Organizational challenges
• Company in post-merger phase (five companies merged with very diverse organizational
cultures, values and operations)
• New corporate structure and processes were designed
• Significant resistance to change - most of the staff were prior competitors

• Change agents were identified by mapping the relations of employees in terms of knowledge
sharing, decision making and innovations
• In each company, these key opinion leaders (KOLs) were in a position to spread the message
of the new vision three times faster than formal leaders through formal channels
• The number of customers churning and staff leaving decreased significantly
Interventions implemented
• In order to better facilitate the dispersion of information regarding the ongoing change, KOLs
took part in dialogue sessions and workshops
• As a result of bottom-up initiatives, employee resistance was minimized, and the buy-in of
KOLs was successful
• Over half of the 31 proposed actions, ranging from common IT-related developments to team-
building and motivation-related projects, were completed in the first three months
