Abortion is a Life Saver not Murder
When people argue for the right to abort a pregnancy, it’s not a procedure that
people wish to one day for the fun of it. It’s a procedure that they choose to have
because of a traumatic event in their life, or they may just not raise a child they
don’t want or can’t take care of. It’s a complex topic that has many different
opinions. Many people are for it, many are against it, yet many also find
themselves caught in between.

The groups of women that typically get abortions are either in their late teens, or in
their early 20’s. The women in these age groups either aren’t married yet, not in a
good economic state, are victims of sexual assault, are in an abusive relationship,
don’t see themselves getting married to the man that impregnated them and don’t
want to be forced into a marriage with them, don’t see themselves as parents, or
maybe they do but now isn’t a good time for them.

The discussion of abortion has become a very political situation over the years.
The political party that typically supports abortion are the democrats, and the party
that typically isn’t are the Republicans. After the overturn of the Roe vs. Wade law
on June 24, 2022, the United States supreme court had made it illegal for 13 states
in the country to allow legal procedures for abortion.

Not all, but many elected officials in the republican party argue that abortion is
murder and should be illegal and claim to be acting from a religious standpoint.
Many elected officials though, such as Herschel Walker, who claims to be very
against abortion, but has been proven to provide a woman with access to abortion
in the past. This is used as an example by many to prove that many elected officials
lie when they say they themselves are truly against the procedure and are only
saying they are so that they can appeal to their more Christian audiences.

Those who for the procedure of abortion are typically women led groups,
democrats, independents, and even in some areas women who are either
conservative or libertarian. Those who are for the procedure argue that it is a
human right, and a woman should have the right to do with her own body as she
pleases, and not need the states permission to do so. Some people argue that
democrats only argue for it because most people in the party are for it, and they
don’t want to go against their party, the last six months of protesting have shown
otherwise.

The groups of people that are often opposed to planned parenthood are religious
groups such as Catholics, Mormons, non-denominational Christians, and Protestant
and Eastern Orthodox. These groups argue that no matter the reason for the
pregnancy, a child has a life, and should have the right to live, stating that it
shouldn't be a choice. Some groups have stated that it’s fine if it were due to a
medical problem for either the mother or the child, or potentially sexual assault,
but otherwise, they view the procedure as an act of murder, and often.

There are people that are willing to look past politics and religion, however, and
see things from both sides point of view. Some people would argue that they
themselves wouldn’t get an abortion, but they would also state that it’s none of
their business rather someone else gets one or not. Not all people necessarily think
it is right, but they also don’t believe they have the right to take that choice from
other people, given the possible circumstances.

Those who are pro-life that claim to hear out the women that need abortion, but
other than meeting them halfway, they’ll argue, “Well you should still have the
baby, but if you don’t want it, then just give it up for adoption!” This argument has
been met with many criticisms in the state of Utah given that in More than 172
children were adopted from foreign countries in 2004, only for that to drop to 70 in
2016. This is due to foster families either having poor health and care reports,
children being sent back for reasons of abuse, or children just winding up going
missing and not being looked after for weeks only to wind up being homeless.
