2. Did you know that 1 in 4 American households do some form of scrapbooking? That's more than a hobby... it's a revolution. Who are these people? Why do they love the hobby? To get it, you have to DO it. Let's make a Digital Scrapbook page!

Making a Digital Photo Collage Make your own quick and easy digital scrapbook collage by going to http://shutterfly.com and follow these steps: 1. gather 4-6 digital images to work with (these pics should be on the computer you are working on)2. go to shutterfly.com3. find your way to prints and poster, and click to enter that section4. click on COLLAGE POSTERS5. click GO under 8x10 posters6. scroll down and select a style for your project7. select a layout for your collage (on the left, there is a layout tab)8. under the layout design click get pictures9. browse to find your pic and click next to upload now10. repeat steps 9-10 until all pics are uploaded11. drag pics into desired spots on collage ( double clicking on a pic in the collage will allow you to edit the pic more carefully)*12. double click each caption and create desired saying (fonts, sizes , position, and colors can be changed)*13. click edges on the left to add finishing touches to the photos14. click the preview tab at the top or click save on the right15. click next to get ready to order your print16. create an account and log in*17. follow directions to place your order for the collage*18. wait for order to arrive in the mail*OPTIONAL stepsNote: this activity can be saved online for viewing if you do not wish to print at this time.

Who is credited with creating the modern scrapbooking craze and when did it begin? What common sporting activity has scrapbooking surpassed in popularity? What are the common tools used or needed for scrapbooking? How has the digital revolution made scrapbooking easier? Scrapbooking tends to be a predominately female hobby. Has the digital revolution inspired more males to be creative and involved in photo preservation?

5. Digital Storybooks and More Search http://scrapbooking.about.com for tips on moving beyond the cloud computing world of basic digital collage creation and answer these questions: What is a digital storybook, and how is it created? What other software applications and/or web 2.0 tools can be used to create a digital masterpiece?

6. Show and Tell Time Give a 2-3 minute presentation on your findings about scrapbooking and why people pursue it as a hobby. Submit a written paragraph to your teacher. Show the class your digital scrapbook page.
