were charged with child endangerment because weapons were
found in the child’s crib and drugs were found in the home. The
parents assert that the child never sleeps in the crib but in their
bed. As a result of the parents’ arrest, social services was notified,
and the child was temporarily placed in a kinship care arrange-
ment with the maternal grandmother, who resides nearby. As a
result of Joseph’s arrest, he was fired from the cleaning company
where he worked, and the family is now experiencing financial
difficulties.
After initial contact was made with the parents, a number of
concerns were noted and the family was recommended for addi-

disabilities related, at least in part, to a brain injury she suffered as a toddler. She has

Loretta is a hard worker. Because of her positive attitude and work ethic within the day
treatment setting, Loretta has a good reputation for being dependable and trustworthy.

caught having sexual contact at the treatment center and also at home in the evenings

Amee and Aaron are 6-year-old twins of Josh and Lacy. Josh is an alcoholic and unemployed, and Lacy works two jobs to feed the family. When Lacy arrives home late from work, Josh is drunk after spending the day managing the children. Josh picks a fight with Lacy over petty issues and starts hitting her. Lori and Mark first met at a work-related medical conference, where they realized that in spite of their different backgrounds, they had a lot in common. Mark, an only child, immigrated to Canada from Scotland with his parents when he was a child. Lori has three sisters, and is the daughter of two family physicians. They were attracted to each other’s intelligence, sense of humour, and high energy. Mark and Lori both enjoy the challenges of their careers, gourmet cooking, theatre, and travelling.
Lori and Mark’s son was unexpectedly conceived early in their relationship. Lori’s previous relationship was difficult, and Mark was not interested in getting married. However, her parents repeatedly reminded her that they were getting too old to help her raise another baby. Lori’s sisters are all married. Although her family didn’t really care for Mark and thought he was too controlling, Lori wanted her children to have a father, and so she and Mark moved in together. 2. LMFT Mable has been seeing Davey (5-years-old) for almost a year. Throughout the treatment, Davey has talked about his relationship with his parents and how their divorce makes him sad. Davey has indicated that while he loves his Mom, he likes spending time with his Dad more because his Dad doesn’t yell at him as much and Mom seems to always “be out.” Recently, Mom has called LMFT Mable and asked for a copy of Davey’s file so she can “use it in the custody battle.” LMFT Mable is not sure whether she is legally mandated to turn over the file to Mom. Also, she recently received a subpoena from Dad’s attorney for Davey’s file. LMFT Mable is not sure if she can legally or clinically should turn over the files.

At 16, Ray seemed to have a good life. He had a high IQ and a 4.0 GPA. He had lots of friends, and they enjoyed hanging out. What no one knew was that Ray’s home life was miserable. His stepfather, a successful businessman who had married Ray’s mother 10 years earlier, had always rejected Ray the boy. The stepfather constantly belittled Ray in public and at home. Ray’s mother could do nothing to protect her son. Nor could she protect herself from the physical abuse her husband inflicted on her. Frequently Ray witnessed his stepfather assaulting his mother, throwing her to the floor and punching her. His half-sister, 11 years his junior, was adored by the father because she was his biological daughter. The rejection by the stepfather and earlier separation from his biological father impacted Ray’s self-perception, and by age 17 Ray was acting out. His MO was burglarizing the homes of the affluent. Sometimes he had help from friends and other times he went in alone. As he progressed in his criminal behavior, he found himself entering homes where people were present and asleep, also referred to as hot burglaries. He reported how powerful and in control he felt when standing in a bedroom of his victims while they slept. Later he would masturbate while thinking about the burglaries.
Case 2. Family Homicide
A devout Christian, married woman living in Florida had 6 children. She suffered from depression for many years. Each pregnancy and the addition of another child added to her stress and depression. Over time her conditioned worsened and her family insisted that she seek therapy. She was prescribed anti-psychotic medications and regular visits with a therapist. Over time her doses of medications doubled but her depression pulled her down into states of psychosis. There were moments of clarity. She admitted to her therapist that she was having thoughts of harming her children. That admission resulted in someone being with her at all times to supervise.
Her husband was not convinced that there was anything really wrong with her other than that she could use a “good swift kick in the pants” to get her back on track. Besides, they both wanted children. They even decided that she would go off her anti-psychotic medication so she could get pregnant again. Besides, he argued, it was God’s will for them that they have lots of children. In truth the woman had actually reported to her therapist that it was her husband who wanted more children and that he convinced her it was the right thing to do and that all would be well according to God’s plan.
The husband soon decided that his wife really did not need constant supervision and, without notifying the therapist, he went off to work leaving her alone with the 6 children. Family violence laws under review after spate of abuse cases
SINGAPORE — In light of recent high-profile cases of child abuse, the laws are being reviewed to enhance deterrence of family violence and to ensure that those responsible are appropriately dealt with, said Minister for Social and Family Development Tan Chuan-Jin yesterday.
“(We) need to look at our laws in terms of whether there is sufficient deterrence, whether the way consequences are meted out is the way we want to go,” said Mr Tan, who added that the Home Affairs Ministry and Law Ministry are looking into the issue. Two weeks ago, a couple were jailed for their ruthless torture of a two-year-old toddler, Mohamad Daniel Mohamad Nasser, which led to his death last November.
The toddler’s mother, Zaidah, 41, was sentenced to 11 years’ jail for voluntarily causing grievous hurt and child abuse.
Her boyfriend Zaini Jamari, 46, was given a 10-year jail term and 12 strokes of the cane for voluntarily causing grievous hurt to, and ill-treating, the boy.
Two days after the verdict, Law and Home Affairs Minister K Shanmugam posted on his Facebook page: “For cases like this, we need to see whether the current legal framework is adequate. They ruthlessly tortured the child for more than a month, and effectively killed him.”
He also said people must be encouraged to make a report “immediately” when they are aware of cases of abuse.
Expressing similar sentiments yesterday, Mr Tan said cases of family violence, including child and elderly abuse, often persist because bystanders have kept silent.

The Origin
Tea was brought to Japan from China (618-907 AD) by the Tang Dynasty. The first Tea
Ceremony is hinted in the 8th century by a Chinese Buddhist writer in the book dubbed “Cha
Ching”. Tea plants for medicinal consumption by Japanese priests and nobbles hallmarks (Japan
710-794). Religious consumption of tea was a practice developed by Myoan Eisai, the founder of
Zen Buddhism in the Rinzai sect temple. Tea processing began during this time. Pounding of tea
leaves prior to adding warm water, and tea whisking after hot water is poured over it form the
origins of tea ceremony (Abdennour & ebrary, 2007). Books titled “Ta Kuan Cha Lun” - General
View of Tea, and “Kissa Yojoki” - Tea drinking is good for health popularized the tea ceremony.

Seventeen-year-old Tanya is popular with her peers and frequently at odds with school rules. Tanya has been suspended on numerous occasions for disrespecting faculty, fighting, and general mischievousness. Several teachers as well as Assistant Principal Donner were convinced that Tanya significantly contributed to an increase in student disorder.
During class passing time in late April social studies teacher Frank Elliot reported to Assistant Principal Donner that he had seen Tanya follow Senior Franklyn Smith into the men’s restroom. Mr. Elliot reported that Tanya was in the restroom about a minute. Surveillance cameras confirmed Mr. Elliot’s report.
AP Donner confronted Tanya with the surveillance recording and stated “Tanya, did you really follow Franklyn into the men’s restroom?” Tanya admitted to following Franklyn into the restroom, but claimed that he had taken her cell phone and had dared her to follow him into the restroom to reclaim her property. School rules forbid the possession of cell phones during school hours. Students who violate the rule are assigned Saturday detention. AP Donner decided to suspend Tanya for 10 days for possession of a cell phone in school, flagrant disregard for school rules and disregard for decorum. Tanya’s parents immediately hired an attorney. Response from Classmate
In the case of Tanya and her ten-day suspension from school, there are a number of things that must be considered. These include circumstances, precipitating factors, and mitigating factors. After careful consideration of the facts fop the case and the circumstances, it is appropriate that Tanya was suspended. However, the suspension was not handled appropriately and there are other actions that would need to take place as well to justify the suspension of Tanya.
The most important thing to consider in this case, and the reason that the suspension of Taya is justified and valid, is that she broke two clear school rules. She had a cell phone in her possession during school hours, which is clearly a violation of school policy, and she also went into a male only restroom after the student named Franklyn Smith. The combination of these two factors, along with the prior history of her disruptive nature at school and her previous suspensions are the reasons why this suspension is justified.
It needs to be noted that the school rules forbidding the possession of a cell phone during school hours contains in it a specification that the punishment for a violation of that rule is a Saturday detention. Taken at face value, that would seem to suggest that the ten-day suspension of Tanya is excessive and out of order and therefore not justified. However, when the violation of that rule is taken in.

Marie, a 67-year-old grandmother, is fostering her 14-year-old granddaughter, Audrey. Marie wants to help Audrey and is even thinking about adopting her.
Marie has just learned that Audrey witnessed her father’s death from a heroin overdose. She has seen her mother overdose several times.
Because of her parents’ addiction, Audrey and her mother were homeless and were found living under a bridge.
Audrey’s mother, Elaine, demanded that Audrey panhandle for money, which she used to buy more drugs.
Elaine is trying to kick her habit and is accepted in a residential facility for long-term addiction treatment, instead of a short-term detox center, in the hopes that she can get Audrey back.
Audrey also dug through dumpsters to find enough food for herself and her mother. Despite being destitute, Audrey is terrified to leave her mother, for fear she will die as her father did.
After Elaine’s last overdose, Audrey was removed from her mother’s care and placed with her grandmother, who is estranged from Elaine.
Audrey is acutely malnourished and thin; while she denies using drugs, there are some apparent tracks on her arms.
Since moving in with Marie, she has been hoarding food and wants to sleep on the floor instead of the bed. There is also evidence that Audrey has been cutting herself.

Lori and Mark are a middle-aged couple, and have been living together for 17 years. Lori has a grown daughter from a previous relationship, and they have an adolescent son together.
Lori and Mark first met at a work-related medical conference, where they realized that in spite of their different backgrounds, they had a lot in common. Mark, an only child, immigrated to Canada from Scotland with his parents when he was a child. Lori has three sisters, and is the daughter of two family physicians. They were attracted to each other’s intelligence, sense of humour, and high energy. Mark and Lori both enjoy the challenges of their careers, gourmet cooking, theatre, and travelling.
Lori and Mark’s son was unexpectedly conceived early in their relationship. Lori’s previous relationship was difficult, and Mark was not interested in getting married. However, her parents repeatedly reminded her that they were getting too old to help her raise another baby. Lori’s sisters are all married. Although her family didn’t really care for Mark and thought he was too controlling, Lori wanted her children to have a father, and so she and Mark moved in together. After their son was born, Mark agreed to support their family and encouraged her to stay home with their son and her daughter. Lori was relieved to reduce her stress load and quit her job. Mark’s father passed away during this time, and his mother moved in with them to help Lori with the baby.
Lori was a homemaker for ten years, and then returned to work part-time. She is currently juggling the housework and her son’s busy schedule. As well, Lori has been caring for Mark’s mother who has recently been diagnosed with cancer. Mark and Lori are disappointed that their dream of taking their son and his grandmother on a trip to Scotland is now not possible. Lori’s daughter has decided that she would like to move back home and attend university. Tuition fees are an expense that Mark and Lori can’t afford. Lori is feeling suffocated, and would like to accept the full-time job offer she recently received.
Mark is not in favour of the promotion, even though it would mean additional income. He feels that Lori should continue working part-time, and maintain her responsibilities at home. Mark values his own traditional childhood, and wants their son to have a parent who is available for him. Mark’s own job requires extensive travel, and he doesn’t see how he could possibly take over some of Lori’s work at home. After the fifth session, she told LMFT Mark that she had been “cutting” but never near an artery. LMFT Mark again determined not to breach confidentiality. After the seventh session, Susie told LMFT Mark that she had been drinking heavily, and had started blacking out at parties, waking up in strange beds (clearly having had sexual intercourse). LMFT Mark decided to tell Susie’s parents about the drinking and blackouts.
2. LMFT Mable has been seeing Davey (5-years-old) for almost a year. Throughout the treatment, Davey has talked about his relationship with his parents and how their divorce makes him sad. Davey has indicated that while he loves his Mom, he likes spending time with his Dad more because his Dad doesn’t yell at him as much and Mom seems to always “be out.” Recently, Mom has called LMFT Mable and asked for a copy of Davey’s file so she can “use it in the custody battle.” LMFT Mable is not sure whether she is legally mandated to turn over the file to Mom. Also, she recently received a subpoena from Dad’s attorney for Davey’s file. LMFT Mable is not sure if she can legally or clinically should turn over the files.

At 16, Ray seemed to have a good life. He had a high IQ and a 4.0 GPA. He had lots of friends, and they enjoyed hanging out. What no one knew was that Ray’s home life was miserable. His stepfather, a successful businessman who had married Ray’s mother 10 years earlier, had always rejected Ray the boy. The stepfather constantly belittled Ray in public and at home. Ray’s mother could do nothing to protect her son. Nor could she protect herself from the physical abuse her husband inflicted on her. Frequently Ray witnessed his stepfather assaulting his mother, throwing her to the floor and punching her. His half-sister, 11 years his junior, was adored by the father because she was his biological daughter. The rejection by the stepfather and earlier separation from his biological father impacted Ray’s self-perception, and by age 17 Ray was acting out. His MO was burglarizing the homes of the affluent. Sometimes he had help from friends and other times he went in alone. As he progressed in his criminal behavior, he found himself entering homes where people were present and asleep, also referred to as hot burglaries. He reported how powerful and in control he felt when standing in a bedroom of his victims while they slept. Later he would masturbate while thinking about the burglaries.
Case 2. Family Homicide
A devout Christian, married woman living in Florida had 6 children. She suffered from depression for many years. Each pregnancy and the addition of another child added to her stress and depression. Over time her conditioned worsened and her family insisted that she seek therapy. She was prescribed anti-psychotic medications and regular visits with a therapist. Over time her doses of medications doubled but her depression pulled her down into states of psychosis. There were moments of clarity. She admitted to her therapist that she was having thoughts of harming her children. That admission resulted in someone being with her at all times to supervise.
Her husband was not convinced that there was anything really wrong with her other than that she could use a “good swift kick in the pants” to get her back on track. Besides, they both wanted children. They even decided that she would go off her anti-psychotic medication so she could get pregnant again. Besides, he argued, it was God’s will for them that they have lots of children. In truth the woman had actually reported to her therapist that it was her husband who wanted more children and that he convinced her it was the right thing to do and that all would be well according to God’s plan.
The husband soon decided that his wife really did not need constant supervision and, without notifying the therapist, he went off to work leaving her alone with the 6 children. He believed she needed some independence. The wife waited until she knew he was gone and placed the family dog in a secure space so he would not interfere with what she was about t ...

Family violence laws under review after spate of abuse cases
SINGAPORE — In light of recent high-profile cases of child abuse, the laws are being reviewed to enhance deterrence of family violence and to ensure that those responsible are appropriately dealt with, said Minister for Social and Family Development Tan Chuan-Jin yesterday.
“(We) need to look at our laws in terms of whether there is sufficient deterrence, whether the way consequences are meted out is the way we want to go,” said Mr Tan, who added that the Home Affairs Ministry and Law Ministry are looking into the issue. Two weeks ago, a couple were jailed for their ruthless torture of a two-year-old toddler, Mohamad Daniel Mohamad Nasser, which led to his death last November.
The toddler’s mother, Zaidah, 41, was sentenced to 11 years’ jail for voluntarily causing grievous hurt and child abuse.
Her boyfriend Zaini Jamari, 46, was given a 10-year jail term and 12 strokes of the cane for voluntarily causing grievous hurt to, and ill-treating, the boy.
Two days after the verdict, Law and Home Affairs Minister K Shanmugam posted on his Facebook page: “For cases like this, we need to see whether the current legal framework is adequate. They ruthlessly tortured the child for more than a month, and effectively killed him.”
He also said people must be encouraged to make a report “immediately” when they are aware of cases of abuse.
Expressing similar sentiments yesterday, Mr Tan said cases of family violence, including child and elderly abuse, often persist because bystanders have kept silent.

The Origin
Tea was brought to Japan from China (618-907 AD) by the Tang Dynasty. The first Tea
Ceremony is hinted in the 8th century by a Chinese Buddhist writer in the book dubbed “Cha
Ching”. Tea plants for medicinal consumption by Japanese priests and nobbles hallmarks (Japan
710-794). Religious consumption of tea was a practice developed by Myoan Eisai, the founder of
Zen Buddhism in the Rinzai sect temple. Tea processing began during this time. Pounding of tea
leaves prior to adding warm water, and tea whisking after hot water is poured over it form the

Seventeen-year-old Tanya is popular with her peers and frequently at odds with school rules. Tanya has been suspended on numerous occasions for disrespecting faculty, fighting, and general mischievousness. School rules forbid the possession of cell phones during school hours. Students who violate the rule are assigned Saturday detention. AP Donner decided to suspend Tanya for 10 days for possession of a cell phone in school, flagrant disregard for school rules and disregard for decorum. Tanya’s parents immediately hired an attorney. Response from Classmate
In the case of Tanya and her ten-day suspension from school, there are a number of things that must be considered. These include circumstances, precipitating factors, and mitigating factors. After careful consideration of the facts fop the case and the circumstances, it is appropriate that Tanya was suspended. However, the suspension was not handled appropriately and there are other actions that would need to take place as well to justify the suspension of Tanya.
The most important thing to consider in this case, and the reason that the suspension of Taya is justified and valid, is that she broke two clear school rules. She had a cell phone in her possession during school hours, which is clearly a violation of school policy, and she also went into a male only restroom after the student named Franklyn Smith. The combination of these two factors, along with the prior history of her disruptive nature at school and her previous suspensions are the reasons why this suspension is justified.
It needs to be noted that the school rules forbidding the possession of a cell phone during school hours contains in it a specification that the punishment for a violation of that rule is a Saturday detention. Taken at face value, that would seem to suggest that the ten-day suspension of Tanya is excessive and out of order and therefore not justified. However, when the violation of that rule is taken in.

Post 1: Specific learning disability (SLD) is a disability category included in the federal definition of educational disabilities. A learning disability is a disorder that generally includes the inability to use or understand language sufficiently enough to learn core academic subjects like reading, writing, or mathematics. The best practices for the identification, classification, and support of students in need of SLD services have been the focus of considerable research over the past century. The evidence-based practices schools have chosen to assess students who are at risk and identify SLD have ranged from the evaluation and comparison of test scores to more subject interventions and psychological assessments. As research uncovers more data regarding learning, each generation tries to improve how students are identified and classified (Fletcher, Stuebing, Morris, & Lyon, 2013). Currently, Multitiered system of supports (MTSS) is widely used in K-12 schools in the United States to identify and support students receiving SLD services. MTSS was intended to help all students by using a multifaceted approach to identifying students at risk or simply in need of additional support to be successful in a specific subject. MTSS includes evidence-based response to intervention (RTI) procedures (Barrett & Newman, 2018).
Barrett & Newman (2018) evaluated the effectiveness of MTSS for the identification and classification of students in special education departments serviced under the SLD label as well as the level of achievement attained over a period of ten years. Examining MTSS Implementation Across Systems for SLD Identification: A Case Study describes the effect of MTSS implementation on the identification and achievement of students in a midwestern regional educational service agency (RESA). The authors found that a significant body of research conducted in local schools showed improvement in academic achievement and student behavior when MTSS or RTI frameworks were implemented. Decreases in special education placements and less misclassification of learning disabilities were also significant (Barrett & Newman, 2018). However, these positive findings were shown to be incomplete or inaccurate by a recent nationwide study conducted across 13 states by the Department of Education (2015). This study revealed either a negative or neutral effect of MTSS on students. Referencing this seemingly contradictory data, Barrett and Newman (2018) recognize that one evidence-based approach is insufficient to meet the multifaceted and individual needs of students. The authors suggest that the reliance on IQ test and achievement test discrepancies, or an attempt to identify an SLD through a series of interventions are inadequate. They want to send him to his wealthy brother but know that Silas doesn't want to go there. Kelsey’s Frozen Confectionaries buys and distributes single-serve ice cream treats to convenience stores, ballparks, and amusement parks. In this project, you will create 1) a master budget performance report, and 2) a flexible budget performance report for Kelsey's Frozen Confectionaries. Your performance reports should be developed in such a way that any changes to the original assumptions will correctly ripple through the entire spreadsheet. After developing the performance reports, you will answer questions about the variances and determine whether the variances are consistent with management's explanation about operational changes that took place during the period.
Part 1) DIRECTIONS for Master Budget Performance Report:
1) Use the budget assumptions, along with Excel formulas, to populate the Master Budget column. Note: Your formulas must work such that if ANY of the budget assumptions change, the new assumptions ripple through the entire budget. 4) Format cells appropriately. Attention to detail makes a report look more professional. (For example, percentages shown as %, dollar signs using the accounting or currency format, underlines and double underlines where appropriate, zero decimal places for dollar amounts, etc.,).
5) Use the “If” statement function to show the variances as U or F. The “If” statement can be found under “Formulas, Logical”. Example: =IF(H7>=0,"F","U"). This formula means: If cell H7>0 or H7=0, then mark as “F”; If not greater than or equal to 0, mark as “U”. Be careful with revenues and expense variances since they should be opposite of one another. ALSO- The formula you use should mark any variance of “0” as an “F” since a zero variance means that budget expectations have been met. After using the function, check each line to make sure it is going in the direction you believe it should go.

Larry Cooper, Jr., was brought to the Community Youth Diversion Agency by his parents, Larry Cooper, Sr., and Nina Cooper. The County Juvenile Court referred Mr. and Mrs. Cooper following an incident in which Larry and some other boys were caught breaking into a neighborhood school. Some vandalism occurred, and the nurse's office was broken into. A small amount of marijuana was found on some of the boys. This is the first time Larry has gotten into trouble. A hearing has been set for June 14 to determine if Larry will be put on probation. Larry's schoolwork has been declining, and he is spending less time at home and is refusing to do household chores. Mrs. Cooper is very concerned about the possibility that her son may be involved with drugs. In an effort to prevent Larry's entry into the child welfare or juvenile justice system, the court has recommended he comply by attending your program. The family has requested the program's services and is willing to cooperate. However, they are also aware that the alternative to involvement in the program is to deal with the child welfare or juvenile justice system. Larry's impending placement in the child welfare or juvenile justice system for delinquent behavior is a main concern. Larry's behavior and the possible use of drugs is another concern. Mr. Cooper's job-related accident and subsequent unemployment has contributed to family breakdown and possible alcohol dependency. Mrs. Cooper has a desire to reduce the number of hours she works in order to spend more time with her family.
