2. Google
For me google was a huge help when finding magazines I could easily navigate to
online versions of regional magazines which makes finding copies a lot easier,
otherwise I would've had to have physical copies and this would have been much
more time consuming. I used google mainly for my research into codes and
conventions; it gives easy access to digital archives of magazines, and also
their websites.
Google Drive has also helped me a lot when presenting my work. By saving
everything to my drive this has allowed me to access the information from home
and school without the use of a USB stick, or needing to email myself back and
forth. Again saving me a lot of time. Google drive saves automatically
therefore I had instant backup of my work.
3. Blogger
I’ve used this website as a final platform to present all
my work in one portfolio organised into categories. It's
very simple and again I could access this from any
computer. Blogger presented my work in way which you could
see the production and how I progress throughout the course
as each new post is added. By suing an online portfolio
this has saved me valuable time, and helped me organise my
work better being able to label everything and put them in
specific places where they are easy to fine. Writing a
physical portfolio would have been a time consuming
process.
4. Wix
I used wix to design my website, I could edit and customise
the website to exactly how I wanted it to be, It gives you a
template to start on and from there you add in all your own
content. By being able to move things around and add exactly
what I wanted to on the page gave me the ability to transfer
the house style of my magazine into the website, so both the
website and magazine were coherent.
5. Photoshop
By using photoshop I could manipulate exactly how I wanted my
magazine to look, and give it that authentic, professional
look. By using tools such as filters, brightness, and
contrast I managed to make my photographs really pop out the
page. By using vaties tutorials via youtube, I could learn by
myself how to work the program and use it to its full
potential. Without the use of photoshop my final productions
would be at a low quality level, as I would of had to use a
less sophisticated program.
6. Picsart
I used this app to edit photos on my phone, even though it is
not as advanced as photoshop, it had different features that
photoshop did not have which gave certain images the extra
enhancement they needed. This allowed me to have more options
when editing my photos therefore I could choose the better
outcome of the one that looked the best and compare images.
7. Photo
For the best quality photos, I used a nikon
coolpix P510 this gave me the ability to take
professional photos to make my magazine look
high quality. This camera was lightweight, so
was covenant when I went around my town to
take photos, it also gave my great quality
shoots, and was quick and easy to use. By
using this camera it would allow me to easily
transport the photos over to my computer via
SD card which is a quick and simple process
which speed up my production. Without this
camera my photos might have been lower
quality, and could’ve been a much longer
process, it helped me a lot when attempting to
match real media products.
8. Facebook
I used facebook to communicate with my focus group, this way
I could show them options for my magazine through visuals and
they could choose which ones they prefer and give me a real
verdict. This gave me the ability to improve my magazine
through the opinions of my target audience. By using this app
allowed me to make changes to my production as soon as
possibly due to the instant messenger on Facebook.
