2. •When a catastrophic tornado devastated Moore, Oklahoma, in May 2013,
videographer Ric Burns followed the American Humane Association (AHA)
Red Star rescue team, which stayed in Moore for a month to rescue and
care for various animals affected by the EF-5 tornado. From this footage,
Burns produced a moving documentary of the rescue team’s work in the
wake of the disaster.
3. •The film takes viewers into the lives of rescue workers as they treat
animals at the shelter, which housed more than 220 animals during the
deployment, and enter the field in search of lost or wounded animals. In
addition, the documentary highlights more than 100 emotional family and
pet reunions, all of which were brought about by the Red Star rescue team.
4. •The documentary, titled Red Star Rescue in Oklahoma, debuted on
November 14, 2013, and is now available for viewing on the AHA website,
www.americanhumane.org.
