2. THE BEST SEASON
Description: In this lesson students will discuss how
the weather is and the many changes that occur
year round during certain seasons. They will be
discussing the types of weather and how the
seasons change. They will have specific vocabulary
that keys in and identifies the types of weather and
seasons. Students will have visuals to help identify
the best weather.
Grade Level: First
Content Objective: Students will use descriptive
words and visual structures to communicate basic
ideas.
4. WAYS TO REVIEW ACADEMIC WORDS
• You can pick the students randomly and
ask them to choose one of the words
and have them put the word in a
sentence.
• Students can be put in groups and create
a vocabulary book with the words in
them and draw pictures based on the
word by describing what it looks like.
• Students can play a vocabulary guessing
game. Example, I have a picture of kids
outside playing in the snow. The
students would have to find the word
that matches the picture.
6. SUMMATIVE ASSESSMENT
• Students will need to
draw a diagram of the
different weathers. From
there they will label the
diagram based off the
vocabulary to describe
the seasons of the
weather.
7. DETERMINING WHETHER THE STUDENTS UNDERSTAND AND
CAN USE THE TARGETED VOCABULARY WORDS
• Repeat vocabulary and their meanings continuously
throughout the course of the lesson. Multiple formative
assessments can be performed throughout the lesson
where the teacher can determine the student's
understanding. While the teacher summarizes, the
students will interact in a class discussion.
