2. BASAJAUNAK
The Lord of the Woods or Basajauna is a Basque myth that also exists in the Aragonese
Pyrenees and could be a excellent version of the Yeti. They were thought to build
megaliths, protect flocks of livestock and teach skills such as agriculture and ironworking
to humans. Apparently, “Basajaunak” were very large furry men who lived in the forest.
They also hadthe ability to perceive the cattle of the farmers. Some people say that they
are good spirits, but in some stories they say that they become aggressive.
