The Euro-South Hub Project aims to promote innovation and social enterprise in the Mediterranean region through a physical incubator in Siracusa, Italy and a satellite in Lampedusa, with a virtual incubator in Malta. Funded by the European Regional Development Fund from 2011-2013, the project developed a smart infrastructure to facilitate communication between the physical and virtual incubators to support the identification of innovative ideas, new collaborations, and complementary expertise. Data analysis of the infrastructure identifies clusters of members and their knowledge, influential individuals, potential innovators, knowledge gaps, and novel social and knowledge connections.
