The law is complex and has many facets to it that are difficult to understand. What is apparent is that the government enacted the ACA to provide all
Americans regardless of their economic status access to affordable health care. According to a lot of people in the United States, while the ACA may
provide an avenue for uninsured Americans to obtain health insurance, there is an underlying agenda that the government has in doing so. Perhaps

days (Carson, 2015). Decreasing CAUTIs can be achieved with a strict goal, addressing the financial implications, interdisciplinary collaboration,

Goal
Urinary tract infections are the most common type of healthcare infection, and CAUTI is the 2nd most common cause of nosocomial bloodstream

insurance to over 30 million previously uninsured people in the United States. People who couldn't afford insurance now have Health Insurance

It is transforming every day. During the past several years nurses have been involved in more than just direct care they have been involved in the
management of reducing the safety risks and improving quality of care. For example the IOM report states that the research from the INQRI showed
that it has lessened the medication error rates, by the nurse clarifying doctors' orders and providing patient education. (Institute of Medicine, 2010, p.
90) By transforming our practice our scopes of practice will need to be redefined. This will allow the nurses to work at their fullest potential and
increase patient satisfaction and to meet the needs of our patients. Expanding our knowledge in procedure and community based skills will be
required. The most transformations will occur with are APRN's but every change that will be occurring will have a major impact on the quality of
care our patients are receiving. It is going to increase our opportunities to care for all that is in need.

In this paper I will discuss the goals of the 2010 Institute of Medicine (IOM) published report and its impact on nursing education, nursing practice
specifically in primary care and the impact on the nurse as a role of leadership. In my conclusion, I will provide on a personal level what
modifications I will make in my nursing practice to meet the IOM report goals. Within the paper I will explore how the impact of the 2010 IOM
published report titled "The Future of Nursing: Leading Change, Advancing Health" has on the three topic points stated above. The IOM published

The focus of these IOM goals are to improve healthcare across the United States and to improve the health of all populations and lifespans. As stated in
the IOM summary report:
"The recommendations offered in this report focus on the critical intersection between the health needs of diverse populations across the lifespan and
the actions of the nursing workforce. They are intended to support efforts to improve the health of the U.S. population through the contributions nurses
can make to the delivery of care" (IOM, 2010, p. 4).
In conclusion, to transform the United States healthcare system contributions must be provided by the nursing profession. The changes will
require implementation of the described IOM goals of transforming nursing education, nursing practice and nursing leadership. I believe the
process of change to the nursing profession has already began as many of my nursing colleagues have begun to return to school to complete their
Baccalaureate degrees (BSN). I personally will be meeting the goals set forth by the IOM. I will do so by improving my nursing practice with
continuing my education and completing my BSN. I will also improve my nursing bedside practice and possibly step into nursing leaderships roles. By

On March 23, 2010, the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act was signed into law. Along with the Health Care and Reconciliation Act that was
signed a week later these two bills became known as the Affordable Care Act (ACA) (Tacchino, 2012). This act has had a massive effect on almost
everyone in the healthcare industry. The cost associated with reimbursement from Medicaid, medical coverage for individuals, and nursing practices
has made many changes in the way healthcare is delivered. With these transformations there will be an impact on the future of nursing over the next 10
years and more.

Brown, that allows girls and women in California just drop by their neighborhood pharmacy and pick up birth control pills without a prescription from
a doctor (Karlamangla, S., 2016, April 8). The article further shared that contraceptives aren't officially over–the–counter, but can be obtained by simply
talking to a pharmacist and filling out a questionnaire. This new development is intended to further increase access to birth control and continue with

A possible failure and unintended consequences of AB 2348 is that it was linked to the Affordable Care Act which had a fair amount of pros but also
had a lot of drawbacks for its consumer. The Affordable Care Act increased coverage raised overall health care costs in the short

mainly because many people received preventive care and testing, such as hormonal contraceptives (Amadeo, K., 2017, February 1).
A second unintended consequence is that AB 2348 was faced with criticism and backlash, especially from Republicans and Christian value based
groups. Critics argued that AB2348 allows registered nurses to assume the role of doctors and voiced that nurses should not allowed to prescribe
contraceptives because they lack the expertise of an actual physician. Others have argued that doctors are now a vanishing breed
