5. Atoms are made up of three
types of particles. Protons and
neutrons are found in the center
of the atom. This area is called
the nucleus. Electrons are
smaller particles that circle
around the nucleus.
Some particles have an
electrical charge. Protons have a
positive charge. Electrons have a
negative charge. Neutrons have
no charge.

A molecule forms when two or more
atoms join together. For example,
three atoms combine (join) to form a
water molecule.
