This job posting is for a librarian position at a correctional facility resource center. The librarian will be responsible for cataloging and indexing materials, assisting inmates and staff with library services, conducting research, ordering new materials, and promoting library use. Qualified candidates will have a bachelor's degree in library science, experience with library software and in a correctional or library setting. 1. LIBRARIAN
This position is responsible for categorizing and indexing books and materials received by
the Resource Center; assists inmates and staff in library use and with circulation of
materials/information; conducts research; assists in ordering library/resource materials;
responds to inquiries for research material; tracks library use; develops imaginative
methods to promote the Resource Center; supports the Arizona Department of Corrections
(ADC) educational program goals; attends meetings/trainings; and performs other duties
appropriate to the assignment.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSAs):
KNOWLEDGE: Of principles and practices of professional library work including use of
standard library tools and the Dewey Decimal System; personal computers and software
including word processing, spreadsheets and library automation; and use of basic office
equipment.
SKILL: In interpersonal relationships; verbal and written communications; time management; organization; and customer
service.
ABILITY: To classify, track and catalog books and other resource materials; work in a correctional setting; conduct
inventories; maintain the Resource Center in a neat and orderly fashion; and learn and adhere to departmental policies and
procedures.
Preferred candidate will have a Bachelor of Arts in Library Sciences or related field; experience using the Auto Librarian
software application; and work experience in a correctional or library environment.
Employment is contingent on the successful applicant passing a background investigation and pre-employment drug test.

Positions in this classification participate in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS).
Comprehensive benefits package includes 12 days sick leave, 12 days vacation, and 10 holidays per year; health and dental

State employees are subject to mandatory furlough days scheduled for FY 2011 (6 days) and in FY 2012 (6 days). A
furlough is time off without pay and equals 8 hours per day for full-time employees and is pro-rated for part-time employees.
