1. Strap-line
● I would like the front cover of my magazine to be
Masthead relatively simple. While I like the format and layout of
Box-out Kerrang magazine, I think it looks rather cluttered and
confusing to look at, at a glance. Q magazine has a
relatively simple layout, but still has many of the same
conventions of other Rock magazines
Headline ● I got inspiration for a square Masthead from Q
magazine, which also uses a square-shaped Masthead
Anchorage ● A strap-line across the top of the magazine would
The Lead make it stand out and allow people to know what the
magazine is about from a glance
● A Feature at the corner of the magazine would contain
a competition that relates in some way to Rock music
● Banners at the bottom of the page would contain
additional information, such as Editor/Photographer
The Lead names, additional articles, etc.
Central Image ● The Box-out at the top would contain information about
the magazine itself, such as the Barcode, Issue number
and Price
● The left side of the page will contain Leads that hint at
other articles in this issue of the magazine
The Lead ● Headline and Anchorage will relate to the Lead Story of
my Music magazine
er ● The Central Image will take up the centre of the page,
nn
and will relate to the Lead Story

2. Banner
Headline ● The Banners at the top and bottom of the Cover page
will contain additional information that is relevant to the
subject of the magazine
● The Central image will take up the majority of the
The Lead Cover page, and will be directly related to one of the
articles in the magazine
● A Caption will be at the bottom of the Central Image, to
Headline
the side, and will explain the nature of the image,
Central Image ● Two Box-outs – one big vertical one to the left-side of
the page, and a large one at the bottom of the page – will
The Lead contain more information. The left-side one will act as the
index, with Headlines, and will direct people to the pages
that the articles are at. The Box-out at the bottom will
contain information related to this particular issue of the
Headline magazine, perhaps a ‘Preview’ of the articles
● A Feature at the bottom-right will contain an event that
relates to rock music in general, but not necessarily
Caption something mentioned in the article

● The Title will be directly related to the subject of the article, and will relate to what is being discussed. The large font and bold text will
make it stand out to catch the reader’s attention.
● The Anchorage, located below the Title, and will expand on what the Title is saying without giving away too much information
● The Article is the actual selling point of the magazine, and will contain all of the important information. The text’s colour will contrast the
background, and make the text stand out more.
● The images will be located all around the page. Their large size and distribution around the page will encourage readers to look around
the page
● Captions located next to the images will explain what is going on in the images, and give context to the Article
