I consider my style bold and eclectic, but based in tradition. I am inspired by the work of designers
such as Albert Hadley and David Hicks, and architects Addison Mizner and David Adler. I adore color,
pattern, and collecting. I love to accessorize and I hardly ever leave a project without using at least one
animal print. However, I believe that great design does not have to come at a cost to the environment
and find that sustainability is a high priority in any project that I work on.
As sustainable design grows, it has incorporated and embraced comfort, health, well-being, resource,
energy-efficiency and environmental protection. Furthermore, the concept of sustainable design has
taken into consideration the effects that a building may have on a person or environment. As Winston
Churchill once said, “We shape our buildings- then our buildings shape us”. I am excited to be one of
many leading the forefront of this growing movement and I believe that elegance in design cannot be
achieved any other way.
As my career in interior design continues, I seek to continually be furthering myself and what I can
contribute to a client. In the next year, I plan to become LEED certified. I believe design is constantly
evolving- by attending seminars, lectures, and reading design articles I will be able to be aware of
design techniques around the world. I will also be better able to provide my client with the latest design
concepts, cutting edge building materials, and current construction concepts.

The design concept behind Urban Canvas is to inspire. From his-
toric caves to the cutting edge, art has always been inspiring and
influential. Urban Canvas is an enclave and attraction for young
artists. This space is a place where locals as well an influential fea-
tured artists display their creativity and their thoughts.

Maintaining the open, unfinished, and raw architecture of the
original building, the space was filled with different surfaces
and mediums to highlight the various art and textures in an
effort to inspire all who enter the space. Emma and Andrew
Sloan purchased two adjoining, three story brick row houses
and wanted to combine two units into a single art gallery.

This building was devised to ensure full ADA access into the public
portions and incorporates sustainable materials throughout the en-
tire design. The first and second floor is intended to function as an
environmental envelope in order to exhibit artwork of all types. The
third floor is designed to be the owner’s personal living space.

The design inspiration for this room came from the undulating
curves of the ocean. With an eclectic mix of furniture and styles,
the design of each piece incorporates the fluidity and shapes found
beneath the sea. If you look closely you may see legs mimicking
those of a crab, the back of a couch resembling the movement of
a wave, or the arms of a chair spanning outward like a stingray.

In order to comply with the clients’ wishes I kept the colors subdued
and neutral in order to allow the colorful pallet of the artwork to be a
main focal point in this room. Incorporated materials such as dark
ebony veneer and stainless steel contribute to the overall feel of
this space. Through such use of stainless steel I was able to create
shiny reflective surfaces that mimic the suns reflection on the water.
The curvilinear lines keep the furniture comfortable but also provide
a slight edge to the overall design of the room.

The client was a world traveler and had an extensive collection of
glass, pottery, sculptures and crafts. Ample storage was provided
through the use of a wall unit that appears to be art while still main-
taining its function. A diverse collection of chairs were designed to
be aesthetically pleasing as well as comfortable. This suite of furni-
ture was designed for the intent of entertaining and lounging, while
still being able to withstand everyday wear and tear.

Cru Chic
The design concept for Cru Chic was largely inspired by the soul of the
city of San Luis Obispo, California. When guests walk into Cru Chic they
will experience an essence of pure comfort while also enjoying the di-
verse and free sense of the city. The innate creative talents that went into
this project were nurtured not only by a love for the city, but also by love of
the vintage spirit and eclectic art that lingers throughout the town.

Cru Chic
First Level Floor Plan of Cru Chic
San Luis Obispo is known for its many conversions of old homes to the bou-
tique shops and quaint businesses that now line the city streets. These local
businesses do a fantastic job of maintaining the previous architectural ele-
ments of the classic 1930’s homes while improvising the structure to fit their
more modern needs. The goal was to create a “home” with a farmhouse wrap
around porch where hotel guests can sit and enjoy the town. Cru Chic will not
only create a new haven for guests to reside in, but it also adds to the classic
vintage architecture that already exists throughout the town.

The city of San Luis is also very environmentally conscious. This mind-set
was incorporated into the design by the use of recycled and green prod-
ucts. From recycled wood floors to beach glass counter tops, the town’s
residents will take pleasure in knowing that our construction will not harm
the earth or our guests. Our goal is that visitors will find the aroma filled
rooms irresistible, each designed with love and care.

Harmony Harbor is a safe haven dedicated to providing comfort to
those who are without a permanent home. Homeless adults often
face magnified conditions of aging and rehabilitation needs are
rarely attended to in their community. Harmony Harbor addresses
these critical issues through the use of animal-assisted physical
therapy. Such therapy methods, with the client’s pet or the clinic’s,
help boost patients’ motivation and self-confidence.
