Using dolls as the main theme and including doll props was intended to attract their young teenage audience. While dolls may attract girls more than boys, the thriller elements of suspense, adrenaline, and mystery were aimed to engage both. The title sequence ends on a cliffhanger to provide suspense and intrigue viewers to watch more. Feedback from test audiences was positive and music choice was praised for drawing viewers in.
1. Question 5.
How did you attract/ address
your audience?
2. Using dolls as our main theme as well as having doll props
is how we aimed to attract our audience. I think this
would attract our audience, as young teenagers would
be interested in dolls. However, dolls may not attract
boys so much but the fact it is a thriller and has the
sense of suspicion and provides an adrenaline rush this
may be a more attracting factor for boys. We aimed to
provide a thrilling experience for the audience, and we
did this by taking into account their views from our
audience research questionnaire. We aimed for our
audience to be interested enough to watch not just the
title sequence, but also the rest of the thriller film. The
title sequence ends on a cliffhanger, we hoped this
provided the audience with suspense and the thrill to
know what happens next.
3. During filming we made sure the footage was
appropriate for teenagers, as we didn’t want
to create anything too graphic. When editing
the decisions we made were specific to
making our audience interested. The music
choice was relevant as it really drew the
audience in and when we showed our thriller
to a public audience, the music was an
element that they commented on with
positive responses.
4. Upon viewing our thriller title sequence,
our audience had a variety of different
responses. The main interpretation of
our thriller was that the main
character, (David) takes girls and turns
them into dolls. I think this outlines the
imagination of the viewers created by
our work that resulted in the number
of different responses.
