2. Introduction
An experienced executive-level professional, Martin Milita
has worked as a senior director at Duane Morris
Government Strategies since 2012. Also committed to
charitable giving, Martin Milita is a member of the Knights
of Columbus and has contributed to the Gettysburg
Preservation Trust of the Civil War Trust.
Established to preserve American Civil War battlefields,
the Civil War Trust was formed by the merger of the
Association for the Preservation of Civil War Sites and the
Civil War Preservation Trust. With more than 40,000 acres
saved, CWT hosts events, public education opportunities,
battlefield interpretation, and a Civil War Discovery Trail
that connects more than 600 sites across 32 states.
3. Civil War Trust
A nonprofit organization, the Civil War Trust saves
battlefields and associated lands by obtaining federal
and state funding and private, direct donations from
its 55,000 members. When preserving areas, CWT
either allows the private landowners to retain their
ownership through conservation easements or
purchases the land outright. Once the area has been
preserved, CWT creates custom GPS-powered
battlefield apps that allow people to tour and learn
about the sites on location or from home. It also
installs interpretive signs and sets up driving tours of
battlefields.
