2. My Idea
ā¢ I've decided to change my idea for my
production. My production is going to be a 1 part
documentary about drugs in the young
generation and society today. It will be in a
docusoap/talking heads style documentary,
consisting of interviews with young people asking
of their knowledge about different drugs, what
the norm is when it comes to taking drugs in
young peoples lives, and learn the affects drug
taking (at a young age) can have on their lives.
3. Style
ā¢ The documentary style I am going to choose
will be talking heads/docusoap. This is
because I will be interviewing people in the
documentary but it will also be a part of a
series based on the current antics in youth
culture.
4. Genre
ā¢ My documentary will be of a
young adult/adult genre, aimed at
young adults who either take
drugs, are thinking of getting
involved in drug abuse or who are
simply curious of their own kind.
My aim is to also educate the
older generation of how the
younger generation perceive
drugs in the year 2015, and what
is the norm when it comes to
drugs nowadays.
5. Outline of production
ā¢ Start: Discovering different drugs and showing
teenās knowledge on drugs and their names
(nicknames etc), interviews with young adults on
their experiences with drugs and their opinion on
a few factors to do with drugs.
ā¢ Middle: Anecdotes from drug users who abused
drugs in their teens (life updates), of how drugs
did or didnāt affect their lives.
ā¢ Balancing out the affects of drugs, leaving the
opinion of drug use to the audience to decide on
themselves.
6. Locations/Characters
ā¢ Well lighted areas to emphasize the youth of
these teens, also to juxtapose the dark drug
theme.
ā¢ Characters will be my friends (+max) who are
the age Iām basing my program on.
ā¢ The location of filming can be anywhere from
school (where teens usually are), skate park,
outside ASDA, dark roads/alleyways.
7. Product Research
Cherry Healy: Old Before Our Time
ā¢ I watched this documentary for inspiration, as its to do with
drugs and young people, with a young adult target audience. It is
a three part documentary presented by Cherry Healey. The
program was broadcasted on Thursdays at 8pm, on BBC3. This
documentary shows how taking drugs from a young age can
speed up your life, aging your earlier. For example, a 23 year old
man had to have his bladder removed due to him overdosing on
Ketamin. The Ketamin shrank his bladder, therefore not allowing
him to urinate anymore. We are then informed about how, when
and where drugs are taken. We are also informed on the effects
of other drugs such as cannabis.
