Diego Corrientes Mateos was a famous Spanish bandit from Seville known for robbing rich people and giving to the poor. He was active from 1757 to 1781 when he was captured in Portugal and brought back to Seville, where he was tried, sentenced to death by hanging, and his body was cut into pieces and distributed to different provinces. His head was buried in a church in Seville and later found with a metal hook still in his cranium.
