• Giant panda’s are black and white couloured
• They are 1,2 to 1,8 m long and males can weight up to 160 kg,
femails 75-125 kg
• Body shape typical to bears
• Diet consists almost exclusively of bamboo
• Lives mainly in Asia and China, also elsewhere in the World in
zoos
3. CONSERVATION
• The giant panda is an endangered species
• Mainly threatened by continued habitat lose and low birthrate
• Population estimations vary a lot: one study in 2006 estimated
that there were only 1000 pandas living in wild when other
report told there were 239 panda’s living in China and 27
elsewhere
• Conservation systems are thought to be working but it is still an
endangered species
