                                 REACTION PAPER ON:
                              “K-12 VISION OF A CHILD”

The Philippine scenarios in terms of educational system in the past 2 decades or
even up to present are all patterned in a classical way. Whereby, a classroom discussion
using devices such as books, flashcards, posters and etc., are being used. Students are
forced also to read, comprehend and even memorize the things taught. Child may get
horrid sometimes because of too strict teacher. You cannot just imagine, picturing out a
professor who holds a stick and pointing it out to his or her students during the course of
discussion. I for one could develop unintentional tremors on that!

The video clip depicts a vision to those children of this era, how they want the
mode of education be instilled to them. They are children who are born in the computer
world and wanted that this new educational system that we have which is the K-12 will
be as innovative and technical as it is. The preceding notes of mine will take my stand
whether or not the video presentation is too measurable and attainable or not.

The film presentation was overall good, it catered children in different walks of
teenage life, and silently they all raised their concerns by means of little placards with
notes written on it. It was so creative in such away that it made the viewers finished the
strip. The setting was made outside our country. It was indeed informative. The visions
were all depicted and presented with one cause and that is to make the education of today
in line with the current trend of technology that they are getting. Yes, it’s true that in this
new era teachers must learn how to use computers. The world is evolving too much that
children of today spend much of their time in any forms of computer technology other
than studying or learning thru books. They are visual learners who developed their
conceptual learning thru the technologies of today. And parents themselves are too
different as before. They too are busy and even lazy making a one on one post school
discussion with their children. Well, these are some of my few viewpoints in taking
consideration the said vision.

Would it create a pressure? Would it be a challenge? Who could be responsible on
this? Will this create a magnificent future? Will learning be fun? Well, these are some of
the questions I’m pondering upon. The advent of K-12 is a good opportunity of
improvement to the quality of education that we currently have. But, applying what those
foreign children have acted on the video, I guess it would be too impossible here in the
Philippines to happen. It will be not that easy enough and not all of the children here are
too computer literate. Monetary domain we are not that lucky. Not all of us can afford,
sad to say. Not to mention those that are located in the far flung areas.

Here in our country, the proponents of this (and that is the DEPED) experienced
great opposing force from the public, because this is not easy for us here. It is a total
reorganization both from the academe and the student as well. Yet, it is still implemented.
I guess it’s a matter of explaining it well and gradually inculcate to the mind of the
parents the reason why it was implemented.
The depiction of the said film-strip is really good. Because, of the kind of learners
that we have now. But I guess this also matters to everyone. It is really a too good to be
true. But for me, it will not be a loss in your part if you will still stick to the old-school
way of learning; it is still consider being the greatest mode of educational strategy of all.
Genius people of before were born and was raised that way after all.
