3. Semester Highlights
Colleen Sand’s Presentation
“I realized that there were more ways to help out
and do service besides direct service. It is also
possible to do service through research,
advocacy and indirectly by having a video that
spreads awareness or knowledge.”
4. Semester Highlights
Minoria and Majoria
“This stimulation taught me that helping others
isn’t as easy as it looks. It seems so easy to just
show up somewhere full of ideas and resources
ready to make a change but if your target group
doesn’t want your help it is going to be very
difficult in the beginning.
I also learned that it’s really important to know the
history and background of those who you are
going to help specifically on the issue you are
trying to help.

“I liked the Children’s Clinic because it was not
only a place that made the medical treatment for
children more convenient but it is also a place
that does a lot of service for its patients. The clinic
has a toy assistance program every December
where families in need receive toys from the clinic
that they can give their children from Santa
Clause.”
Opened my eyes to complexity of disorders
12. Goals
As a result of what I’ve learned…
I plan to continue to volunteer at the Children’s
Clinic
I also want to use what I learned from the staff
and Doctor’s in my career and make sure that I
try to make the patient the main focus.
I hope to get more involved in providing service to
children who have complex disorders and a family
in need.
