2. 25 Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our
Lord! So then, on the one hand I myself with my
mind am serving the law of God, but on the other,
with my flesh the law of sin. 1 So now there is no
condemnation for those who belong to Christ
Jesus. 2 And because you belong to Him, the
power of the life-giving Spirit has freed you from
the power of sin that leads to death. 3 The law of
Moses was unable to save us because of the
weakness of our sinful nature. So God did what
the law could not do. He sent His own Son in a
body like the bodies we sinners have. And in that
body God declared an end to sin's control over us
by giving His Son as a sacrifice for our sins.
6. • Freed us from the power of sin that leads to
death
• His sacrifice ended sin’s control over us.
Editor's Notes
I find then the principle that evil is present in me, the one who wants to do good. 22 For I joyfully concur with the law of God in the inner man, 23 but I see a different law in the members of my body, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin which is in my members. 24 Wretched man that I am! Who will set me free from the body of this death? Remember last week we spoke about the alien invasion.
Rom 8:38-39 NASB For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, 39 nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Jesus did not come to lower the bar but to satisfy God’s high expectation of perfection.

Joh 8:8-11 NASB Again He stooped down and wrote on the ground. 9 When they heard it, they began to go out one by one, beginning with the older ones, and He was left alone, and the woman, where she was, in the center of the court. 10 Straightening up, Jesus said to her, "Woman, where are they? Did no one condemn you?" 11 She said, "No one, Lord." And Jesus said, "I do not condemn you, either. Go. From now on sin no more."]
