This document outlines the major components to cover when summarizing criminal cases for a criminal procedure class. Students should summarize two high profile cases, OJ Simpson's murder trial and Casey Anthony's murder trial, by including the jurisdiction, parties, charges, narrative of each side, and outcome in 3 sentences or less for each case.

1. CJ 200 – Criminal Procedure and Criminal Evidence
Major Cases: Our culture is fascinated with the courtroom
drama. With that in mind, I want you
· Jurisdiction (where is the case taking place; state, court,
jurisdiction);
· Parties (Who is the Judge, Lead Prosecutor, Defendant(s), and
Defense Attorney);
· What are the charges (what crime is alleged to have occurred);
· Narrative of the case (what is the theory of each side as to
what happened and why); and
· Outcome (what was the final verdict)
