• To compare perspectives, beliefs, and worldviews
 as authentic context to support learning by doing
• To represent and simulate meaningful real-life scenarios
• To represent beliefs, perspectives, arguments, and stories of others
• To define a safe, controllable problem space for student thinking
 as social medium to support learning by conversing
• To collaborate with others
• To discuss, argue, and build consensus among members of a community
• To support discourse among knowledge-building communities
 as intellectual partner (Jonassen, 2000) to support learning by reflecting
• To help learners articulate and represent what they know
• To reflect on what they have learned and how they came to know it
• To support learners’ internal negotiations and meaning making
• To construct personal representations of meaning
• To support mindful thinking
Is TELE motivational?
Of course it is!
 Multimedia technology combined
with appropriate instructional
design can create a good learning
environment that not only leads to
effective language learning but
also is highly motivational.
Is TELE appealing to learners?
 Since technology is so much into our lives, a TELE can be
perceived as an updated environment serving the needs of
our digital era. Therefore, the younger a learner is, the most
appealing TELEs will be.
