and Pulitzer Prize
winning poet Robert Frost acknowledges a substantial crisis that was occurring at the time it was
written. The poem was published in 1916, and addresses the terrible labor conditions that children of
the time were being subjected to. While doing so he illustrates the idea that children were seen as
expendable. The poem tells the story of a young boy cutting firewood with a chainsaw in the
evening. When his sister comes to tell him it is time for dinner the ... Show more content on

Unfortunately, not much has changed in the hearts of people. The world still contains little empathy,
or sympathy. This does not mean that all people feel this way, but little has changed since 1916. One
positive fact to note is that because of child labor laws the events of this poem can remain only in
poems and stories, and out of the news, at least in the United States and other first world nations.
However, in terms of adults caring for each other little has changed, people still do little to help
others. Not everyone is this way though, and the world would be a better place if others would
follow in their footsteps. For example, rather than shaming the poor people could help them get
jobs, or instead of laughing at people's problems they could help each other get through them.
Perhaps after that Frost's poem could become irrelevant and could instead be used as a reminder of
how the world used to be, and how much better off people are

Many horror films provide their audiences with scares and screams. Not many viewers follow what
kind of model the films follow to appease their viewers. However, after reading film theorist Carol
Clover's essay, watching one of the films she associates in the novel "Halloween", and also watching
the movie "Nightmare on Elm Street" I say almost every "slasher" or horror film follows a model
similar to Clover's. The model that is a female is featured as a primary character and that the female
tends to always overcome a situation at some point throughout the film to become victorious.
First off, in Carol Clover's essay"Men Women and Chainsaws" the argument is focused on how
women overcome their challenges throughout various films. Clover focuses in on a few different
films and specifically looks for the "Final Girl" which is the last female standing after overcoming
their challenges. All of this brings a new aspect to film watching because Clover's theory shifts the
viewer's attention from focusing on how the male is essentially tormenting a female to zooming in
on how the female overcomes the challenge. Clover does this because she wants to show the
viewers a different aspect of film and genre. This is because Clover feels that instead of having the
audience focusing on a main character which is essentially a male tormentor she has them focus on
how the female(s) overcome the challenge and defeat their tormentor. This perspective opens up a
new gateway to film

Out, Out by Robert Frost
Robert Frosts poem "Out, Out," paints a strange and bizarre death image to readers; A young boys
death due to a carnivorous chainsaw who sought blood, slicing the boys hand off. Robert makes
readers understand why he would paint such a tragic accident with various narrative elements, such
as personification, many signs of imagery, emotions, and perceptions throughout the story. Also,
Frost references William Shakespeare's work, "Macbeth." This gives readers who have read
Macbeth before, an idea of what's to come in the end of the poem, the feeling of sadness and death.
This analysis will show the main theme of the boys death, who died doing the work of a man.
Robert Frost starts out by showing readers the year and location; 1945, New England, Vermont. This
is the period where World War I occurs, however, Frost does not describe the land destroyed and
covered with dead bodies, instead Vermont is a place where exists; "Five Mountain ranges one
behind the other under the sunset far into Vermont." This makes readers understand that this place is
located in a beautiful place out in the wilderness away from war. The location is very significant to
the story, I have done a bit of research about Frosts life; Frost was forced to return to America due to
the war in 1915, a war that would have killed hundreds of innocent little boys. With this being said,
the reader now understands why the boy in the poem is located in a place like Vermont in a time of
war, and why the boy in the

The Chainaws-Personal Narrative
It was a late October night when it all happened. Scared as ever I started walking up to the line. I
was at the back of the line with three of my other friends, Jackie, Alli, and Marissa. They were as
scared as I was because of the environment around us. I was shaking like my mommas zumba
weight. We were standing in line with Jackie in front, Alli was after, then Marissa, and I was last. All
we could hear was the music and chainsaws inside as we were in line. When we heard the chainsaws
we wanted to leave but we had already paid at this point. Right before we were about to go in the
haunted house a small doll with the name Chucky came up to us and said "Do you wanna play?" his
voice was soft and his face was filled with cuts. He looked as ... Show more content on

We did not see this Chucky doll anywhere around us. This made us curious what was going to
happen next. We could all see where you got to exit. As we were about out the door Chucky popped
out with a chainsaw. None of us had ever screamed so loud or even been so scared. We had to run to
the car because this doll would not stop chasing us. Chucky chased us with the loud chainsaw all the
way until we got to my white jeep liberty car. We ran so fast and jumped in the car as fast as we
could. The car doors slammed so hard we were surprised that the car door did not fall off. We would
trip so much because we were running so fast so we could get away from this doll that was chasing
us with a chainsaw. It obviously did not have a chain on the chainsaw but the noise is what made it
so scary. When this chainsaw is a couple feet away from us we did not think much of it we just
wanted to get away as fast as we could. We finally got into the car, we all started complaining on
how sore we were from running, falling, and crawling. I felt like a patient that just got out of
surgery. As we were all sitting in the car trying catch our breath Jackie started crying but we could
not figure out why. She had gotten so scared she peed herself and did not realize it until we got in
the car. So we had to head home fast so Jackie could get all cleaned

Texas Chainsaw Massacre Vs And Then There Were None...
In The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and And Then There Were None, they are many similarities

humans can be very savage and very sadistic. The similarities between The Texas Chainsaw

Chainsaw Massacre , the protagonist character, Heather, heard that her grandfather's grave have

them thought they were there for vacation or in Vera's case, a job. In actuality, all of them were there

Cannibalism Is Taboo And A Violation Of The Law
The film showcases cannibalism, which is taboo and a violation of the law. Cannibalism is generally
frowned upon because it is not something that civilized societies engage in. Cannibalism is an action
that is primitive and what wild animals do in order to survive. For humans to commit this atrocity, it
signifies that we have not moved beyond our animal nature. Thus, cannibalism threatens the idea
that we have evolved beyond this primitive behavior that separates us from wild animals. It violates
the border between civilized and savage. When we see Leatherface and his family engage in
cannibalism, we are repulsed that they could violate this taboo that is central to maintaining a
civilized society. Additionally, cannibalism is taboo because it is like eating oneself. Kristeva (1982)
writes, "Fear of the uncontrollable generative mother repels me from the body; I give up
cannibalism because abjection (of the mother) leads me toward respect for the body of the other, my
fellow man, my brother." The maternal body is a reminder of the ties and dependence we had on our
mothers. The fear of the mother's generative power makes her body and thus all other bodies abject
and inedible. By not consuming the flesh of other humans, we are able to maintain our connections
to other people. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre depicts more severe acts of violence on women than
men, which may be explained by the abject. Creed (1986) suggests that the reason for significant

Essay on Horror Theories in Texas Chainsaw Massacre Part 2
Horror movies are based on humanity's disturbing, inner thoughts that are kept hidden by
sophisticated and civilized facades. The fact that people pay money to go watch their own race be
slaughtered shows that civilization has two sides. There are many theories as to why humans act the
way they do, such as Steven King's "beast within" and "potential lyncher" theories and Stanley
Solomon's "exploration" and "romantic isolationism" theories. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre Part 2
does a fantastic job of displaying these theories about the horror genre if one knows what they are
looking for. Learning about why humans react the way they do to horror films based on the theories

He also believed that since everybody is insane, insanity comes down to how insane someone is
(785). King's "potential lyncher" theory correlates with the "beast within" theory. This theory simply
explains that everyone has the potential to a masked murderer if they don't keep their dark sides
tamed (785). Stanley Solomon's "exploration" theory is a very well known theory in the horror
genre. The theory is the reasoning behind why characters in horror movies always act so irrationally
and brainless. Why is it that the defenseless girl always puts herself in a dangerous state by
exploring? Sometimes it is ironic that the victim is lurking around in a dangerous place because they
have yet to be informed that a monster is in their presence (795). Other times though, the victim
explores even though they know they are putting themselves in danger (795). As one watches these
movies, they typically pity the character. The fact that the viewer sympathizes the victim for acting
so absurd tells humans something about themselves. They want to explore as well (795). As
audiences watch, they want to cover their eyes in fear, but force themselves to watch the film
anyways. Solomon predicts in his theory that humans do this because "the ultimate irrationality of
this typical moment of horror in the nightmare film represents our own subconscious desire to
confront our inevitable dread: to meet death before we really

The fact that there aren't enough doctors makes it harder for patient to be treated in a one to one

Protective clothing including masks, gloves, gowns and goggles should be worn when coming into
contact with an infected person. The US Centres for Disease Control (CDC) recommend that the
protective gear leaves no skin exposed. These measures should be carried out for those who may
handle objects contaminated by an infected person's body fluids. In 2014, the CDC began
recommending that medical personnel receive training on the proper suit–up and removal of
personal protective equipment (PPE); in addition, a designated person, appropriately trained in
biosafety, should be watching each step of these procedures to ensure they are done correctly. The
typical training period for the use of such safety equipment lasted approximately 12 days in Sierra
Leone.
The infected person should be in separated from other people. All equipment, medical waste, patient
waste and surfaces that may have come into contact with body fluids need to be disinfected. During
the 2014 outbreak, kits were put together to help families treat Ebola disease in their homes, which
include protective clothing as well as chlorine powder and other cleaning supplies. Education of
those who provide care in these techniques, and the establishment of such barrier–separation
supplies has been a priority of Doctors without Borders.

Narrative Essay On Texas Chainsaw Massacre
Texas Chainsaw Massacre El Paso, Texas was a small quiet town. Anything and everything modern
like theaters and shopping malls were a long drive away and there was one high school that
everyone went to. This was where my parents were from. We visited quite frequently and there was
something unique about each visit. One visit, it was a gloomy day at my Grandma's house and we
were isolated by the muddy and wet elements outside her walls. My brother and I were rotting with
boredom and we did not hesitate to make it known to our grandma and uncle. Filled with frustration,
my uncle quickly went to his room, came back out with an old VHS tape, turned off the lights, and
popped the tape in; with an activity finally found for us to do, my grandma went to bed. I was filled
with excitement, a cozy movie night at Grandma's seemed like the perfect thing to do on a rainy
evening like this. My uncle reclined on the couch next to us and seemed to have smirk on his face.
My excitement then turned to curiosity and with this I asked, "What are we watching?" My uncle
replied with a grand smile on his face as he said, "Texas Chainsaw Massacre." My blood
immediately went cold. I was too in shock to protest, so I just sat on that couch and experienced the
most terrifying hour and half of my life. Watching that horrifying movie gave me a fear of my
Grandma's house because her house and backyard looked just something from the film. I also

Horror Film Genre Essay
The two movies I viewed were Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Poltergeist, which were both directed
by Tobe Hopper. Both films displayed the general rules horror films generally follow through the
use of horror film genre conventions. For instance, both movies follow the good verses evil story
lines and in each the end does ultimately win. However, this is not entirely true in Texas Chainsaw
Massacre. The friends represented the good and the chainsaw carrying monster and his family

In Poltergeist, the world of ghosts that jumps at the family is not one considered ordinary or one that
would have any sort of rationale behind it. Many would not believe such a thing to be true no matter
if they had a house built on top of a graveyard or not. Ghosts and the supernatural do not exist so
this showing up in a film brings a sense of irrational thought which would likely keep the audience
of the horror film guessing for they do not know what to expect. However, in Texas Chainsaw
Massacre, mostly due to the fact the film was based on a true story, there is a rational world where
the events taking place could be explained. An audience can believe that such a monster could exist
because there are crazy enough people in the world that could be ruthless murderers and cannibals.
It is not something that would be a pleasant thought even if it can be explained however rationale
can be given behind it which is not typical in horror films. In addition, although being in the dark
about something is more frightening Texas Chainsaw Massacre still did a good job of producing a
scare in a rational horror film by still keeping the element of surprise and suspense throughout the
movie. The timing of the appearance of the evil in each movie was just as similar to other movies,
delayed. In Texas Chainsaw Massacre, it takes up to half way through the movie for the chainsaw
killer, Leatherface, to appear and attack his first victim. In Poltergeist, the

Descriptive Essay About The Maze
The Maize Maze
Diego Villada–Youel
As I crawled in the back of my dad's truck, ready to go to the corn maze, my stomach felt like it had
a hundred butterflies were trying to get out. About halfway to the corn maze my stomach felt like
the butterflies that we're trying to storm out had ten babies each, that we're now trying to burst out
like fireworks. I could taste the dirt under my nails when I was chewing them due to the tizzy
feeling I had about what was going to happen in the maze.
Finally, after what felt like a week before I arrived to the farm we hopped in line to buy tickets for
the maze. I heard screams coming from the maze and the butterflies flew away, but, pigeons took
their place and I felt like puking. I heard people, coming out of the maze talking about their favorite
parts. One of them announced their favorite was when she was chased by the man with a chainsaw.
Just the thought of being chased made me want to curl up in a ball, find a nice hiding place and
never come out. On the other hand, I undoubtedly wanted to mosey through the maze, to show my
brother and sister that I could make it through the maze and not appear as scared as them.
After getting our tickets, we hopped in line for the maze. In the rear of the line, we talked and took
pictures. There were about twenty people in front of us, but, In no time we were at the front of the
line. As soon as our tickets were checked, we walked into the maze and it smelled like hay and corn.

body, depicting a brilliantly colored image of a older man in a red jacket in a forest looking at the
trees. The image stretches over the entire height of the advertisement and takes up less than half of
the page. The image alone was enough to grab attention and strives to do the same with the audience

the small paragraph and hear them out. The advertisement does rather well at pulling in the reader
by using two appeals, pathos, and

Men Women And Chainsaws Summary
A researcher named Carol Clover demonstrates a unique research method in her book "Men Women
and Chainsaws." Clover relates gender research into various films, especially "slasher" films. Often
times in "slasher" or scarier films females have a primary role. In many of those cinemas females
are being tormented and faced with a challenge often by a male tormenter. Clover applies the new
theory and selects a specific female character from various "slasher" films. She then digs deeper into
the film with an eye on the challenge the female is facing and how she overcomes it. Clover came
up with a few claims with a major one being that "slasher" films aren't trying to insert male
dominance but instead focus the viewer how powerful the female(s)

  • 3. Why Is It Important To Avoid A Chainsaw? Most people will agree that chainsaw are incredibly dangerous, but following these chain saw safety guidelines, using a chainsaw will be safer and more efficient. The first thing you should know is to look up when you approach a tree that you will cut. This allows you to notice any potential falling hazards such as loose or dead branches, wires, and other trees. Because chainsaws are designed to work best at full throw, before cutting you should make sure the engine is fully accelerated. Operator balance is crucial to maintaining control of the device. As such, you should avoid overextending or reaching higher than your shoulders. You can minimize kickback hazards if you are aware of what causes them. Positioning your left hand correctly, ... • 5. A Road Trip To Florida In The 1970's During one summer night in the 1970's, a group of teenagers planned to go out on a road trip down from Massachusetts to Florida, not knowing of the disturbing future ahead of them. The group of teenagers was comprised of both boys and girls, an even number, three of each gender. The four just finished their sophomore year in college and were planning a full vacation of adventure, drinking and nothing but fun. Riding down through several states along the way, they stopped occasionally to get supplies and then walk around and explore in towns and fields. However, once they reach Georgia, which is right above Florida, it all comes to a paranormal stop as they will be scarred for life. It was the last month for college students to get out of college and have their three to four months of summer vacation. The four guys were all very close friends, had some plans that summer to go down south with some girls. Chris Skies was the college student to first initiate the subject about their trip, eventually pursuing the rest to go along with them. The other two were Daniel Crank and Jericho Blue. Chris and Jericho were the two guys that were smart and made good decisions, whereas the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As foolish as they were, the college kids became anxious to enter hospitality and receive directions and possibly a cool drink. • 7. Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 and the Dark Shadow Within Essay The horror genre is synonymous with images of terror, violence and human carnage; the mere mention of horror movies evokes physical and psychological torture. As remarked by noted author Stephen King "the mythic horror movie...has a dirty job to do. It deliberately appeals to all that is worst in us. It is morbidity unchained, our most base instincts let free, our nastiest fantasies realized." (King, 786). At manageable intervals, we choose to live these horrific events vicariously through the characters in horror movies and books as a means of safely experiencing the "what if". The horror genre allows us to explore our fears, be it spiders, vampires, loss of our identity, or death of a loved, under the most fantastic and horrible ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Horror employs this archetype, which is similar to Freud's description of the battle between the ego and the id, the struggle between the normal and abnormal. The shadow archetype represents the inner person we try to keep under control and hidden as much as possible, in contrast to our outward, everyday personality (Fordham, 1966, p.49). Solomon suggests that the monster in film and literature is our surrogate, a representative of our baser instincts, our "uncontrollable impulses toward evil" (Solomon 795). This theme is evident in Drayton Sawyer's character in Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2. One side of Drayton is the small businessman, enjoying the win of the local chili cook– off; he may be a little abrasive but he is socially adept. Drayton comments "No secret, it's the meat. Don't skimp on the meat. I've got a real good eye for prime meat. Runs in the family. Must'a missed peppercorn." (Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2). His explanation provides a window into both sides of his personality, the inner cannibal and the exterior businessman. He hides his dark shadow, the side that supports his cannibalistic family traditions and serves human meat to unsuspecting customers. By identifying with the monster, be it a werewolf or maniac with a chainsaw, the viewer learns to reconcile the dichotomous personality within each of us; the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

If there is water in the spark plug dry it off and set it aside. Dry with a cloth, if possible. If the air filter is wet ring it out. Step two is if it 's a four stroke, turn off the key and kick the water out. Watch it blow out the exhaust and cylinder head. Step three is to drain the float bowl. (If you suspect that water got in the tank )Which is very hard, set it on it 's wheels and let the water fall to the bottom and turn the fuel petcock to reserve and drain for a second or so. Step four is once all the water is out is to replace the spark plug and the air filter. Pull the choke and try to start it. It will probably spit and sputter for a few minutes but DO NOT hit the throttle or you could do serious damage. Introduction When John Stewart and Thomas Clark founded the Chicago Flexible Shaft Company in Dundee, Illinois, in 1897, they probably never expected the company would be facing ethical and financial dilemmas more than a century later. Like many corporations, the firm has changed and faced many crises. It has acquired rival companies, added totally new product lines, changed its name, gone through bankruptcy, gone public, rebounded, restructured and relocated. • 24. April 2nd Chainsaw Reflection Out of the chapters we've read this week, chapter "April 2nd – Chainsaw" drew my interest the most. The author was very unpleased with the maintenance crew cutting and bulldozing unwanted trees from the edge of the golf course. Instead of putting the cut down trees to any good use, they decided to just dumped them off the cliff, but what they didn't know is that these trees will provide extra salamander habitat. So that's a cool pro out of a con. With maintenance cutting down these trees, many inhabitants will be destroyed in the process which would take decades to recover. Reading the "April 2nd – Chainsaw" influenced me to think about how I use natural resources in the future. In other words, how could I be more sustainable with the lifestyle ... • 26. Edward Gein: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre I hate it to break it to you but The Texas Chainsaw Massacre isn't a true story. I will go into more detail in this essay. There has been many serial killers over time but one in particular was Edward Theodore Gein, Ed was a notorious killer and a grave robber who then inspired several movies like Norman Bates (Psycho), Jame Gumb (The Silence of the Lambs) and Leatherface (Texas Chainsaw Massacre). So if it wasn't for him we wouldn't have those movies that so many people like. Edward Gein was born August 27, 1906 in La Crosse, Wisconsin. Growing up Edward had a strong relationship with his mother who was really all about religion, nothing wrong about that. After her death, it had a really bad impact on him so he started robbing graves. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Edward lived a repressive and a solitary life. His older died in 1944 and his mother in 1945. When she died gein was a 39 year old men who had never been married. "weird old Eddie" is how people knew him. Ed began to develop an unhealthy interest in the female body after his mother's death and maybe that was all because when gein was growing up, his mom told him sex was a sin. So he never even came close to a women. Soon he was digging up corpses, females in particular. So fascinated by the female body he started seeking out fasher samples. Usually women of his mother's age. Including 54, year old Mary Hogand who ran a bar in december 1954 and Bernice worden who ran a local hardware store, she disappeared on 16th of November 1957. Mrs. Worden's son Frank was also the sheriff's deputy, upon learning that weird old Eddie Gein had been spotted in town on the day of his mother's disappearance, Frank Worden and the sheriff went to check out the old Gein place, already infamous amongst the local children as a haunted house. There, the gruesome evidence proved that Gein's bizarre obsessions had finally exploded into murder, and much, much worse. In the woodshed of the farm was the naked, headless body of Bernice Worden, hanging upside down from a meat hook and slit open down the front. Her head and intestines were discovered in a box, and her heart on a plate in the dining room. The skins from ten human heads were found preserved, and another ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Castration Anxiety And Texas Chainsaw Massacre Texas Chainsaw Massacre follows Sally and her friends when they take a trip to see her grandfather's old home, unfortunately when they wander outside the property they get attacked by the family of cannibals living next door. The sole survivor is Sally. Teeth follows teen virgin Dawn who after being raped realizes she has vagina dentata, she then harnesses it with the intent of avenging herself against those who have wronged her. In order to compare these two films, I will be analyzing how each interacts with the concept of castration anxiety. Castration anxiety as outlined by Freud is when a boy looks at his mother and realizes she does not have a penis, he views his mom as castrated and thus to him his mother is a warning of his castration. Carol Clover in Her Body Himself and Dumas in Horror and Psychoanalysis have elaborated on this concept in the genre of the horror explaining that castration anxiety is not only fear of penile harm but of one's power being taken away. ... The feeling of power it gives, the mess it makes, and the speed it has, but also the potential danger. This danger begs the question; should children be allowed to use one? The poem "Out, Out–" by published, and Pulitzer Prize winning poet Robert Frost acknowledges a substantial crisis that was occurring at the time it was written. The poem was published in 1916, and addresses the terrible labor conditions that children of the time were being subjected to. While doing so he illustrates the idea that children were seen as expendable. The poem tells the story of a young boy cutting firewood with a chainsaw in the evening. However, in terms of adults caring for each other little has changed, people still do little to help others. Not everyone is this way though, and the world would be a better place if others would follow in their footsteps. For example, rather than shaming the poor people could help them get jobs, or instead of laughing at people's problems they could help each other get through them. • 41. Challenges In Carol Clover's 'Men Women And Chainsaws' Many horror films provide their audiences with scares and screams. Not many viewers follow what kind of model the films follow to appease their viewers. However, after reading film theorist Carol Clover's essay, watching one of the films she associates in the novel "Halloween", and also watching the movie "Nightmare on Elm Street" I say almost every "slasher" or horror film follows a model similar to Clover's. The model that is a female is featured as a primary character and that the female tends to always overcome a situation at some point throughout the film to become victorious. First off, in Carol Clover's essay"Men Women and Chainsaws" the argument is focused on how women overcome their challenges throughout various films. Clover focuses in on a few different films and specifically looks for the "Final Girl" which is the last female standing after overcoming their challenges. All of this brings a new aspect to film watching because Clover's theory shifts the viewer's attention from focusing on how the male is essentially tormenting a female to zooming in on how the female overcomes the challenge. Clover does this because she wants to show the viewers a different aspect of film and genre. This is because Clover feels that instead of having the audience focusing on a main character which is essentially a male tormentor she has them focus on how the female(s) overcome the challenge and defeat their tormentor. This perspective opens up a new gateway to film ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 43. Out, Out by Robert Frost Robert Frosts poem "Out, Out," paints a strange and bizarre death image to readers; A young boys death due to a carnivorous chainsaw who sought blood, slicing the boys hand off. Robert makes readers understand why he would paint such a tragic accident with various narrative elements, such as personification, many signs of imagery, emotions, and perceptions throughout the story. Also, Frost references William Shakespeare's work, "Macbeth." This gives readers who have read Macbeth before, an idea of what's to come in the end of the poem, the feeling of sadness and death. This analysis will show the main theme of the boys death, who died doing the work of a man. Robert Frost starts out by showing readers the year and location; 1945, New England, Vermont. This is the period where World War I occurs, however, Frost does not describe the land destroyed and covered with dead bodies, instead Vermont is a place where exists; "Five Mountain ranges one behind the other under the sunset far into Vermont." This makes readers understand that this place is located in a beautiful place out in the wilderness away from war. The location is very significant to the story, I have done a bit of research about Frosts life; Frost was forced to return to America due to the war in 1915, a war that would have killed hundreds of innocent little boys. With this being said, the reader now understands why the boy in the poem is located in a place like Vermont in a time of war, and why the boy in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 51. Cannibalism Is Taboo And A Violation Of The Law The film showcases cannibalism, which is taboo and a violation of the law. Cannibalism is generally frowned upon because it is not something that civilized societies engage in. Cannibalism is an action that is primitive and what wild animals do in order to survive. For humans to commit this atrocity, it signifies that we have not moved beyond our animal nature. Thus, cannibalism threatens the idea that we have evolved beyond this primitive behavior that separates us from wild animals. It violates the border between civilized and savage. When we see Leatherface and his family engage in cannibalism, we are repulsed that they could violate this taboo that is central to maintaining a civilized society. Additionally, cannibalism is taboo because it is like eating oneself. Kristeva (1982) writes, "Fear of the uncontrollable generative mother repels me from the body; I give up cannibalism because abjection (of the mother) leads me toward respect for the body of the other, my fellow man, my brother." The maternal body is a reminder of the ties and dependence we had on our mothers. The fear of the mother's generative power makes her body and thus all other bodies abject and inedible. By not consuming the flesh of other humans, we are able to maintain our connections to other people. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre depicts more severe acts of violence on women than men, which may be explained by the abject. The fact that people pay money to go watch their own race be slaughtered shows that civilization has two sides. He also believed that since everybody is insane, insanity comes down to how insane someone is (785). King's "potential lyncher" theory correlates with the "beast within" theory. This theory simply explains that everyone has the potential to a masked murderer if they don't keep their dark sides tamed (785). Stanley Solomon's "exploration" theory is a very well known theory in the horror genre. The theory is the reasoning behind why characters in horror movies always act so irrationally and brainless. Why is it that the defenseless girl always puts herself in a dangerous state by exploring? Sometimes it is ironic that the victim is lurking around in a dangerous place because they have yet to be informed that a monster is in their presence (795). Other times though, the victim explores even though they know they are putting themselves in danger (795). As one watches these movies, they typically pity the character. The fact that the viewer sympathizes the victim for acting so absurd tells humans something about themselves. They want to explore as well (795). As audiences watch, they want to cover their eyes in fear, but force themselves to watch the film anyways. Solomon predicts in his theory that humans do this because "the ultimate irrationality of this typical moment of horror in the nightmare film represents our own subconscious desire to confront our inevitable dread: to meet death before we really ... Anything and everything modern like theaters and shopping malls were a long drive away and there was one high school that everyone went to. This was where my parents were from. We visited quite frequently and there was something unique about each visit. One visit, it was a gloomy day at my Grandma's house and we were isolated by the muddy and wet elements outside her walls. My brother and I were rotting with boredom and we did not hesitate to make it known to our grandma and uncle. Filled with frustration, my uncle quickly went to his room, came back out with an old VHS tape, turned off the lights, and popped the tape in; with an activity finally found for us to do, my grandma went to bed. I was filled with excitement, a cozy movie night at Grandma's seemed like the perfect thing to do on a rainy evening like this. My uncle reclined on the couch next to us and seemed to have smirk on his face. My excitement then turned to curiosity and with this I asked, "What are we watching?" My uncle replied with a grand smile on his face as he said, "Texas Chainsaw Massacre." My blood immediately went cold. I was too in shock to protest, so I just sat on that couch and experienced the most terrifying hour and half of my life. Watching that horrifying movie gave me a fear of my Grandma's house because her house and backyard looked just something from the film. I also became dreadfully afraid of the dark and of course ... The piston then moves outward on the power stroke, uncovering the exhaust port and permitting the gases to escape from the combustion chamber.1 The four stroke model has four strokes instead of two. The strokes are Intake, into which a mixture of gas and air are pulled into the cylinder. Second, Compression, where the piston moves up and the gases are compressed. The Third is power in which the spark plug fires and ignites the compressed gases, And last is exhaust in which the gases that were burned are expels through the exhaust then the procedure repeats itself. Both films displayed the general rules horror films generally follow through the use of horror film genre conventions. For instance, both movies follow the good verses evil story lines and in each the end does ultimately win. However, this is not entirely true in Texas Chainsaw Massacre. The friends represented the good and the chainsaw carrying monster and his family portrayed the evil. In the end on of the friends, Sally, ultimately does escape from being killed by the monster in the movie. However, her other four friends were taken down and gruesomely killed by the evil killer in the movie. So although in a bittersweet manner, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In Poltergeist, the world of ghosts that jumps at the family is not one considered ordinary or one that would have any sort of rationale behind it. Many would not believe such a thing to be true no matter if they had a house built on top of a graveyard or not. Ghosts and the supernatural do not exist so this showing up in a film brings a sense of irrational thought which would likely keep the audience of the horror film guessing for they do not know what to expect. However, in Texas Chainsaw Massacre, mostly due to the fact the film was based on a true story, there is a rational world where the events taking place could be explained. An audience can believe that such a monster could exist because there are crazy enough people in the world that could be ruthless murderers and cannibals. It is not something that would be a pleasant thought even if it can be explained however rationale can be given behind it which is not typical in horror films. In addition, although being in the dark about something is more frightening Texas Chainsaw Massacre still did a good job of producing a scare in a rational horror film by still keeping the element of surprise and suspense throughout the movie. The timing of the appearance of the evil in each movie was just as similar to other movies, delayed. In Texas Chainsaw Massacre, it takes up to half way through the movie for the chainsaw killer, Leatherface, to appear and attack his first victim. In Poltergeist, the ... Analysis, Theory and Application The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 Nicole Weaver English 162 Professor Mark Justice 29 January 2012 Exploration, Transformation, and Metamorphosis in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2, a sequel to The Texas Chainsaw Massacre released in 1974, is a 1986 film directed by Tobe Hooper. This sequel is set 13 years after the events that transpired in the first film and follows Lieutenant "Lefty" Enright, played by Dennis Hopper, on his quest to find and destroy the Sawyer family the Sawyer clan did to his niece, Sally Hardesty, and his nephew, Franklin, in the first film of the franchise. Historically, "horror films developed out of the tradition of Gothic novels from Europe by way of Mary Shelley or Bram Stoker" (Dirks 788). Like these Gothic novels, horror cinema highlights the battle between good and evil whether it is between two separate individuals or entities, or a battle within the self. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2's narrative and description of the fight between good and evil allows for the analysis of theories such as isolation, exploration, transformation, and metamorphosis. Stanley J. Solomon argues horror cinema has the capacity of providing the viewer with "protected access to a nightmare world otherwise shunted outside of civilization" (794). Solomon continues to argue that it is through cinema that the audience's "abstract fears" are made a fictional reality and through the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Descriptive Essay About The Maze The Maize Maze Diego Villada–Youel As I crawled in the back of my dad's truck, ready to go to the corn maze, my stomach felt like it had a hundred butterflies were trying to get out. About halfway to the corn maze my stomach felt like the butterflies that we're trying to storm out had ten babies each, that we're now trying to burst out like fireworks. I could taste the dirt under my nails when I was chewing them due to the tizzy feeling I had about what was going to happen in the maze. Finally, after what felt like a week before I arrived to the farm we hopped in line to buy tickets for the maze. I heard screams coming from the maze and the butterflies flew away, but, pigeons took their place and I felt like puking. I heard people, coming out of the maze talking about their favorite parts. One of them announced their favorite was when she was chased by the man with a chainsaw. Just the thought of being chased made me want to curl up in a ball, find a nice hiding place and never come out. On the other hand, I undoubtedly wanted to mosey through the maze, to show my brother and sister that I could make it through the maze and not appear as scared as them. After getting our tickets, we hopped in line for the maze. In the rear of the line, we talked and took pictures. There were about twenty people in front of us, but, In no time we were at the front of the line. As soon as our tickets were checked, we walked into the maze and it smelled like hay and corn. A magazine advertisement, probably doesn't seem like much to any reader, but that one advertisement about the latest fancy new gadget or a popular shampoo has the power to influence. This seemingly magical power of influence does not just mean that the advertisement will make the reader automatically want to purchase any given product that is advertised, this influence can make the reader not want to buy something, like in the graphic tobacco advertisements that strive to scare into the readers the dangerous outcomes of tobacco. Occasionally an advertisement for a charity will make it a point to tell a story that makes the reader consider taking out their wallet and donate to their cause. The particular advertisement that I selected comes from the February 2017 issue of Alternative Press Magazine and is focused on persuading readers to consider purchasing an acoustic guitar from their company and what makes them better or different from other manufacturers, through use of appeals and grabbing the reader's attention even a subtle yet effective manner. • 80. Men Women And Chainsaws Summary A researcher named Carol Clover demonstrates a unique research method in her book "Men Women and Chainsaws." Clover relates gender research into various films, especially "slasher" films. Often times in "slasher" or scarier films females have a primary role. In many of those cinemas females are being tormented and faced with a challenge often by a male tormenter. Clover applies the new theory and selects a specific female character from various "slasher" films. She then digs deeper into the film with an eye on the challenge the female is facing and how she overcomes it. Clover came up with a few claims with a major one being that "slasher" films aren't trying to insert male dominance but instead focus the viewer how powerful the female(s) ...
