Patient Addiction Analysis
The American hospital has a strong scent of cleaning supplies and fluctuating emotions. There is the
constant beeping of machines, allowing the stillness to be knowledgeable about the conditions of the
patients. Everything is white. Pristine, spotless. Fake. Hospitals run by western medicine are merely
fixing their patients, holding their bodies together until the next coming appointment. People need
healing, not fixing, and natural medicine is the answer.
Naturopathy solves diseases with methods excluding drugs and major surgery. Acupuncture,
massage, herbs, and other techniques are practiced to result in as noninvasive healing as possible. A
common approach is the analysis of a patient's lifestyle, and ideas for how to improve the harmful
areas are then suggested. Diet, exercise, sleep habits, stress, work and relationships are major factors
that receive focus. Attaining the patient's optimal health while encouraging the body to heal itself is
the true priority of natural medicine. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Scientists create pills for the purpose of giving Americans relief, but they may be hurting more than
helping. The unnatural chemicals within the doses affect the human body in ways not fully
considered when taken because, at the moment, the mind's focus subjects solely to the heightened
pain. Consequently, addiction can occur. Opiums in prescription drugs cause the release of artificial
endorphins, triggering a positive feeling in the brain. If the drugs are taken often enough, the brain
slowly stops producing natural endorphins, and the artificial ones fill the void. This causes the user
to have an increasingly greater need for them over time as the artificial endorphins become their
only source of

Generosity Of The Coolidge Scholarship Analysis
The generosity of the Coolidge Scholarship is a life–changing opportunity that would open doors for
me, paving a way to my future. There are numerous dreams and wishes I have for the time ahead;
among them being attending University of California–Berkeley ($60,000 each year), majoring in
pre–med, minoring in business, going to Bastyr University for my ND ($40,000 per year) and
opening private practice. If this sum for attending Berkeley were to be generously provided, my
debt would be greatly reduced and guide me into attending medical school earlier.
In my home, organic food is eaten and alternative medicine preferred over Western. It is normal to
drink tinctures when sick, and shots and drugs are non–existent. This lifestyle has impacting

Conventional Medicine Caused Me to Turn to Naturopathic Medicine
Each day doctors all over the globe prescribe people through the use of conventional medicine.
Little do many of these people know that conventional medicine does not actually heal the body, but
instead only treats the symptoms at the time. The alternative to this problem is naturopathic
medicine. Naturopathic medicine is a better alternative because it focuses primarily on proactive
measures, treats the condition and not just the symptoms, and targets the whole body. In Dr. Axe's
Conventional Medicine is the Leading Cause to Death, researchers state that "Americas leading
cause to death isn't heart disease or cancer: ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But, these bottles were not just pill bottles; they were supplements and at the time I had no idea how
much these supplements were going to impact my future. My mother had severe problems from
prescription drugs that almost caused her to die, but in the end she found the better health choice
with natural medicine which ultimately restored her body completely. Similarly, when I was about
eight years old I had an experience as well when I began to have excruciating stomach pains.
Because my mother still did not know much about holistic medicine, she did not bother to take me
to a holistic doctor. Instead I saw a countless number of different conventional doctors, however we
received the same answer of "We can't find anything wrong" over and over again. Finally, after
months, I was told that I had ulcers in my stomach. I had a procedure done and the doctors gave me
prescriptions that made the ulcers go away, however, a couple years later the problem recurred
again. At this point in time, we did not want to go through the same, miserable process again, so my
mother's friend reintroduced us to a holistic doctor. The doctor tested me and found that the root of
the problem was bacteria in my stomach called H. Pylori. I was put on a healthy diet and two
different supplements that ultimately healed not only the bacteria, but my body as a whole. It did not
seem like a big deal, but this process changed my life

Naturopathy in Public Health System
I am studying naturopathy 2 Naturopathy I am studying naturopathy Introduction We all are aware
of the allopathic and homeopathic medicines for the cure of several diseases as we are immune to
them since our childhood. Whenever there has been an infection, allergy or cold, the physician
prescribe us some allopathic medicines to get rid of the illness. Apart from these two modes of
medicines, there is another one which is not quite familiar to everyone. It is naturopathy or
naturopathic medicine, which is more sophisticated than the other two modes since there are no
side–effects of it and above all, it provides an insight into the mind, body and soul of the patient by
which naturopaths become able to have a better understanding for the cause and cure of the disease.
The treatment via naturopathy includes several therapies and techniques like hydrotherapy, physical
therapy, mind–body therapies, nutrition, behavior change, herbal medicine, acupuncture, healthy
eating and fasting etc (Mitchell 2012). The purpose of naturopathy is to develop awareness amongst
the general public that the eating habits and lifestyle should be changed so that they could enjoy the
best of their health. Also, since it helps in supporting the body's own healing abilities, thus the body
remains abstained from several infections and diseases. Naturopathic medical doctors focus not only
upon the cure of several chronic diseases but also on the prevention, and providing education to the

Naturopathy And Aromatherapy
Complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) refers to those practices, therapies and products
that fall outside the conventional medical community or curriculum, and encompasses such
therapies as acupuncture, naturopathy and aromatherapy (Sibbritt et al., 2014). The use of CAM in
pregnant women in Australia is steadily rising (Adams, Sibbritt & Lui, 2011), and recent research
has found that up to 91% of pregnant women in Australia are using at least one CAM therapy
(Frawley et al., 2013). Aromatherapy has been noted to be amongst the most popular CAM therapies
used by childbearing women (Sibbritt et al., 2014). Essential oils are extracted from aromatic plants

Findings vary regarding the success of aromatherapy in labour management, with a recent Cochrane
Database Systematic Review finding just two RCT studies exploring the effectiveness of
aromatherapy as pain management in labour (Smith, et al. 2011). Both were underpowered, lacking
in statistical significance and external validity (Smith, et al., 2011). Several smaller qualitative
studies have indicated that the use of aromatherapy can reduce anxiety, nausea, perception of pain
and the need for pain medication in labour (Conrad, 2010; Smith et al., 2011; Wray, 2011; Kaviani
et al., 2014; Dhany, Mitchell & Foy., 2012; Tillett & Ames, 2010; Horowitz, 2011). Postnatally,
specific essential oils have been reported to be beneficial, for their estrogenic and diuretic properties

properties (Tiran, 2011; Tillett & Ames, 2010). Chamomile and lavender have been found to be

Naturopathy
Complementary and alternative medicine is one of the largest growing trends in the health care
system today. Although this is a growing trend, many people are skeptical of whether this form of
health care can heal and prevent illness the way that it claims it can. There are many forms of
alternative medicine but the focal point of research will be naturopathy. Topics being discussed are
what naturopathy is and what it has to offer as a form of health care, how naturopathic doctors treat
their patients and what their credentials are, and how nutrition plays a role in this natural lifestyle
belief system. Quite simply naturopathy is a system which is concerned with the whole person,
rather than just the problems ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There is a belief that each person has a unique physical, mental, emotional, genetic, environmental,
social, sexual and spiritual makeup and that all of these factors affect our health. Therefore, the ND
includes these factors in a carefully tailored treatment strategy. Finally, the sixth principle, prevent
illness, is the belief that proactive medicine saves money, pain, misery and lives and that by getting
treatment for greater wellness, we're less likely to need treatment for future illness. This is why NDs
evaluate risk factors, heredity and vulnerability to disease. (1) Although some naturopaths are self–
taught and may still consider themselves a naturopathic doctor, they may not have taken any
licensing exam. There are naturopathic physicians who have actually earned a four–year medical
degree and passed the licensing exam. Licensed naturopathic physicians are required to take the
same basic science and medical courses at a four–year medical school that an M.D. is required to
take. In addition to standard medical curriculum, the naturopathic physician is required to complete
four years of training in clinical nutrition, acupuncture, homeopathic medicine, botanical medicine,
psychology, and counseling (to encourage people to make lifestyle changes in support of their
personal health). (1) A total of 12 states license naturopathic physicians. All states and provinces
with licensure laws require a resident course of at least four years and 4,100 hours

Argumentative Essay On Homeopathy
Homoeopathy is a modality that is commonly used by naturopaths. It is one of the most
controversial therapies in the world and is highly critiqued by the medical profession. This essay
will critically evaluate the controversy surrounding this modality as well as give reasons why
clinical trials do not support it. Suggestions regarding actions that can be taken to foster a more
collaborative model of practice between homoeopaths and other medical professions will be
discussed as well as an assertion on the value of homoeopathy in naturopathic practice.
Many conventional practitioners find homeopathy implausible due to several key concepts not being
consistent with fundamental concepts of science. Walther & Killen (2016) support this by stating

Reflection Essay On Naturopathy
Introduction:
In my studies with the School of Natural Health Sciences (SNHS) which I have taken on board,
selecting the various courses I have, related to the main subject area of Naturopathy, these included
studying the specific areas of; Nutrition, Herbalism, and Aromatherapy, I have found that all these
elements of Natural Health are interrelated with each other almost inseparably, one being linked to
the next and so forth, creating a perfect unity and harmony as a whole. Therefore, can best be
identified and incorporated into the field of interest known as Naturopathy. The reason why I feel
the work I have achieved in studying the different subjects/therapies I have been able to study (as
stated above), which I will be including within this Dissertation, has been successful, is largely
based on the fact that I have an intense and growing interest in the area of Natural Health. It is
something which I seem strongly drawn to due to personal life experiences and changes made for
the better having transitioned certain aspects of my life around, such as Nutrition & Dietary ... Show

Alternative Medicine, Alternative, Or Integrated Health
Everyday products are advertised claiming to be natural and cure any condition one may have.
Some of these products claim to be some ancient secrets with testimonials of people who say it
changed their life. These types of medicine are usually not proven and are called alternative
medicine, but are they safe? Alternative medicine is a growing trend, but most people don't realize
what harm could be done to their body by straying from conventional medicine. From the article "
Complementary, Alternative, or Integrated Health" from the Department of Health & Human
Services, alternative medicine is an uncommon treatment in place of conventional medicine and has
history of use. These types of medicine are hard to find because if they are studied and proven to
work they are accepted into conventional medicine practices. It is important to research an
alternative before starting one and to consult a medical professional. It is also important to
remember that some alternative medicines may work differently on different people and could also
not be effective for some people. ("Complementary"). In the article "Running the Numbers on
Alternative Medicine" published in Time by Amanda Gengler, "One third of Americans use some
form of alternative medicine." Insurance companies usually do not cover alternative medicines
leaving the patient to pay in full for their treatment ("Running the Numbers"). The cost and not
being able to guarantee that the treatment will work for them may be enough

What Makes A Doctor?
The typical reaction of a person when ill is to run to the doctor, receive a prescribed medication and
go about your merry way. Herbs and other natural remedies can be as effective as conventional
medicine. Our culture often encourages a dependence on medical doctors, drugs and healthcare
systems to fix ailments. What a naturopathic doctor does is establish the underlying reason of the
health problem: "Instead of looking at the signs and symptoms and then treating the disease,
herbalists look at the whole picture..." ("Health Services"). Natural medicine views the body and
mind as one, a dysfunction in one area affects the other area. How you feel physically, spiritually,
and mentally determines the state of overall health and wellbeing. When you don 't feel well every
aspect of life is impacted. I strongly believe all individuals deserve the utmost care to find out
exactly what is causing the health issue, rather than containing it with pain relievers. People all
around the world should be striving for optimal health and demanding honest care from physicians.
The body is constantly aiming to attain homeostasis, and naturopathic doctors firmly believe natural
treatments can greatly support this approach. Taking an active role in healing and treating the body
as a whole is misunderstood by the general population. In order to facilitate optimal function of the
body, it is essential to reinforce proper nourishment, balance and exercise on a daily basis. The pH

Background
Pro re nata is a Latin phrase meaning "for an unforseen need or contingency". 1 The most common
type of PRN medication administered by mental health professionals in acute mental health care
settings are psychotropic medications. Psychotropic comes from the Greek word Psycho, a
combining form meaning "psyche", which indicates the mind, soul or spirit as opposed to the body

Naturopathy or naturopathic medicine is a type of alternative medicinal system employing a wide

Much of the ideology and methodological underpinnings of naturopathy are based on vitalism and

Reflection Assignment Working as an intern caring for patients with cancer on the Adjunctive
Cancer Care (ACC) shift at the Robert Schad Naturopathic Clinic (RSNC) for this past year has

privilege to be a trusted part of the patients care experience. With the privilege of being a part of
patient's health care teams, there were many challenging aspects working with terminally ill
patients. I initially found it hard to fully commit to the therapeutic relationship; I wanted to maintain
some form of internal boundary to protect myself emotionally. I found as time when on, I was more
willing to open up and exposure my emotional vulnerability in order to fully meet their needs and be
there for the patient. It is a delicate balance trying to be there fully for your patient, care for them to
the fullest extent, as well as attempting to protect my own emotions and feelings. There is a give and
take to this balance, and it evolved as the relationship with the patient evolved and my ease in the
role of an intern matured. I have patients who are as close as a friend now, after a year of working
together. I am sad to be ending our therapeutic relationship due to the end of my internship, I am
also sad that I won't be having contact these patients anymore, or being kept up to date with their

Are you thinking about seeking naturopathy? You're not alone. This alternative form of medicine is
becoming increasingly popular. As people look to move away from harsh chemicals and severe side

You might still be unsure if naturopathy is right for you. If so, the best thing you can do is consult
with a naturopath and ask questions. This will help you make an informed health decision.
Here are some questions you should consider asking your naturopath.
1. Can I Still Use My Other Medications?

This might cause adverse outcomes or reduce the effectiveness of your medications. It's best to ask

2. How Long Will It Take to Cure Me?
If you've been using traditional medicine for months or years to no avail, it's understandably that
you'd be frustrated. You want to see results as quickly as possible so you can finally stop dealing
with symptoms.
Naturopathy seeks to heal the root cause of a health problem, rather than just reduce symptoms. For
this reason, it can take weeks or months for you to fully recover, depending on the cause and
severity of your health issue. In addition, everyone responds differently to treatment, so recovery
within a certain time frame typically cannot be guaranteed.
3. Will There Be Side Effects?
Though naturopaths use only natural remedies, there's still a chance that you could face side effects.
These side effects, however, are general milder in nature than the side effects you've likely
encountered with pharmaceuticals. Your naturopath can offer you information about the possible

Those categorized into being the teacher are idealistic organizers, focus on values and visions, are

help others realize their potential, are creative and dedicated, and have the ability to intuit others'
emotions and motivations. The personal strengths inventory was very accurate in its' assessment.

Many of these treatment modalities can be beneficial to the athletic population as treatment for
common injuries. Several studies have proved the effectiveness of different naturopathic treatment
modalities on athletic–type injuries. Conditions such as rotator cuff tendonitis and sprains of various
ligaments have been successfully treated using various naturopathic remedies according to several
studies. But there are also some studies arguing if naturopathic medicine is a legitimate and
effective way to treat conditions and injuries. The studies that argue the effectiveness of
naturopathic medicine have not thoroughly researched the proper treatment modalities used by NDs
and, therefore, cannot claim that naturopathic medicine is ineffective. The purpose of this paper is to
define Naturopathic medicine, discover the different treatment modalities used, and determine how
the modalities can apply to athletes. In 1892 the practice of embracing natural treatments and letting
oneself heal started to grow rapidly so the term "naturopathy" was created to identify this new,
emerging practice. The practice of naturopathy started in response to the traditional medical doctors
using toxic treatments that were potential harmful to the body and spirit. The original philosophies

the clinic at 2.00 pm and explained the purpose of my visit; Supervisor acknowledged my presence
and requested me to give a brief introduction about myself. The surroundings were very pleasant;
the interns were very friendly and the supervisor was very obliging and knowledgeable. He told me
that he is available to assist me with any kind of concern I might have during my visit. So, I didn 't
feel isolated during the observer ship. The first encounter was a follow up patient with a history of
rheumatoid arthritis, currently on disease modifying drugs which has developed Lichen Sclerosus.
The patient came to the clinic, seeking naturopathic treatment and recommendation for Lichen

The Pros And Cons Of Naturopathic Medicine
Naturopathic medicine is a form of unconventional medicine applying a wide array of natural
treatments, including homeopathy, herbalism, and acupuncture as well as diet and lifestyle
counseling to treat various conditions. One of the most common criticisms I have seen of natural
medicine is that it lacks supportive evidence for most of their treatment. This problem possibly
arises from limited research funding and some may see an underlying clash over the nature of
science itself e.g. homeopathic cures. Many people argue that most unconventional medical
interventions are not safe, valid, or effective as it lacks scientific basis and have been proven
ineffective.
I feel that no research study is perfect, and this is no exception. The research ... Show more content

Also, I think that people should be free to choose whatever method of healthcare they want, but
providing the option, people must be informed as to the safety and efficacy of whatever method they
choose. Naturopaths should be trained to be well equipped/knowledgeable of their strengths and
weaknesses before they enter the real world. People who don't know naturopathy enough may think
that it is non–evidence based and offer ineffective cures to treatment. Of course, sometimes some
patients possibly do feel better, since the placebo effect is a potent medicine and this does not lessen
their rationality. Sometimes it does become problematic to distinguish the psychotherapeutic benefit
of treatment from the actual effects of the specific treatment if controlled clinical trials have not
been performed. At the end, I feel it is more important to know whether our treatments are safe and
effective, regardless of whether they're natural or

The business is A naturopath clinic run from home. The clinic is located in Salisbury, southside of

clinic at home. Your allowing individuals to enter your home even tho it might be a completely
different entrance or room. This naturopathic practitioner treats a numerous of health conditions
including gastrointestinal problems, female and male reproductive issues, food allergies and

Lisa represents herself as your naturopath which is initiating that she is the one and only essentially
saying that she is the best. Being a naturopathic practitioner in Australia requires an individual to
have a degree/qualifications in naturopathy on top of that Lisa has degree in nutritional medicine. A

also, "integrative medicine" like acupuncture and meditation are approaches to medicine and
healthcare that are practiced in many places in the world, including in the United States. In fact an
article in the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (part of the Institutes of
Health [NIH]) reports that about 40 percent of Americans use healthcare strategies that were not
developed within the U.S.; those healthcare approaches and their histories are presented in this
paper.
When and where was naturopathy invented?
The history of healthcare and medicine always begins with Hippocrates, who was a disciple of
Aristotle, and the reason Hippocrates' approach to medicine is still valid today is because he was
interested in treating the causes of disease, not necessarily the symptoms. In time this approach
(preventative) "...fell out of favor" with American medical schools (according to the Naturopathic
Medicine Committee NMC). But by 1901, Dr. Benedict Lust began to develop a "...comprehensive
philosophy and system of health" that emphasized "...diet, exercise, physical medicine, herbs, and
homeopathy" as strategies to embrace in order to maintain strong healthy bodies (NMC).
In fact, Lust is known at the Father of Naturopathic Medicine (NMC), and he had developed his
approaches in Europe (first using water cure and herbal therapies) before bringing that

Lowering Fast Food, Cook At Home
Take charge of your health today before poor health creeps in and takes charge of you.
There comes a point in our lives when we wake up and realize it's time to take charge of our own
health. The problem is, we don't often reach that point until an underlying ailment creeps up on us.
However, it's understandable. When we're young, we tend to take our strong knees, sharp memory,
slim waists and general health for granted. If we only knew then what we know now, right? Well it's
never too late (or too early) to take charge of your own health. So, here's seven ways to get you
started.
Limit fast food, cook at home instead
Good health doesn't happen overnight, but thankfully, neither does bad health. Gobbling a fast–food
cheeseburger, fries and shake for dinner, doesn't mean you'll automatically wakeup with diabetes
and high blood pressure the next morning. Yet, if you eat like that a few times a week for several
years, you might develop chronic hypertension and other ailments.
Making a conscious effort to eat whole, preservative–free foods that are low in sugar and salt is a
great way to take charge of your health. You don't have to eliminate fast–food altogether, but you do
have to control it. If you have to eat out "get the grilled chicken sandwich," says Kim Lyons, former
trainer on The Biggest Loser, "customized with extra lettuce, tomato, and no mayo." You can even
cut back 100 calories, 20 grams of carbs and nearly 165 milligrams of sodium, by ditching the top

Principles Of Naturopathy
Naturopathy is a system of working towards the cure of diseases without using medicines. It is an
ancient and traditional science which integrates the physical, mental, and spiritual aspects of our
natural constitution. Naturopathy has the capacity to prevent and in some cases also cure the
disease. The main principles of Naturopathy are astounding. First, the reasons and remedies of all
diseases are the same; ailments develop due to the presence of intoxicants which are removed.
Second, the intoxicants cause diseases, not bacteria and viruses which simply feed off them. Third,
nature itself is the best 'doctor', the patient is cured, not the ailment. All levels of the body are
treated simultaneously and holistically. Finally, no medicines are used because Naturopathy is a
superb medicine in itself. The principal aim of Naturopathy is to teach people the art of healthy
living by changing their daily routine and habits–this not only cures the disease but makes our
bodies strong and glowing. o, what are the techniques that are involved? There are four
classifications: food, mud, water and massage ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

First, do no harm
Prevention is better than cure
Treat the whole person (body, mind, emotions, spirit)
Cooperate with the healing powers of nature; activate the body's innate healing forces
Identify, and focus treatment on the cause, rather than the symptoms, of disease

Substitute Treatment against Breast Cancer
Cancer is no longer a death sentence. The number of people who have survived cancer has increased
significantly in recent years. Some adult patients have a survival rate of 70% or more, while some
pediatric conditions can boast a higher cure rate. To survive this disease, it takes a lot of strength,
endurance and courage.
For breast cancer, treatments such as radiation, chemotherapy and surgery are used very often to
bring tumor under control, however, the root causes are never found. Moreover, these treatments
cover all patients and compromise their quality of life. This is where naturopathy can help bring
relief from side effects caused from radiations and return the overall health of the individual.

Benefits of Alternative Medicine
Alternative medicine believes in supporting the natural healing processes of the body. This means
that helps a better functioning of organs, for example, it does not destroy the liver function, such as
pharmaceutical products do. It means allowing the body to regulate their own cholesterol, blood
pressure and brain chemistry in a healthy way of support.
What patients are told is that the chemotherapy is destroying the normal and healthy functioning of
vital organs such as the liver, heart, brain and kidneys. Yes, it could also be a reduction of the tumor,
but the point here is not simply to get out of the treatment of cancer with only small tumors.
The point is to emerge as a healthy human being with a strong immune system and cell balance that
prevents or eliminates tumors. This kind of result is not offered by conventional medicine. To know

Research Paper On Naturopathy
Naturopathy or naturopathic medicine is a form of alternative medicine employing a wide array of
"natural" modalities, including homeopathy, herbalism, and acupuncture, as well as diet and lifestyle
counseling. Naturopaths favor a holistic approach with non–invasive treatment and generally avoid
the use of surgery and drugs. Naturopathic medicine contains many pseudoscientific concepts and is
considered ineffective and can be harmful, which raises ethical issues.[1–3]Naturopaths have
repeatedly been accused of being charlatans and practicing quackery.[4–8]
Much of the ideology and methodological underpinnings of naturopathy are based on vitalism and
self–healing, rather than evidence–based medicine.[9] Naturopathic education contains little of the
established clinical training and curriculum completed by primary care doctors, as naturopaths
mostly train by studying unscientific notions and practicing unproven interventions and diagnoses.
[1, 10] Naturopaths tend to oppose vaccines and teach their students anti– and alternative vaccine
practices, resulting in lower vaccination rates.[11–14] According to ... Show more content on

Naturopathic Medicine: A Case Study
When I finish nursing school I want to focus on working in the field of Naturopathic Medicine, with
a concentration in issue regarding the male and female reproductive organs. I would like to
concentrate on overall uterus toning and health and on natural male enhancement solutions. I love
looking at whole patient wellness through health promotion and disease prevention, attempting to

My goal is to provide individualized evidence–informed therapies that balance the least harmful and
most effective approaches to help facilitate the body's inherent ability to restore and maintain
optimal reproductive health. My desire to work, as a Naturopathic Nurse, in this arena is due to
three events in the past year. First, the muscle we call a uterus became intriguing to me in the Spring

blessed to attend and coach three births. All three were performed naturally. One was in the hospital

A person who has a weak immune system is highly susceptible to get sick frequently with flu, cold
and other minor infections. We agree that antibiotics have proved to be magical drugs but their
excess usage causes more harm than good.
Almost 99% people believe that antibiotics are effective in treating all bacterial and viral infections
but the truth is far from it. The reality is that antibiotics cannot fight against viruses, and taking
antibiotics to counter viral infections can further aggravate the condition. In some cases, the body
develops immunity against the drug bringing down the immunity level of the body. Taking a natural

From Yoga to natural medicines like neem, honey etc. Naturopathy believes in no or minimally
invasive techniques and using all natural medicines to cure diseases.
Personalized treatment –
Naturopathy does not believe in flat treatments where patients receive the same prognosis for the
same symptoms. Naturopaths study the symptoms and beyond to treat the problem at its roots and
not just cure the physical symptoms. Thus two people with the same physical symptoms might not
receive the same plan of treatment to cure them. This allows for personalized and individual
treatments that are inherently applicable to each patient. Thus this form of medicine goes to the
heart of the problem to rid the patient of physical symptoms as well as the underlying cause of the
sickness or disease.
It has been proved scientifically that Naturopathy, natural diet, and a healthy lifestyle can help in
boosting the health of the immune system and prevents the person from falling ill frequently due to
cold, flu and other minor ailments. People who have a strong immune system are less likely to suffer
from life–threatening ailments like

A Brief Note On The Health And Wellness Concepts
Using naturopathic medicine to prevent and treat seasonal influenza Part 1: World Health
Organization, or the WHO, defines health as "a state of complete physical, mental, social and
spiritual well–being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity" (World Health
Organization, 1948). It is interesting that the organization has not updated this definition since 1948,
even though medicine and health concepts evolved since then. The health and wellness concepts are
often used interchangeably. Wellness can be described as being healthy, or having optimal health.
There are eight dimensions of wellness: occupational, emotional, spiritual, environmental, financial,
physical, social, and intellectual. Each dimension of wellness is interrelated with another. Each
dimension is equally vital in the pursuit of optimum health. One can reach an optimal level of
wellness by understanding how to maintain and optimize each of the dimensions of wellness
(Ardell, 1988). Health is an interesting concept. It is sometimes the grass on the other side of the
fence, and other times how we compare ourselves to others. A comparison based on ever–changing
norms. When people define healthy, they often take others' health into consideration; this is often a
mistake, as it establishes false beliefs as in how healthy we should expect to be at a particular age. It
is clear that health and wellness have a strong hereditary nature, however environment, and lifestyle
are just as important to health.

Herbalism or phytotherapy has many definitions but in essence is the interaction between humans

of the herb to the disease or disease picture, 2. The harmony the herb has to an organ system, and 3.
The ability of the herb to assist healing in the body (Wood, 2018). Herbalism contains many

TheFreeDictionary.com (2018) defines Arndt/Schultz law as "the pharmacologic principle of
homeopathy, discovered by 19th century scientists, Hugo Schulz and Rudolf Arndt. It says that
weak stimuli accelerate physiological activity, medium stimuli inhibit physiological activity, and
strong stimuli halt physiological activity."
Mattson (2008) explains that "Hormesis is a term used by toxicologists to refer to a biphasic dose–
response to an environmental agent characterized by a low dose stimulation or beneficial effect and
a high dose inhibitory or toxic effect. In the fields of biology and medicine hormesis is defined as an
adaptive response of cells and organisms to a moderate (usually intermittent) stress."
The Arndt–Schultz law was named after Hugo Paul Friedrich Schultz and Rudolf Arndt in 1888. It
has since been replaced with the term 'Hormesis" to fully explain the principle thereof. The basis of
the theory or law is that a low dose of medication or remedy will stimulate cellular activity for
healing, a medium dose will inhibit activity and a high dose will stop all cellular activity. This is in
accordance with the rule of a single dose and minimal dose to encourage healing as put out in the

Introduction
Allopathy
1. Allopathic medicine is an expression commonly used by homeopaths and proponents of other
forms of alternative medicine to refer to mainstream medical use of pharmacologically active agents
or physical interventions to treat or suppress symptoms or pathophysiologic processes of diseases or
conditions. The expression was coined in 1810 by the creator of homeopathy, Samuel Hahnemann
(1755–1843). In such circles, the expression "allopathic medicine" is still used to refer to "the broad
category of medical practice that is sometimes called Western medicine, biomedicine, evidence–
based medicine, or modern medicine" (see the article on scientific medicine).

Patient Addiction Analysis

  • 1. Patient Addiction Analysis The American hospital has a strong scent of cleaning supplies and fluctuating emotions. There is the constant beeping of machines, allowing the stillness to be knowledgeable about the conditions of the patients. Everything is white. Pristine, spotless. Fake. Hospitals run by western medicine are merely fixing their patients, holding their bodies together until the next coming appointment. People need healing, not fixing, and natural medicine is the answer. Naturopathy solves diseases with methods excluding drugs and major surgery. Acupuncture, massage, herbs, and other techniques are practiced to result in as noninvasive healing as possible. A common approach is the analysis of a patient's lifestyle, and ideas for how to improve the harmful areas are then suggested. Diet, exercise, sleep habits, stress, work and relationships are major factors that receive focus. Attaining the patient's optimal health while encouraging the body to heal itself is the true priority of natural medicine. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Scientists create pills for the purpose of giving Americans relief, but they may be hurting more than helping. The unnatural chemicals within the doses affect the human body in ways not fully considered when taken because, at the moment, the mind's focus subjects solely to the heightened pain. Consequently, addiction can occur. Opiums in prescription drugs cause the release of artificial endorphins, triggering a positive feeling in the brain. If the drugs are taken often enough, the brain slowly stops producing natural endorphins, and the artificial ones fill the void. This causes the user to have an increasingly greater need for them over time as the artificial endorphins become their only source of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There are numerous dreams and wishes I have for the time ahead; among them being attending University of California–Berkeley ($60,000 each year), majoring in pre–med, minoring in business, going to Bastyr University for my ND ($40,000 per year) and opening private practice. If this sum for attending Berkeley were to be generously provided, my debt would be greatly reduced and guide me into attending medical school earlier. In my home, organic food is eaten and alternative medicine preferred over Western. It is normal to drink tinctures when sick, and shots and drugs are non–existent. This lifestyle has impacting ... • 3. Naturopathic Medicine Hannah Brantley English 1101 Causal Essay September 26, 2016 Conventional Medicine Caused Me to Turn to Naturopathic Medicine Each day doctors all over the globe prescribe people through the use of conventional medicine. Little do many of these people know that conventional medicine does not actually heal the body, but instead only treats the symptoms at the time. The alternative to this problem is naturopathic medicine. Naturopathic medicine is a better alternative because it focuses primarily on proactive measures, treats the condition and not just the symptoms, and targets the whole body. In Dr. Axe's Conventional Medicine is the Leading Cause to Death, researchers state that "Americas leading cause to death isn't heart disease or cancer: ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... But, these bottles were not just pill bottles; they were supplements and at the time I had no idea how much these supplements were going to impact my future. My mother had severe problems from prescription drugs that almost caused her to die, but in the end she found the better health choice with natural medicine which ultimately restored her body completely. Similarly, when I was about eight years old I had an experience as well when I began to have excruciating stomach pains. Because my mother still did not know much about holistic medicine, she did not bother to take me to a holistic doctor. Instead I saw a countless number of different conventional doctors, however we received the same answer of "We can't find anything wrong" over and over again. Finally, after months, I was told that I had ulcers in my stomach. I had a procedure done and the doctors gave me prescriptions that made the ulcers go away, however, a couple years later the problem recurred again. At this point in time, we did not want to go through the same, miserable process again, so my mother's friend reintroduced us to a holistic doctor. The doctor tested me and found that the root of the problem was bacteria in my stomach called H. Pylori. I was put on a healthy diet and two different supplements that ultimately healed not only the bacteria, but my body as a whole. It did not seem like a big deal, but this process changed my life ... • 4. Naturopathy in Public Health System I am studying naturopathy 2 Naturopathy I am studying naturopathy Introduction We all are aware of the allopathic and homeopathic medicines for the cure of several diseases as we are immune to them since our childhood. Whenever there has been an infection, allergy or cold, the physician prescribe us some allopathic medicines to get rid of the illness. Apart from these two modes of medicines, there is another one which is not quite familiar to everyone. It is naturopathy or naturopathic medicine, which is more sophisticated than the other two modes since there are no side–effects of it and above all, it provides an insight into the mind, body and soul of the patient by which naturopaths become able to have a better understanding for the cause and cure of the disease. The treatment via naturopathy includes several therapies and techniques like hydrotherapy, physical therapy, mind–body therapies, nutrition, behavior change, herbal medicine, acupuncture, healthy eating and fasting etc (Mitchell 2012). The purpose of naturopathy is to develop awareness amongst the general public that the eating habits and lifestyle should be changed so that they could enjoy the best of their health. Also, since it helps in supporting the body's own healing abilities, thus the body remains abstained from several infections and diseases. Although this is a growing trend, many people are skeptical of whether this form of health care can heal and prevent illness the way that it claims it can. There are many forms of alternative medicine but the focal point of research will be naturopathy. Topics being discussed are what naturopathy is and what it has to offer as a form of health care, how naturopathic doctors treat their patients and what their credentials are, and how nutrition plays a role in this natural lifestyle belief system. This is why NDs evaluate risk factors, heredity and vulnerability to disease. Reflection Essay On Naturopathy Introduction: In my studies with the School of Natural Health Sciences (SNHS) which I have taken on board, selecting the various courses I have, related to the main subject area of Naturopathy, these included studying the specific areas of; Nutrition, Herbalism, and Aromatherapy, I have found that all these elements of Natural Health are interrelated with each other almost inseparably, one being linked to the next and so forth, creating a perfect unity and harmony as a whole. Some of these products claim to be some ancient secrets with testimonials of people who say it changed their life. Alternative medicine is a growing trend, but most people don't realize what harm could be done to their body by straying from conventional medicine. These types of medicine are hard to find because if they are studied and proven to work they are accepted into conventional medicine practices. It is important to research an alternative before starting one and to consult a medical professional. • 14. What Makes A Doctor? The typical reaction of a person when ill is to run to the doctor, receive a prescribed medication and go about your merry way. Herbs and other natural remedies can be as effective as conventional medicine. Our culture often encourages a dependence on medical doctors, drugs and healthcare systems to fix ailments. What a naturopathic doctor does is establish the underlying reason of the health problem: "Instead of looking at the signs and symptoms and then treating the disease, herbalists look at the whole picture..." ("Health Services"). Natural medicine views the body and mind as one, a dysfunction in one area affects the other area. How you feel physically, spiritually, and mentally determines the state of overall health and wellbeing. When you don 't feel well every aspect of life is impacted. I strongly believe all individuals deserve the utmost care to find out exactly what is causing the health issue, rather than containing it with pain relievers. People all around the world should be striving for optimal health and demanding honest care from physicians. The body is constantly aiming to attain homeostasis, and naturopathic doctors firmly believe natural treatments can greatly support this approach. Reflection Assignment Working as an intern caring for patients with cancer on the Adjunctive Cancer Care (ACC) shift at the Robert Schad Naturopathic Clinic (RSNC) for this past year has been a great learning experience. Although it had its own unique set of challenges, it has been a real privilege to be a trusted part of the patients care experience. With the privilege of being a part of patient's health care teams, there were many challenging aspects working with terminally ill patients. I initially found it hard to fully commit to the therapeutic relationship; I wanted to maintain some form of internal boundary to protect myself emotionally. I found as time when on, I was more willing to open up and exposure my emotional vulnerability in order to fully meet their needs and be there for the patient. It is a delicate balance trying to be there fully for your patient, care for them to the fullest extent, as well as attempting to protect my own emotions and feelings. There is a give and take to this balance, and it evolved as the relationship with the patient evolved and my ease in the role of an intern matured. I have patients who are as close as a friend now, after a year of working together. I am sad to be ending our therapeutic relationship due to the end of my internship, I am also sad that I won't be having contact these patients anymore, or being kept up to date with their health. You want to see results as quickly as possible so you can finally stop dealing with symptoms. Naturopathy seeks to heal the root cause of a health problem, rather than just reduce symptoms. For this reason, it can take weeks or months for you to fully recover, depending on the cause and severity of your health issue. In addition, everyone responds differently to treatment, so recovery within a certain time frame typically cannot be guaranteed. 3. Will There Be Side Effects? The six basic principles of naturopathic medicine set the standards for the beliefs of the practice. But there are also some studies arguing if naturopathic medicine is a legitimate and effective way to treat conditions and injuries. The studies that argue the effectiveness of naturopathic medicine have not thoroughly researched the proper treatment modalities used by NDs and, therefore, cannot claim that naturopathic medicine is ineffective. The purpose of this paper is to define Naturopathic medicine, discover the different treatment modalities used, and determine how the modalities can apply to athletes. In 1892 the practice of embracing natural treatments and letting oneself heal started to grow rapidly so the term "naturopathy" was created to identify this new, emerging practice. The Pros And Cons Of Naturopathic Medicine Naturopathic medicine is a form of unconventional medicine applying a wide array of natural treatments, including homeopathy, herbalism, and acupuncture as well as diet and lifestyle counseling to treat various conditions. One of the most common criticisms I have seen of natural medicine is that it lacks supportive evidence for most of their treatment. This problem possibly arises from limited research funding and some may see an underlying clash over the nature of science itself e.g. homeopathic cures. People who don't know naturopathy enough may think that it is non–evidence based and offer ineffective cures to treatment. When and where was naturopathy invented? The history of healthcare and medicine always begins with Hippocrates, who was a disciple of Aristotle, and the reason Hippocrates' approach to medicine is still valid today is because he was interested in treating the causes of disease, not necessarily the symptoms. In time this approach (preventative) "...fell out of favor" with American medical schools (according to the Naturopathic Medicine Committee NMC). There comes a point in our lives when we wake up and realize it's time to take charge of our own health. The problem is, we don't often reach that point until an underlying ailment creeps up on us. However, it's understandable. When we're young, we tend to take our strong knees, sharp memory, slim waists and general health for granted. If we only knew then what we know now, right? Well it's never too late (or too early) to take charge of your own health. So, here's seven ways to get you started. Limit fast food, cook at home instead Good health doesn't happen overnight, but thankfully, neither does bad health. Gobbling a fast–food cheeseburger, fries and shake for dinner, doesn't mean you'll automatically wakeup with diabetes and high blood pressure the next morning. Yet, if you eat like that a few times a week for several years, you might develop chronic hypertension and other ailments. Making a conscious effort to eat whole, preservative–free foods that are low in sugar and salt is a great way to take charge of your health. You don't have to eliminate fast–food altogether, but you do have to control it. If you have to eat out "get the grilled chicken sandwich," says Kim Lyons, former trainer on The Biggest Loser, "customized with extra lettuce, tomato, and no mayo." It is an ancient and traditional science which integrates the physical, mental, and spiritual aspects of our natural constitution. Naturopathy has the capacity to prevent and in some cases also cure the disease. The main principles of Naturopathy are astounding. First, the reasons and remedies of all diseases are the same; ailments develop due to the presence of intoxicants which are removed. Second, the intoxicants cause diseases, not bacteria and viruses which simply feed off them. Third, nature itself is the best 'doctor', the patient is cured, not the ailment. All levels of the body are treated simultaneously and holistically. Finally, no medicines are used because Naturopathy is a superb medicine in itself. A Brief Note On The Health And Wellness Concepts Using naturopathic medicine to prevent and treat seasonal influenza Part 1: World Health Organization, or the WHO, defines health as "a state of complete physical, mental, social and spiritual well–being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity" (World Health Organization, 1948). It is interesting that the organization has not updated this definition since 1948, even though medicine and health concepts evolved since then. The health and wellness concepts are often used interchangeably. Wellness can be described as being healthy, or having optimal health. There are eight dimensions of wellness: occupational, emotional, spiritual, environmental, financial, physical, social, and intellectual. Each dimension of wellness is interrelated with another. Each dimension is equally vital in the pursuit of optimum health. One can reach an optimal level of wellness by understanding how to maintain and optimize each of the dimensions of wellness (Ardell, 1988). Health is an interesting concept. It is sometimes the grass on the other side of the fence, and other times how we compare ourselves to others. A comparison based on ever–changing norms. When people define healthy, they often take others' health into consideration; this is often a mistake, as it establishes false beliefs as in how healthy we should expect to be at a particular age. It is clear that health and wellness have a strong hereditary nature, however environment, and lifestyle are just as important to health. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
