1. Feeding mouths, nourishing spirits.
Little Lily has had a rumbling tummy for several days. Her
family suffers from food insecurity due to poverty. Her mother
was embarrassed about their hardship, but sought help from
their church in order to help provide for her hungry family. In
addition to loving support, the church provided Lily’s family with
a box full of healthy produce and grocery items to help get them
through the week. Now Lily has a full belly and is a happy girl,
thanks to help from Daily Bread Ministries.
Sadly, Lily is one of thousands of San Antonio children who suffer daily from hunger.
Texas ranks one of the highest in the nation in food insecurity among children and
families¹. Approximately 17% of Bexar County residents live in poverty² and San
Antonio’s emergency food needs have gone unmet at a rate of 37%³. Daily Bread
Ministries helps meet this need by collecting and re-distributing over 5 million
pounds of food every year to churches and compassion organizations in San Antonio
Daily Bread Ministries and the Bexar County area. These organizations then distribute the food to
700 W. Houston constituents in need, many of whom may not be able to access other community

2. “Daily Bread Ministries works to spread the message of God’s love by distributing rescued food to
area compassion organizations for delivery to hungry families and children in the San Antonio area
and beyond. DBM supports the poorest of the poor in their own communities by directly reaching
out to them through its affiliates, nourishing peoples’ bodies and sustaining their spirits.”
Seth Kuehn founded Daily Bread Ministries in 1997 to meet the hunger needs of San Antonio
residents, and he has built partnerships with local and national food companies, catering
businesses, trucking companies, produce markets, and grocers to rescue unsold food and
distribute it to area churches and compassion organizations with direct contact to those in
need.
Daily Bread Ministries has developed partnerships with over 200 compassion ministries in the
South Texas area who distribute its rescued food to hungry residents. Over the last five
years, DBM has dispensed over 20 million pounds of food to such organizations.

Food Distribution: Every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday morning, DBM’s volunteers
come together to sort bread, pastries, canned goods, produce, and other items into boxes
and load them onto partner ministries’ trucks and vans following a prayer of thanksgiving.
Kids Against Hunger: Daily Bread Ministries is a distribution partner for Kids Against
Hunger, a humanitarian food organization that delivers pre-packaged food to starving children
around the world. DBM assembles, packages, and ships the food product specially
formulated to meet the daily nutritional needs of a starving child.
