– As AAI's EHS&F Department, we strive to keep both
people and the environment safe in all respects. Our
goals are simple: we are committed to the safety and
physical well being of every employee, contractor and
visitor. Safety begins with the individual and the
choices they make. We are also committed to
reducing the environmental impacts of our actions
and products. By providing training, encouraging
information exchange and by process and product

• Safety Engineering: design new guidelines,
equipment, and procedures to preserve the
health and safety of industrial workers
• Industrial Hygiene: Science and art devoted to
the anticipation, recognition, evaluation,
prevention, and control of those environmental
factors or stresses arising in or from the
workplace which may cause sickness, impaired
health and well being, or significant discomfort
among workers or among citizens of the
community.

• Update 13 EHS policies and procedures to reflect
current practices and maintain compliance;
preparing for big external audit this Fall
– Suggest further procedure changes to improve
processes
• Focused mostly on the Hearing Conservation
Program

9. Conclusion
• EHS&F provides new career options that I would
have never known about
• I will take away:
– a big appreciation for all of the difficult behind the
scenes work that EHSF does
– a more well-rounded understanding of construction
as it pertains to safety, project management, etc.
• I learned it is important to be open to new things;
consider something out of your comfort zone
– Supplement your degree with safety engineering or
industrial health related courses/certifications
