2. In what ways does your media product use,
develop or challenge forms and
conventions of real media products
• My teaser trailer adopts many of the forms and conventions
of real media products which I have gained an insight on
through my research
• By using the findings from my research as a basis for my
teaser trailer it has become easily recognisable as a product of
the action/adventure genre.
• This is evident through the fast editing, build up of the
narrative, use of violence and the films name.
3. Forms and Conventions
• Within my teaser trailer I used camera work conventions
typical of an action/adventure film. These are:
• An establishing shot, the first shot in scenes to allow the
reader to engage and have a clear view of the action that is to
come
• Close ups, to highlight significant things such as feet walking
up the stairs
• Wide shots, to allow action to build up whilst the audience
are able to take everything into account.
• Over the shoulder shots, creates the sense of tension, as if the
audience are watching something they shouldn’t.
4. • There are many conventions you would find in an
action/adventure film such as:
• Good guy vs bad guy
• Saving the damsel in distress
• Some kind of chase (be it in a car, foot etc)
• The good guy always wins
5. • From those conventions I have chosen to use the typical good
guy vs bad guy narrative but with a twist as the good guy has
a small win as he loses the damsel in distress that he is
supposed to save. This is to upset the audience and take them
out of their comfort zone in order to create a better response
than seen in general action films.
6. • I used a heartbeat as the sound track over my film sequence.
This was an effective decision as it created a unique teaser
trailer. For every heartbeat the scene changed and the
audience were shown something different and this gave a real
sense of pace and urgency, even desperation as the
heartbeats pace increased
