Wide range of draw-wire encoders with
Ethernet and fieldbus interfaces
SFA-5000/SFA-10000 is the extensive series of absolute cable-pulling encoders with measuring
lengths up to 5,000 mm (196.85”) and 10,000 mm (393.7”) and a large variety of Ethernet and fieldbus
interfaces: Profinet, EtherCAT, POWERLINK, Profibus, CANopen, DeviceNet.
The range also includes the user-friendly analogue absolute version settable via buttons,
the SSI version and the SFE programmable incremental version.
Lika Electronic offers a complete range of draw-wire
measuring systems. They are available in a wide variety of
Ethernet and fieldbus absolute models (and even incre-
mental model) to meet the most diverse application requi-
rements. The cable-pulling mechanism is able to reach me-
asuring lengths up to 5,000 mm (196.85”) and 10,000 mm
(393.7”) and still remains very compact and integral.
The frame provides IP65 protection and allows for operating
temperatures between -40°C and +85°C (-40°F +185°F).
SFA are aimed at reliable operation in dynamic systems with
speeds up to 2 m/s (78.7 inches per second). M12 connectors
and cables comply with the specific interface requirements
while complete diagnostics and external LEDs bring increased
advantage. Installation is simple and fast, even in more con-
stricted spaces, and ensures perfect interchangeability with
SF-I and SF-A series. Built with premium-quality and rugged
components, SFA draw-wire encoders are ideally suited for
use in typical industrial applications such as construction ma-
chinery, outriggers, stabilizing slides, telescopic cranes, booms
in utility vehicles and mobile equipment, forklifts, loading and
work platforms as well as electro-medical equipment.
SFA cable-pullig encoders come in a large variety of
Ethernet and fieldbus models: Profinet IO, EtherCAT,
POWERLINK, Profibus-DP, CANopen DS301/DS406
and DeviceNet. They implement the full set of infor-
mation and configuration parameters: position and
velocity readout, full scaling with resolution program-
mable up to 0.024 mm (24 µm), preset, code sequence,
extensive diagnostics, Ethernet and bus network set-
tings.
SFA draw-wire encoders range further includes the following
models:
• SFA with SSI interface: it provides the absolute position
information via the robust and proven SSI interface with
LSB Aligned protocol and binary or Gray output code. Re-
solution: 0.024 mm (24 µm), 0.05 mm (50 µm) and 0.1
mm (1000 µm).
• SFA with analogue interface: it is equipped with ex-
ternal TEACH-IN buttons to scale the analogue range ac-
cording to the axis travel. Voltage and current analogue
signals available: 0-5V, 0-10V and 4-20mA with Overrun
function.
To complement the range, SFE is the wire-actuated measu-
ring system with integral programmable incremental en-
coder. It can be freely programmed via PC to fulfill specific
individual requirements. It provides AB0 and inverted /AB0
signals via Push-Pull and Line Driver compatible Universal
output circuit.
