Who would be the audience for your media product?
I think the publication ‘Total Film’ was be suitable for out
thriller because after researching the magazine, they have
already reviewed films that are similar in genre to our film. For
instance, they have previously reviewed Inception
(psychological thriller) which Total Film has described as an
‘ultimate head trip’ and Contagion (mystery/suspense thriller)
which Total Film described as a ‘convincing thriller’. If these
thrillers are being reviewed in their magazine, an audience
which enjoy watching these sorts of films must buy the
magazine to see if they are a good watch. So our thriller would
be suitable with other films similar to it. Along with thriller
films, there are other genres reviewed within the magazine. I
think that having such a variety means people who enjoy films,
would not only like action films for example, but also enjoy
thriller films. This is another reason why I think our film would
the suitable to go into Total Film magazine. This magazine
would also be good to have our film review in, because it can
be found in so many places – in a magazine, online and it has a
Facebook page for people to join. Having such a wide variety
of places to see that magazine, means our film would have big
publicity, and more people would know about it. The
magazine has a five star rating system, so if our film review
was in this magazine the reader would be able to see if our
film is worth watching. If the magazine gave our film a high
score it would encourage others who enjoy watching thrillers
to see our film.
A potential film review:
2012: the year of sequels, legendary films being re-made in 3D and Olympic hype, comes an original psychological thriller. Like
the suspense and thrill of films? Then you will love The Thicket. Alexandria Hasler does an effortless performance as Allie, a
young school girl who commits crimes in a sleeping state. In a fight to escape herself from committing these acts she must go
and find out who is responsible for this.
Lauren Parker, also director of films Save the Earth (2009) and Black and White Predator (2010), creates a fantastic watch. Not
your usual thriller full of jumps and scares, the Thicket is definitely worth the watch if you love a good thrill.
Kisu Luwaya, also starring in the films Monitored (2011) and The Scope (2010), plays a chilling psychologist who is out to help
the Allie (Alexandria Hasler) and is set out to storm the BAFTAS and Oscars this time next year for her role in this film. A
different role for this young lady, but an excellent one at that – she isn’t what you would expect from this actress!
Full of thrills, suspense, action and terror this film is definitely worth the watch and has taken the critic’s hearts. If you liked
Inception (2010) then this is the film for you. Cinematographer Maisie Sobey so neatly blended the reality and surreal states so
it is virtually undetectable.
