Rue Boecklin, Tel.03 88 15 70 80 09.30 - 11.00 and then 11.00 - 12.30 Scavenger hunt
'Discovering Europe'.
At 15.00 we will visit the Alsace-Moselle Memorial which attempts to explain the
complicated history of Alsace and Moselle, particularly during the time of the Second World
War.From 1940 to 1945, Alsace and Moselle were the only areas of the French territory to
be annexed by the Third Reich and to experience the extreme violence of a totalitarian
regime. The agony cannot be understood without retracing the historical steps of a region
long disputed by France and Germany, whose culture is richer today because of this long
struggle. This place offers a history lesson available to all, and teaches the necessity to unite
Europeans in their diversity and in the respect and dignity of every person in order to offer
them peace and freedom.

After the end of the program our guide will pick us up to begin our Strasbourg tour.
3. The coach will be waiting for us to make the round trip to the Republic Square. Afterwards
we will take a guided tour and through PETIT FRANCE we will end up at the Cathedral.
The city looks more like a European capital than an old Alsatian city, while major European
organizations are situated in the city's northeast quarter. The city, more than 2000 years
old, was formed on the swampy ground around the river Ile passing through its old
picturesque center. It has the liveliness of a campus because of the University of Strasbourg,
which was founded in 1566 and is one of the oldest in the country. We will walk to the old
town, full of picturesque houses with wood and paint, dominated by the Strasbourg
Cathedral. When construction began on the church in 1220, Strasbourg was an autonomous
city. It is worth climbing the steps up to the podium to admire the sculptures that adorn its
top. Next to the Cathedral Square, there is the 18th-century Rowan Tower, once home to
the archbishop which now houses the city's main museums, the Museum of Fine Arts and
the Museum of Decorative Arts and Archeology.
After the tour you will stay in the city center to enjoy the shops and buy your gifts and
various souvenirs. There are many shops with various souvenirs, mainly near the cathedral.
Optional dinner in the center of Strasbourg at a traditional French Tavern. Return to our
hotel on foot.
06 FEBRUARY 2020.
Breakfast at the hotel and at 08.30 we depart for COLMAR, France, a picturesque Alsatian
city that has been declared one of the 10 most traditional cities in the world and is
considered the "capital of Alsatian wine production", with its rich medieval and its
Renaissance architecture. Optional lunch at local restaurants. On the way back to Strasburg
we will visit Riquewihr, a popular cultural destination, nestled behind its medieval, intact-
looking walls.
In the afternoon, the bus will take us to the center of Strasbourg where we will tour the city
and stay at the market and have a mini cruise on the river ILL which takes about an hour to
admire Strasbourg
Possible visit to a local traditional tavern near the Cathedral for dinner (Optional) Back to the
hotel.
