as she suggests that language
learning is about
Westlife wisdom
“It’s more than words
And it’s more than what you say
It’s the things you do.”
This session explores the notion that learning a
language is about so much more than lists of
words and grammar. Drawing from the speaker’s
own observations and experiences as a lifelong
language learner as well as a teacher and mother,
we will consider the importance of context, culture,
communication, celebration and connections in
nurturing learners with an enduring passion for
language(s).
Words are important
So is something to stick them
together.

However, it takes more than
bricks and mortar to make a

What do you need?

Communication
"One of the hardest
things in life is having
words in your heart that
you can't utter."

‘If in doubt, make it up!’
How do we deal with mistakes?
Are we teaching the words
children want and/or need?
Not just
words.

LANGUAGES
There are so many languages; I can't count there's so much.
There's Spanish, Chinese, Japanese, African and Dutch.
There are so many languages
In this world
But very few of them have I been told.
There's Spanish and French
I'm sure,
And Dutch, Maori and many more.
There are so many languages, every one is unique.
There are so many languages about which we can all speak.
Be proud!
Show off your
‘super power!’
And share it!
