2. Do you know what goes into a McCafe’s Vanilla Latte?
• When Westlife Development, whose subsidiary Hardcastle
Restaurants owns the McDonald’s India (West & South) franchise,
launched India’s first McCafé, its specialty coffee outlet, at SOBO
Central, in Mumbai, in 2013, customers immediately warmed up to its
many coffee-based concoctions.
• One such delicious offering has been the Vanilla Latte. Do you want to
know what makes it so delicious? The best way to find out is by
checking out its recipe. Here’s the five-step method: Pour some
vanilla syrup. Get your espresso. Heat and froth the milk. Add milk to
your espresso. Add some latte art. And, it’s ready!
3. Experience The Future At The New McDonalds Restaurant
• Westlife Development, whose subsidiary Hardcastle Restaurants owns
the McDonalds’ India (West & South) franchise, always likes to do
things differently. The company’s innovative spirit is best showcased
at the McDonald’s restaurants across the region.
• Its latest innovation is visible at the newly opened Experience Of The
Future (EOTF) restaurant at upmarket Nariman Point in Mumbai.
Located inside the famous CR2 Mall, and the first in a series, the
restaurant has been designed to offer customers a whole new,
futuristic experience.
4. Celebrate all victories, big or small, with Maharaja
Mac
• To announce its recent launch of the junior versions of its popular Maharaja Mac burgers,
McDonald’s India (West & South), a franchise owned by Hardcastle Restaurants, subsidiary of
Westlife Development, launched a series of ads created by Leo Burnett.
• The ads bring home the point that life is all about celebrating, and celebrating victories, big or
small.
• The first ad shows a young chap on the waterfront, flipping a bottle such that it lands right on his
cap! If you think it’s easy, try it yourself. Surely, that called for lots of celebratory yelling, ending
with a party at McDonald’s!
This Calls For A Junior Maharaja Mac
5. Small celebrations call for a Junior Maharaja Mac,
says this ad
• After boring TV ads, here comes an ad with a difference. The latest ad
about McDonald’s Junior Maharaja Mac has been created by Leo Burnett,
as all of the company’s ads in the past. Its even been shot on iPhones,
giving it a real edge.
• As Raj Deepak Das, Chief Creative Officer, Leo Burnett, South Asia, “We’ve
cast real people, captured real moments, and shot many of these on our
iPhones.”
• The ad by McDonald’s India (West & South) for the Junior Maharaja Mac
shows glimpses from daily life. As daily life is not just about going through
the grind but also about celebrating some victories, it says small and simple
wins can be celebrated by ordering a Junior Maharaja Mac.
6. Scrambled egg lovers of the world unite at
McDonald’s
• Why does everyone love scrambled eggs? Why do Indians love their
version of it, known as anda bhurjee? It’s because there’s no more
heavenly smell one would like to wake up to than eggs being beaten,
whipped and roasted, with a sprinkling of onions, and masala if you prefer.
It’s probably the best breakfast one can have on a lazy Sunday morning.
• But in reality, anda bhurjee is not reserved for the weekends, but is a staple
daily food for thousands of office-goers, if you please, who grab a bite of
this delicious concoction as they rush to office.

7. Imagine a Mac burger coming out of the ATM!
• Guess what happened at a McDonalds’ restaurant in Boston, USA? Instead
of green slips of cash, out came the Big Mac – the most famous American
burger!
• Now, how did that happen? That particular restaurant came up with the
idea of rewarding its loyal customers with complimentary Big Macs for a
whole day. The ATM, knowing that customers come with different-sized
appetites, began giving out Big Macs of various sizes – Big Mac, Mac Jr and
Grand Mac.
• When their turn came at the ATM, people found that they could also place
an order for their favourite Big Mac, which got recorded at the McDonald’s
restaurant located at 540, Comm Ave, Kenmore Square, Boston.
8. McDonald’s India’s 21-year milestone-strewn
journey
• It’s been 21 years since McDonald’s India (West & South) has been in India.
Though today, it’s the leader of the Quick Service Restaurant space, it was a hard
road upwards for the company.
• When it first arrived, there was no supply chain in place. The company built that
up, brick by brick. It not only had to be built, it also had to match the global
standards of the parent company based in USA.
• At present, McDonald’s West & South India, which is managed by Hardcastle
Restaurants, a subsidiary of Westlife Development, has 245 restaurants located in
33 cities of ten Indian states. The company is hopeful of increasing the number of
restaurants to 450-500 by year 2022
