Bahrain has high levels of pollution at 57 ug/m3 on average due to energy production, dust, and industrial emissions. China has become the most polluted country in the world as it surpassed the US in CO2 emissions, with Beijing suffering 2,589 deaths and $328 million in losses alone in 2012 due to pollution. Indonesia's main source of contamination is the destruction of its forests and peatlands, with 40% deforestation reached in under 50 years and over 1 million hectares of forests lost between 2000 and 2006, emitting around 10 tons of CO2 per person annually.
