Dear Judges:
My name is Matthew Abdalla, and I am a senior at Creekview High School. I am a
Private First Class in the Georgia Army National Guard. I am also a Life Scout in Troop 469,
working on my Eagle Scout rank. I want to go to college and get a bachelor’s degree in
International Affairs and a minor in Criminal Justice, from North Georgia College and State
University. My senior project is a three-dimensional version of my Eagle Scout project, which is
blazing a fitness trail for the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Department.
My product is a three-dimensional model of my upcoming Eagle Scout project, which is
blazing a fitness trail for the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Department. My product relates to my
research paper because the topic of my paper is “Fitness Issues in Law Enforcement.”I learned
that policemen and policewomen face many challenges in their own lives while they are on the
job, like alcoholism, obesity, depression, addiction to drugs, divorce, and death. Fitness is the
only way to keep law enforcement officials healthy and able to do their jobs. The obstacles I
overcame while I was working on my project were: time management, scheduling times to meet
with my facilitator, and promptness.
I want to have a career in law enforcement either as a federal agent for the FBI or CIA, or
as a policeman. The topic of my research paper and the research I did for my project have a
profound correlation to my future career, because I need to stay physically fit and mentally sharp
for me to accomplish my goals and get a job as an officer of the law. I learned that I can use time
management, and I can turn work in by the date set by the teacher. I learned that I can send
business emails and make business calls. I learned definitely that I want to pursue a career in law
enforcement when I graduate college.
The senior project is a very time consuming task, and it has many pros and cons for
example, it taught me about all of my weaknesses and how Ican improve them as well as
teaching me how to use proper devices like a day planner, or a iPod touch to keep track of dates.
I believe that the senior project has been very beneficial to me.
Sincerely,
Matthew A Abdalla
