The University of Southern California's Gould School of Law recently honored its students and alumni who contributed almost 2,000 hours of pro bono legal services to nonprofit organizations. The school provided 26 grants to first- and second-year students and 7 bar stipends to third-year students for their pro bono work. A student who helped with employees' rights issues was named Public Interest Student of the Year, while a 2006 graduate who directs advocacy for children with disabilities was named Public Interest Attorney of the Year.

2. Introduction
 A trial lawyer for the firm of Munger, Tolles & Olson LLP, Luis
Li handles white collar cases and business litigation, among
other legal matters. Luis Li has also served as an adjunct
professor at the University of Southern California's Gould
School of Law.
The school recently honored its students and alumni who
have provided pro bono legal services. Together, students
and alumni contributed some 1,900 hours to many nonprofit
organizations.
The president of the university's Public Interest Law
Foundation expressed pride in the accomplishments of the
students, stating the benefits of their work will extend beyond
their school hours.

3. Pro Bono Advocates
 Twenty-six grants were given to first- and second-
year law students, plus seven bar stipends for
third-year students.
One student, recognized as the public interest
student of the year for his work in employees'
rights, plans to focus on reform for persons that
have mental health issues.
Further, a 2006 graduate was named public
interest attorney of the year. He directs a team
that advocates for children with disabilities and
youth in the juvenile justice system.
