2. What is a music video?
• A music video is a short film lasting the length
of the song using a range of visual images such
as lip syncing or choreographed dancing to
interpret the song lyrics and music. They are
normally produced for either promotional or
artistic purposes. although some are
dismissed as an advert, most successful music
videos bring life to the lyrics which enhances
the audience experience and understanding of
the song.
3. BESSIE SMITH-ST.LOUIS BLUES
• This is one of the first ever examples of a
music videos and was shown in theatres as
this was the only was it could be viewed by
the public.
• It was produced in 1932.
4. TONY BENNETT-STRANGER IN
PARADISE
• This was the first ever music video that was
shown on US and UK televisions. This made it
easier for the public to view.
• This was in 1954
5. MTV
• As technology upgraded, a television program
called MTV was made for people to listen and
view music videos on there televisions.
• The first music video on MTV was “Video
Killed The Radio Star” by the Buggles.
6. Technology
• As the years have progressed and technology
has changed, music videos have gone form
only being accessible in theatres to being
viewed millions of times by the minute on the
internet and television. This is why they are
now used for marketing and promotion of
music.
