Big advocate for partnerships… In my previous life as a Business Librarian I relied heavily on partnerships to get the word out that we offered business resources and are a credible place to do business research. Example: - MISBTDC - Local multi-cultural community paper Current partnership we are pursuing… YMCA Suggestions from The Accidental Library Marketer … Partner w/grocery stores to hold storytimes at the store (or install a book drop or set up a branch) Some libraries hold Saturday morning storytimes at local grocery stores, the store provides the snacks and space and parents love it because they’re going there anyway. (Williamsburg Regional Library in VA and Ukrops grocery…www.wrl.org/feedmeastory) Hold events in nearby shopping mall to attract people that wouldn’t otherwise come to your library. Partner with a local small business… You need flowers for an event….local flower shop donates them in exchange for free publicity…you put up a sign noting “Flowers from Betty’s flower shop”
