Enith's News - Oct 2015
1. OCTOBER 2015
Greetings to all my friends
and supporters! I wanted to
give you an update on what
has been happening in my life
this year.
Community & Medical Outreaches
We had two successful
outreaches. We went to Uré at
the beginning of the year and
to Pajarito in June. I worked
hard at both outreaches.
In June, I also went with a
team to the town of Salgar,
where there was a mudslide
that destroyed a large part of
the town and killed about 130
people. We gave 100 bowls of
soup away as well as 250
bags of groceries.
From October 8 to 12, we held
an outreach in Puerto
Libertador, Córdoba, focused
on 5,000 families. This was
our fifth brigade in that
community, and we’ve been
able to start three churches
through the AIEC
denomination.
On the one hand, I was really
happy to see how the
churches that we planted have
grown and to see children,
young people, and adults
embrace the Gospel as the
only hope and solution for
displacement.
However, there are still
stories that are very difficult
to listen to, such as the
stories of people who the
guerrillas and paramilitary
have left orphaned, without
food or work.
I thought of how the Bible
says that Jesus had
compassion on them. I saw
some of these people like
sheep without a shepherd. My
heart is still with the poor. I
can’t stop that, and I’ll die
with the poor in my heart.
Omar Maturana
I am so pleased that Omar
Maturana, one of the young
men who grew up in our
home, has received his
degree in business
administration and has
finished the practical part of
the YWAM Discipleship
Training School (DTS) in
Cartagena.
He is now on his outreach trip
in Europe for two months.
Fish Farm
Praise God, with the help of
our supporters, we have been
able to buy a piece of land to
raise fish!
We’ll be able to feed fish to
the children and staff as well
as sell them to pay for some
Outreach in Puerto Libertador
2. of the expenses we have in
running the children’s home.
However, we still need to
build the ponds for the fish
and buy the fish fry (babies).
We’re looking for 100 people
to donate 100,000 pesos for
this project.
Celebrating birthdays
Alenis – 4 years old
Deison – 8 years old
Felipe - 13 years old
Denilson - 13 years old
Daniel – 11 years old
and others
They each asked me for ice
cream. It was fun to celebrate
with them.
Some people asked me to
share the story of one of our
boys, Deison.
Deison has been with us for
almost one year. He comes
from a background of poverty
and was abandoned by his
father.
In January, as we were
visiting homes in Uré,
Cordoba, we met him. He was
living with his mother and
grandmother. His mother
works in mines removing gold,
and his grandmother takes
care of nine children.
Deison is a very intelligent,
cheerful child, and it
impresses me that in spite of
his family’s situation, he still
wants to be with them. He
said to me, “Thank you,
auntie, for taking care of me,
but I want to go home to be
with my mom.”
Please pray that he comes
back to our home next year.
Prayer Requests
Please pray for my
feet. The doctor says that I
have plantar fasciitis,
which means that my soles
are inflamed and that it’s
chronic. It’s very painful
for me.
Please pray for my
health, which has been
very bad this year.
Please pray that the
children would be able to
eat fish when they return
from Christmas holidays in
January.
Please pray for a
house for me. I’d like to
stop living in the same
building as our offices.
Please pray for my
finances. With medical
expenses and losing some
donors, this has been a
very difficult year. I need
to see the Lord open new
doors of provision.
Would you partner with me?
As a full time volunteer missionary, I receive no salary. Just as Jesus had a group of people who helped to
sustain Him (Luke 8:1-3), I also depend on God’s provision as expressed through the body of Christ.
