My Growth Is A High School Student
My Growth Essay Being a high school student in the tenth grade things a bit hectic all the tests and
book reports I have to do I always get caught up in my school work. Since my school life consists of
nothing but essays, keynotes, benchmarks and free response questions. Never anything less than
teachers pressing on about double spaces, sentence patterns and "Where to put the semi–colon." I
have never really noticed that they fail to teach or lecture me about unique writing skills until I
got into this class. "Strength and growth come only through continuous effort and struggle." That
quote was from Napoleon Hill and it means more than enough to me because I thrive everyday to
succeed in life and over the years and through this class I've learned, Growth and success are the
key things. I have learned that if you put effort into all you do that you'll be surprised with what
the outcome may be. That you can start now because you're never too old or too young to learn
how to succeed and have a successful life. When I first started ACA 115 I didn't know what to
expect, I was honestly really scared I was going to fail. I wasn't prepared for it because I signed
up for it my Freshman year and I had forgot about it. Now that I've settled in and put in some effort
I found that it was really easy, All I had to do was just talk about different learning styles and
studying methods that work for me. This class taught me how to not forget about my budget and
how to spend not

My Future Plans For High School
In a few months, I will make a huge decision that will help determine my future.
I have many plans for high school; such as what classes I will take and what clubs I will join. But
first I Have to take the entrance exams
I have been studying for the high school entrance exams since the beginning of summer. My mom
bought me three big texts books that will help with the High School Placement Test, Independent
School Entrance Exam, and Secondary School Admission Test. Recently I have started going to a
tutor that specializes in preparing students for the exams.
I am applying for schools. My first one is Charter School of Wilmington. It is my first choice
because it is two minutes from my house, so I would ride my bike. Also, it specializes in science
which is my favorite subject, they are attached to an art school, which I also like to do, they have
a good tennis team, and it is free. Archmere is my second choice. I like it there because it has a
large campus that has buildings that are spread out like a college. Tower Hill is my third choice
because it is next to my neighborhood. Also Tower Hill doesn't specialize in a specific subject it is
an all–around school with art, music, math, science, and many more subjects. Friends is my fourth
choice. I don't know much about Friends but i've heard it's a good school and will prepare for
college. Padua is my backup school in case I don't get accepted into any other school. I am
interested in Padu because I have only heard

A continuous debate that is currently receiving much attention is whether community service should
be a mandatory graduation requirement. Preparing students to effectively function in the real world
is an important aspect of our education system. Today more than ever, there is an emphasis on
having experience before beginning work. Most jobs are now focused on looking past your resume
to see what you have given back to the community. Nevertheless, it is important that schools focus on
preparing college students for the work force by mandating that they receive all of the necessary
exposure and experience. Numerous schools across the country have mandated that in order for their
students to graduate, they must complete a predetermined amount of community service. In
Maryland, high school students are required to complete a minimum of 75 hours of service in order
to graduate. However, this decision has resulted in a lot of mixed responses. Advocates of this
decision stress that mandatory community service opens doors for students, while the opponents
feel that it takes away valuable time from students who need to focus on their education. I believe that
gaining experience outside of school is critical for future success in life. To ensure that students are
prepared to transition smoothly from school to work, they need to be involved with the community
while in school in order to build the leadership skills that are necessary to succeed.

Private Schools vs. Public Schools Essay
Parents often wonder how to start off their children's education. Depending on ones religion or
beliefs a private or public school is a choice most parents face. Of course, each school offers it's own
pros and con's the choice is simple. Public schools offer the best well rounding of a student.
While being enrolled in a public school, students are faced with real outside world problems, are
with a different blend of students each year, and are also introduced to the latest technology faster.
While, a public school the money is offered to them by the state easier then having donations like a
private school. Ones child will most likely be with the same students throughout their educational
years. Classes aren't as big and varied like...show more content...
These classes allow students to pursue a career from the knowledge they have obtained. For
example, one might take a business class, which could lead to a career in the business industry. On
the other hand, in Private schools they only provide the necessary classes required by the state. In
some intermediate private schools, Home Economics and Shop classes Brady 2 aren't even offered.
Unlike Public schools these classes have been offered since fifth or sixth grade and up. The
uniforms in private schools ones child will be wearing would not allow the child to show character
in his self. Uniforms may make life easier in the long run, but think of how many different ways in
style people express themselves. There's skater, prep, sporty, gothic, hippie, or whatever is
convertible. In public schools, ones child has many different ways to fit in or dress how they feel is
convertible to them. The sports in private schools aren't that excelled as ones in public schools.
Like in private intermediate schools there are not a variety of sports. Public schools offer sports as
young as their primary schools. Sports in Public schools seem to be widely known and are more
funded. The money that Public schools receive go towards uniforms, equipment, and top of the line
coach's. Public schools show to the community that they will educate and well round you child better

High School : The First Essay
High School: The First Essay Everyone can remember the first time they had to write an essay for
high school. The first prompt I had to write about was three words that described myself that I
think my teacher should know about me. I thought it was going to be impossible to write an entire
essay describing myself. I spent a lot of time thinking about what I was going to write about, how it
was going to sound, whether or not my words fit the prompt, and a lot less time actually writing the
paper. I thought my paper was golden by the time I finally got done writing it. I had my mom
proofread it and she thought it was a pretty decent paper, and right then, I knew in my mind that
there was no way I wasn't getting an A. Well, until I got the grade back on my 'golden' paper. I
could go straight to what I ended up getting on my essay, but it's better to hear the entire story. To
start off, I was apart of this program in high school called Humanities, where I had two different
teachers for English and History, but they overlapped what they were teaching and we would often
have one project with several components for both classes. My English teacher, Mr. Bruns,
thought that since we were going to have him for the next four years of our lives, it would be
important for him to get to know more about us. Did I mention that we got this writing assignment
on our first day on high school? And that it was due the next day? There I was, on my first day of
high school,

End of the Year When I was in Elementary school I attended Rice Elementary in Santa Maria. I
heard when you enter Junior High that the people who hang out with you begin to shape who you
become later during the year. The thing I was concerned about Junior High was fitting in and
having real friends that won't take my friendship for granted. My first impressions of Tevis were
good. I had good vibes about the school and it looked like there was nice people all around.
Compared to last year I think this year was much better. There is a lot of fake people though not
going to lie. I think the most hardest class I had was my math like always. I have never been very
well at doing math. I still haven't been doing good that much this year but last

Essay about Higher Education
Higher education is optional, but to enter a respectable career, one must continue their education in
order to achieve his financial and/or personal goals. Teenagers who attend college use their extended
schooling to further obtain knowledge. The primary objective of higher education is to enhance
one's abilities for his future. A student can learn from school in numerous ways, but liberal education
is not a way to attract students into further and higher education. However, students can learn a lot
more through experiences that have affected their personal lives. I agree with author Mike Rose's
theory that education needs are reached to obtain a higher academic level by teaching students
information that can be related to their personal...show more content...
However, he has not thought about the students who want to attend college and quickly earn their
degree so they can start their careers.
I disagree with Bloom because he encourages the idea of taking extra irrelevant classes to achieve
the experience of education. It usually takes about four years to earn a bachelors degree. There are
many courses such as English, math, history, art, etc. that a student must go through before they get
to start on the classes that concentrate on their intended major. These basic courses are part of a
program called general education. After completing general education (which usually takes about
two years), the students can then begin to study for their degree. Colleges should abandon the law
of students having to take general education courses because the courses are irrelevant to their field
of study, unnecessary and a waste of time. Instead of taking the extra courses, students can simply
meet their needs of a degree in a shorter period of time. Also, Bloom not only that wants students to
take general education courses, he wants them to further their education by taking advanced
irrelevant courses. Therefore, in their future, they would have numerous opportunities for a better
career. Because if a job is not right for the student, he would have other choices to obtain a new job.
Rose feels students should not learn from the canon books style. Students have an easier time
learning when they relate to the

My High School Career Essay
Through out my high school career I never took my education seriously. For most of the four
years it was a big blur. I'm not quite sure if it was because of me or if I found myself blaming my
surroundings or teachers for my lack of focus and strive to learn. A failure can mean different things
to everyone else. Maybe there's just different types or categories of failures. These failures are meant
to teach us something, or motivate us to simply not make these mistakes again.
I remember going into my freshman year of high school nervous but excited because I thought I'd
learn so many new things. Next thing you know I found myself dreading school. Was I being
lazy? Was it my lack of motivation? I still can't grasp why exactly I lost that excitement or that
yearning to go to school. I was raised to have the idea that school was a place to learn not socialize.
But at the age of 14, what teenagers don't want to socialize and that's what got a hold of me. I spent
too much time worrying about other things that didn't involve my education.
Once I became a junior in high school I had been too far in the process of skipping school, not
paying attention, and putting all my focus on other things. I'm not saying I didn't learn things
while or whenever I did go to because I learned a lot of things but not enough. I didn't reach my
full potential. I think this was the year I made friends who weren't as great of influence. So, at this
point my lack of focus on my education was because of

How to Be A Good Student Essay
How to Be A Good Student
To become a success in life, we all need to learn to become a good student in every aspect of life.
Becoming a good student takes much work and self–discipline. There are many ways that a student
can stand out from the rest of the class. These good students are distinguished by their attitude,
intellectual skills, consciousness, and achievement.
Attitude is primarily a genuine desire to learn and the will to do hard academic work to achieve
understanding. It is also shown by how well you apply yourself even to subjects in which you have
little interest and how much you can achieve even when a teacher's style is not what you are used to.
Also attitude can change the way you percieveperceive things...show more content...
No one else can help you to attain a good attitude, you must decide and make it a goal to have a
good attitude in your student life. (CS)
Intellectual skills is (S–V Agr) another important aspect of becoming a good student. This skill
includes the ability to read and understand, intelligent use of resources, mathematical and logical
skills, efficient study habits, and the ability to communicate clearly and fluently. Intellectual skills
include time management, exam strategies, study strategies, and goal setting.
Consciousness, or awareness, is another helpful aspect of becoming a good student. The good
student must be aware of their (agr) surroundings and know what is going on in the world around
them. We must strive to relate what is happening around us to what we are learning. This should be
important to us because we should care about what is going on politically, academically, socially,
and spiritually. Being aware and paying attention is a good trait to continually learn and apply.
Achievement is demonstrated by successful application of understanding. This aspect includes using
correct and confident knowledge, effective communication, and continuanceing of education through
out your life. Achievement gives you a sense of accomplishment and meaning. To become a good
student, this must be a goal that you wish to accomplish.
Becoming a good student can be time consuming but well worth

Why I Want To Attend High School?
When I was in middle school, I truly didn't care for school. I just thought it was a mandatory part
of the everyday adolescent child. I came to school each day dreading the fact that I have to sit for
hours and listen to lectures that I thought to myself that I don't need in the future. It was the
beginning of the second semester in eighth grade, I was called in by my advisor. She told me that if
I don't improve my grades, I would have to repeat a grade, and I would have to wait two years until I
enter high school. This unnerving fact stopped me in my tracks, and I remember the cold feeling
that suddenly surged through my body. There was a possibility that I could fail and repeat a grade.
And so I thought to myself, is this really how I want to continue my life? Is...show more content...
I studied day and night, I took initiative by asking my teachers questions every time I was confused,
and I actually started to enjoy the lectures my teachers were giving me because I actually started to
listen to what they are saying. By the end of the school year, my grades were relatively impressive,
from almost failing, to practically succeeding.
I entered high school, and I made it a personal promise and goal to absolutely succeed and push
my limits. So far, I have succeeded with this goal. From the beginning of my freshman year, I
made sure I took the maximum amount of classes, and I finished each course with an A. I took
advantage of an internship program at my school, where I shadowed one of the science teachers at
my school. Throughout my Sophomore year, I continued this. I finished each course with an A,
except for Biology, for which I finished it with a B. I am now in my senior year, and I continue to be
successful with all of my classes.
I deeply care about my grades, and I go through a great extent to make sure I finish each course with
exemplary results, but I cannot not get good grades if I am not motivated by

My Journey As A High School Student Essay
At around this time four years back, I was just beginning my journey as a high school student. I
had decided that I wanted to tryout for my schools ' dance team. I had previously danced with a
studio by the name of Barton and Williams School of Dance, since the age of three, so I was
excited to learn that I could be on a team at my school. I received all of the information that was
necessary regarding the tryout dates, along with the paperwork that would be needed. We had to
learn two combinations, as well as the actual tryout dance, within three days. On the day of the
judging portion of the tryouts, everyone received a number. The judges would throw us into
groups of three or four by randomly choosing our numbers. We needed to perform the two
combinations individually and the actual routine as a group. Once all of the groups were done,
we had to wait for a good two or three hours for the results. Everyone had been so nervous. Finally,
the judges entered the room and posted the list of the numbers of the people who had made the
cut onto the wall. I was so excited to see my number on the list and to be able to say that I had
made it. In the very beginning of the season, my team attended the National Dance Alliance camp,
or NDA camp. This camp consists of nothing but dance for four days and three nights. It is located
in Maryland, at Towson University, so we had to rent a bus in order to get there. About a month
before camp, the team hired a guest choreographer to teach

Essay about Working Throughout High School
Students spend four years of their lives attending high school. Going through high school is
mandatory as it prepares them for college and strength to face "the real world." Having part–time
jobs has become the phenomenon among high school students and many students follow this trend
as well. Moreover, there are some pros and cons attached with it. Though it may seem like working
throughout high school is a bad idea, it could better prepare students for "the real world." Although
some people believe that the primary duty of a student is studying, I am of the opposite position. I
strongly support the idea that high school students should work throughout high school. This is
because they can earn money, become responsible and get...show more content...
They don't use their money in a productive way. Some students waste their money in drugs and
cigarettes. Another advantage is that students can become responsible. Jobs make young people
more responsible, and teach them the value of money and work. It makes them learn how to manage
their time wisely and make them more organized. It prepares them for the future life, but also some
less than desirable ones, like having too many responsibilities, spending most of their free time at
work and not with friends or family. Some people think that it spoils the student academic career.
They spend more time at work and they don't get time to do their homework and assignments.
Sometimes they have to skip classes to get enough sleep. They can't concentrate on study because of
the job. Those kinds of students will soon realize that the paycheck they receive at that point in time
may feel nice, but it is not something they can live off of.
Finally, students can gain experience by working throughout high school. This brings them
opportunity to learn how to budget their money, which is a vital part of being independent. Students
can gain more experiences and polish their skills while working. These skills can help them in
future in finding perfect job for them. For example, if you enjoy teaching, working part–time as a
tutor may help you improve your teaching skills and gain experiences.

My High School Experience Essay
When people start high school they're usually so excited. They can't wait to experience
everything that comes with being in high school, I mean who wouldn't? Everyone says that high
school is the best four years of your life. Now that I'm months away from graduating, I can't say
they were my best years but I can say they were my most educational years, of course I wouldn't
say that they weren't fun because they were. When I say educational, I mean I've learned so much
about myself and so much about life. I learned what the words family, love, betrayal, law and life
meant. All these events changed me, and I'm glad they happened because I wouldn't have learned all
these lessons. My personality hasn't changed; I'm still a carefree girl,...show more content...
My freshmen and sophomore year, I had my first real boyfriend. I was completely and totally in
love with this guy, he changed me in ways that I'm proud of and ways that I'm not proud of. I
revolved my world around him, which wasn't a good idea. After almost two years of dating, we
broke up and it literally shattered my world. During our relationship I became friends with his
friends and I even considered one of them my best friends, so when we broke up I didn't only
loose him, I lost all of them as well. It felt so awful to all of a sudden have everything, and then
just lose everything in a day. A couple of weeks later, I found out that my best friend was actually
dating my ex boyfriend. I couldn't believe that a person could betray someone like that, especially
after everything that she and I went through together. I'm not proud of the events that happened
after all of this, and I'm not proud of how I let them change me. The one thing that saved me was
my family; they saved me in ways I can't even explain. They gave me hope and a new life for me
that I am extremely grateful for. I've learned to be wiser when it comes to picking friends, and
choosing who to put my trust in. I also became a stronger person, I don't let people walk all over
me or I don't let people control my life anymore. The last event is the one that taught me the most
about how hard life is, and how life isn't always fair. My junior year was spent in Tijuana,

Essay On High School Teacher
Secondary School Teacher Nelson Mandela, a famous South–African president, once said,
"Education is the most powerful weapon you can use to change the world." Teachers can be the
people to inspire the next person to change the world. It is their job to bring out a different side of
students and help them become successful adults. A teacher can change the outlook of a student and
change the eventual outcome of the country. This career is important to society because the country
is dependent on the next generation, and without correct education the world could become very

All states require teachers to have a bachelor's degree("Secondary School Teacher" 491). Teachers
can work in different types of environments which include: hazards, travel, and location. Teachers
can work in classrooms, science labs, computer labs, or machine shops. These environments usually
lack necessities for educating students. Some schools fund field trips once or twice a year and the
teacher gets to go along to supervise the students on this trip("High School Teacher"). One hazards of
this job is the stress the teacher must endure to complete their job("High School Teachers"). A
teacher must also spend a lot of their own time completing schooling activities to make a class as

the job, and this could cause harm to the teacher physically and mentally("High School Teacher").
The job of a teacher is very vital to the control of the country in future years. The job is growing
and will add six percent by 2024. There are expected to be 55,000 more teaching jobs opening up

Teachers usually work school hours which can vary for different schools("High School Teachers").

Making sure high school seniors are ready for college is a top priority for parents today. The
motivation behind parents putting the extra effort to increase their child's chances of college
acceptance is to gain financial assistance to pay for college tuition. The best way to go about this is
for a high school senior to score high on the ACT college entrance exam, which is what schools look
at when deciding to award scholarships to students and is usually the determining factor for most
four–year universities when deciding which students receive acceptance. Colleges also look for
high school seniors who maintain cumulative grade point averages of 3.5 or better. According to

"We're not making the progress we need to be making," says Bob Wise who is President of the
Alliance for Excellent Education (Tomsho, The Wall Street Journal). He says the only way to
improve seniors' chances of college success is by improving the education standards of secondary
schools (Tomsho, The Wall Street Journal). This in turn would help improve students' academic and
learning ability in schools, but how can school systems be improved when we cannot afford to fund
the necessary improvements ourselves?
High school seniors' scores for admission to college are disconcerting – to say the least. Many
colleges are raising their academic standards for students to gain acceptance, and it is the job of the
high schools to prepare the students to meet those standards. If we are unable to improve our school
systems graduating seniors will not be able to gain university acceptance.
Federal funding would be the easiest method to improve schools across the country, but that would
take years to have a desirable effect on student success in high school. A simplified local way to
improve schools would be to combine several small high schools into one for an entire parish or
county. The thousands of dollars being spent on high schools in three different locations could be
saved and

My experience throughout English 101 Essay
My Experience throughout English 101
As writers, many students write to the expectations of their professors and not to their fullest
potential. Throughout English 101 I had been writing only to please my professor or to fill the basic
requirement to pass English. I always felt that my writing ability was never enough for my
professors throughout the previous years. They always wanted clear and concise essays, which for
some reason was unreachable by me. However, starting college and taking English 101 helped me
with my weaknesses and changed my technique of writing essays. My experience in English 101
taught me to write to my fullest potential and to write what I felt; rather then writing what was
required.

Also, by revising my essays I felt that I had the chance of writing with a broader sense.
Another weakness that I had coming into English 101 was my way of reading. I remember
having to read an essay or book 3 or 4 times before I could ever sit down and write about it. I was
looking and at the words all wrong. However, my professor introduced a technique of reading
critically. "A critical analysis, on the other hand, takes a viewpoint and attempts to its validity;"
(Trimble, 95) In Trimble's quote he is trying say that a critical analysis helps a reader understand
what the author is really trying to point out. This was the same approach that was taught to me by
my professor. This type of analysis helped me understand better what the author was trying to
convey and it also helped me explain it better in my essays.
Additionally, another weakness that I had when coming into English 101 was that I was a selfish
writer. Like Trimble said, "His natural tendency as a writer is to think primarily of himself– hence to
write primarily for himself." (Trimble, 4) I was a writer who only cared about impressing one
type of audience my professor and not writing to prove a point or expand my knowledge to several
other audiences. However, after writing several unsatisfying essays I had come to realize that my
style of writing was too narrow and boring. In this realization of writing I discovered that what
matters the most is pleasing your audience (many not one), and

to get ready. I asked his mom where Tony was and she proceeded to tell me that he was in the
bathroom getting ready. I tapped on the door and walked in. He was standing in front of the

we are about to graduate?" I replied," No, it really hasn't set in yet." Tony finished getting ready,
and then we left for the high school. The parking lot was filled with all the other seniors' cars.
Tony and I walked into the library ten minutes late like usual, and the principal had already started
giving instructions. I found my place in line and then was all ears. I couldn't help but look around
at all the others. Smiles were plastered on their faces as if they had heard a hilarious joke. Once the

As I had mentioned earlier, I am part of an anti–drugs and alcohol club. I am extended the
opportunity to speak to young students about the risks they could encounter. The feeling that those
students may look up to us is very meaningful, and I feel it is a unique experience. I am lucky to
have the chance to save a student's life through this club. Another community activity I enjoy doing
is related to performing, but at senior citizen homes. Some of my friends and I often just like to get
together with some music and go sing for them. This is a rewarding experience, as seeing the senior
citizens smile, and making their day better, is truly a heartwarming experience every time I have the

Milestone 3: Motivation For High School Students
With so many of life many failure attempts to succeed in life, we see those individuals that have
dropped out of school and feel that their life now seems meaningless. Their determination or will
power wasn't strong, and they had no one to push them forward to want to be a better person or
succeed in life. Some students today feel that all they have to do is just attend school just because
of their parents' wishes for them to receive a diploma. Some feel that classes are boring and
frustrating and a waste of time and energy. Why do students of today feel this way?...show more

Now how can you learn if you're not interested? This is when the teacher should consider providing
fun and games, praise, and love within the classrooms, making the classroom exciting and more
interesting.
Before entering the classrooms, teachers should sit and study each individual student and learn their
likes and dislikes. They should know what particular student need help in what particular subject.
Some students need more help in other subjects than other students. This is when teachers should
consider making their lesson plans focusing on subject matters that are current and relevant to high
school students, implementing cooperative learning strategies with their lesson plans while students
show off their talents. If students are demonstrating what they have learned in a skit, they tend to
learn more positively. When providing fun and game within the classrooms, the students are
excited about attending class because they already know something very eventful is going to take
place in that particular class. Not only are they learning they are having fun while doing so. They
are able to act out some of their personal talents, giving others a sense of who they really are, and
what some of their greater skills may be. As acknowledge in the article "How to Motivate High
School Students," "By allowing students the opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge in a way
that appeals to their strengths, you're giving them a chance

How To Write An Essay For High School Students

  • 1. My Growth Is A High School Student My Growth Essay Being a high school student in the tenth grade things a bit hectic all the tests and book reports I have to do I always get caught up in my school work. Since my school life consists of nothing but essays, keynotes, benchmarks and free response questions. Never anything less than teachers pressing on about double spaces, sentence patterns and "Where to put the semi–colon." I have never really noticed that they fail to teach or lecture me about unique writing skills until I got into this class. "Strength and growth come only through continuous effort and struggle." That quote was from Napoleon Hill and it means more than enough to me because I thrive everyday to succeed in life and over the years and through this class I've learned, Growth and success are the key things. I have learned that if you put effort into all you do that you'll be surprised with what the outcome may be. That you can start now because you're never too old or too young to learn how to succeed and have a successful life. When I first started ACA 115 I didn't know what to expect, I was honestly really scared I was going to fail. I wasn't prepared for it because I signed up for it my Freshman year and I had forgot about it. Now that I've settled in and put in some effort I found that it was really easy, All I had to do was just talk about different learning styles and studying methods that work for me. This class taught me how to not forget about my budget and how to spend not Get more content on HelpWriting.net

I have many plans for high school; such as what classes I will take and what clubs I will join. But first I Have to take the entrance exams I have been studying for the high school entrance exams since the beginning of summer. My mom bought me three big texts books that will help with the High School Placement Test, Independent School Entrance Exam, and Secondary School Admission Test. Recently I have started going to a tutor that specializes in preparing students for the exams. I am applying for schools. My first one is Charter School of Wilmington. It is my first choice because it is two minutes from my house, so I would ride my bike. Also, it specializes in science which is my favorite subject, they are attached to an art school, which I also like to do, they have a good tennis team, and it is free. Archmere is my second choice. I like it there because it has a large campus that has buildings that are spread out like a college. Tower Hill is my third choice because it is next to my neighborhood. Also Tower Hill doesn't specialize in a specific subject it is an all–around school with art, music, math, science, and many more subjects. Friends is my fourth choice. I don't know much about Friends but i've heard it's a good school and will prepare for college. Padua is my backup school in case I don't get accepted into any other school. I am interested in Padu because I have only heard Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. A continuous debate that is currently receiving much attention is whether community service should be a mandatory graduation requirement. Preparing students to effectively function in the real world is an important aspect of our education system. Today more than ever, there is an emphasis on having experience before beginning work. Most jobs are now focused on looking past your resume to see what you have given back to the community. Nevertheless, it is important that schools focus on preparing college students for the work force by mandating that they receive all of the necessary exposure and experience. Numerous schools across the country have mandated that in order for their students to graduate, they must complete a predetermined amount of community service. In Maryland, high school students are required to complete a minimum of 75 hours of service in order to graduate. However, this decision has resulted in a lot of mixed responses. Advocates of this decision stress that mandatory community service opens doors for students, while the opponents feel that it takes away valuable time from students who need to focus on their education. I believe that gaining experience outside of school is critical for future success in life. To ensure that students are prepared to transition smoothly from school to work, they need to be involved with the community while in school in order to build the leadership skills that are necessary to succeed. Depending on ones religion or beliefs a private or public school is a choice most parents face. Of course, each school offers it's own pros and con's the choice is simple. Public schools offer the best well rounding of a student. While being enrolled in a public school, students are faced with real outside world problems, are with a different blend of students each year, and are also introduced to the latest technology faster. These classes allow students to pursue a career from the knowledge they have obtained. For example, one might take a business class, which could lead to a career in the business industry. On the other hand, in Private schools they only provide the necessary classes required by the state. In some intermediate private schools, Home Economics and Shop classes Brady 2 aren't even offered. Unlike Public schools these classes have been offered since fifth or sixth grade and up. The uniforms in private schools ones child will be wearing would not allow the child to show character in his self. Uniforms may make life easier in the long run, but think of how many different ways in style people express themselves. There's skater, prep, sporty, gothic, hippie, or whatever is convertible. In public schools, ones child has many different ways to fit in or dress how they feel is convertible to them. The sports in private schools aren't that excelled as ones in public schools. Like in private intermediate schools there are not a variety of sports. Public schools offer sports as young as their primary schools. Sports in Public schools seem to be widely known and are more funded. The money that Public schools receive go towards uniforms, equipment, and top of the line coach's. • 5. High School : The First Essay High School: The First Essay Everyone can remember the first time they had to write an essay for high school. The first prompt I had to write about was three words that described myself that I think my teacher should know about me. I thought it was going to be impossible to write an entire essay describing myself. I spent a lot of time thinking about what I was going to write about, how it was going to sound, whether or not my words fit the prompt, and a lot less time actually writing the paper. I thought my paper was golden by the time I finally got done writing it. I had my mom proofread it and she thought it was a pretty decent paper, and right then, I knew in my mind that there was no way I wasn't getting an A. Well, until I got the grade back on my 'golden' paper. I could go straight to what I ended up getting on my essay, but it's better to hear the entire story. To start off, I was apart of this program in high school called Humanities, where I had two different teachers for English and History, but they overlapped what they were teaching and we would often have one project with several components for both classes. My English teacher, Mr. Bruns, thought that since we were going to have him for the next four years of our lives, it would be important for him to get to know more about us. Did I mention that we got this writing assignment on our first day on high school? And that it was due the next day? There I was, on my first day of high school, Get more content on HelpWriting.net

The thing I was concerned about Junior High was fitting in and having real friends that won't take my friendship for granted. My first impressions of Tevis were good. I had good vibes about the school and it looked like there was nice people all around. Compared to last year I think this year was much better. There is a lot of fake people though not going to lie. • 7. Essay about Higher Education Higher education is optional, but to enter a respectable career, one must continue their education in order to achieve his financial and/or personal goals. Teenagers who attend college use their extended schooling to further obtain knowledge. The primary objective of higher education is to enhance one's abilities for his future. A student can learn from school in numerous ways, but liberal education is not a way to attract students into further and higher education. However, students can learn a lot more through experiences that have affected their personal lives. I agree with author Mike Rose's theory that education needs are reached to obtain a higher academic level by teaching students information that can be related to their personal...show more content... However, he has not thought about the students who want to attend college and quickly earn their degree so they can start their careers. I disagree with Bloom because he encourages the idea of taking extra irrelevant classes to achieve the experience of education. It usually takes about four years to earn a bachelors degree. There are many courses such as English, math, history, art, etc. that a student must go through before they get to start on the classes that concentrate on their intended major. These basic courses are part of a program called general education. After completing general education (which usually takes about two years), the students can then begin to study for their degree. Colleges should abandon the law of students having to take general education courses because the courses are irrelevant to their field of study, unnecessary and a waste of time. Instead of taking the extra courses, students can simply meet their needs of a degree in a shorter period of time. Also, Bloom not only that wants students to take general education courses, he wants them to further their education by taking advanced irrelevant courses. Therefore, in their future, they would have numerous opportunities for a better career. Because if a job is not right for the student, he would have other choices to obtain a new job. Rose feels students should not learn from the canon books style. Students have an easier time learning when they relate to the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. My High School Career Essay Through out my high school career I never took my education seriously. For most of the four years it was a big blur. I'm not quite sure if it was because of me or if I found myself blaming my surroundings or teachers for my lack of focus and strive to learn. A failure can mean different things to everyone else. Maybe there's just different types or categories of failures. These failures are meant to teach us something, or motivate us to simply not make these mistakes again. I remember going into my freshman year of high school nervous but excited because I thought I'd learn so many new things. Next thing you know I found myself dreading school. Was I being lazy? Was it my lack of motivation? I still can't grasp why exactly I lost that excitement or that yearning to go to school. I was raised to have the idea that school was a place to learn not socialize. But at the age of 14, what teenagers don't want to socialize and that's what got a hold of me. I spent too much time worrying about other things that didn't involve my education. Once I became a junior in high school I had been too far in the process of skipping school, not paying attention, and putting all my focus on other things. I'm not saying I didn't learn things while or whenever I did go to because I learned a lot of things but not enough. I didn't reach my full potential. I think this was the year I made friends who weren't as great of influence. So, at this point my lack of focus on my education was because of Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. How to Be A Good Student Essay How to Be A Good Student To become a success in life, we all need to learn to become a good student in every aspect of life. Becoming a good student takes much work and self–discipline. There are many ways that a student can stand out from the rest of the class. These good students are distinguished by their attitude, intellectual skills, consciousness, and achievement. Attitude is primarily a genuine desire to learn and the will to do hard academic work to achieve understanding. It is also shown by how well you apply yourself even to subjects in which you have little interest and how much you can achieve even when a teacher's style is not what you are used to. No one else can help you to attain a good attitude, you must decide and make it a goal to have a good attitude in your student life. (CS) Intellectual skills is (S–V Agr) another important aspect of becoming a good student. This skill includes the ability to read and understand, intelligent use of resources, mathematical and logical skills, efficient study habits, and the ability to communicate clearly and fluently. Intellectual skills include time management, exam strategies, study strategies, and goal setting. Consciousness, or awareness, is another helpful aspect of becoming a good student. The good student must be aware of their (agr) surroundings and know what is going on in the world around them. We must strive to relate what is happening around us to what we are learning. This should be important to us because we should care about what is going on politically, academically, socially, and spiritually. Being aware and paying attention is a good trait to continually learn and apply. Achievement is demonstrated by successful application of understanding. This aspect includes using correct and confident knowledge, effective communication, and continuanceing of education through out your life. Achievement gives you a sense of accomplishment and meaning. To become a good student, this must be a goal that you wish to accomplish. • 10. Why I Want To Attend High School? When I was in middle school, I truly didn't care for school. I just thought it was a mandatory part of the everyday adolescent child. I came to school each day dreading the fact that I have to sit for hours and listen to lectures that I thought to myself that I don't need in the future. It was the beginning of the second semester in eighth grade, I was called in by my advisor. She told me that if I don't improve my grades, I would have to repeat a grade, and I would have to wait two years until I enter high school. This unnerving fact stopped me in my tracks, and I remember the cold feeling that suddenly surged through my body. There was a possibility that I could fail and repeat a grade. And so I thought to myself, is this really how I want to continue my life? Is...show more content... I studied day and night, I took initiative by asking my teachers questions every time I was confused, and I actually started to enjoy the lectures my teachers were giving me because I actually started to listen to what they are saying. By the end of the school year, my grades were relatively impressive, from almost failing, to practically succeeding. I entered high school, and I made it a personal promise and goal to absolutely succeed and push my limits. So far, I have succeeded with this goal. From the beginning of my freshman year, I made sure I took the maximum amount of classes, and I finished each course with an A. I took advantage of an internship program at my school, where I shadowed one of the science teachers at my school. Throughout my Sophomore year, I continued this. I finished each course with an A, except for Biology, for which I finished it with a B. I am now in my senior year, and I continue to be successful with all of my classes. • 11. My Journey As A High School Student Essay At around this time four years back, I was just beginning my journey as a high school student. I had decided that I wanted to tryout for my schools ' dance team. I had previously danced with a studio by the name of Barton and Williams School of Dance, since the age of three, so I was excited to learn that I could be on a team at my school. I received all of the information that was necessary regarding the tryout dates, along with the paperwork that would be needed. We had to learn two combinations, as well as the actual tryout dance, within three days. On the day of the judging portion of the tryouts, everyone received a number. The judges would throw us into groups of three or four by randomly choosing our numbers. We needed to perform the two combinations individually and the actual routine as a group. Once all of the groups were done, we had to wait for a good two or three hours for the results. Everyone had been so nervous. Finally, the judges entered the room and posted the list of the numbers of the people who had made the cut onto the wall. I was so excited to see my number on the list and to be able to say that I had made it. In the very beginning of the season, my team attended the National Dance Alliance camp, or NDA camp. This camp consists of nothing but dance for four days and three nights. It is located in Maryland, at Towson University, so we had to rent a bus in order to get there. About a month before camp, the team hired a guest choreographer to teach Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 12. Essay about Working Throughout High School Students spend four years of their lives attending high school. Going through high school is mandatory as it prepares them for college and strength to face "the real world." Having part–time jobs has become the phenomenon among high school students and many students follow this trend as well. Moreover, there are some pros and cons attached with it. Though it may seem like working throughout high school is a bad idea, it could better prepare students for "the real world." Although some people believe that the primary duty of a student is studying, I am of the opposite position. I strongly support the idea that high school students should work throughout high school. This is because they can earn money, become responsible and get...show more content... They don't use their money in a productive way. Some students waste their money in drugs and cigarettes. Another advantage is that students can become responsible. Jobs make young people more responsible, and teach them the value of money and work. It makes them learn how to manage their time wisely and make them more organized. It prepares them for the future life, but also some less than desirable ones, like having too many responsibilities, spending most of their free time at work and not with friends or family. Some people think that it spoils the student academic career. They spend more time at work and they don't get time to do their homework and assignments. Sometimes they have to skip classes to get enough sleep. They can't concentrate on study because of the job. • 13. My High School Experience Essay When people start high school they're usually so excited. They can't wait to experience everything that comes with being in high school, I mean who wouldn't? Everyone says that high school is the best four years of your life. Now that I'm months away from graduating, I can't say they were my best years but I can say they were my most educational years, of course I wouldn't say that they weren't fun because they were. When I say educational, I mean I've learned so much about myself and so much about life. I learned what the words family, love, betrayal, law and life meant. All these events changed me, and I'm glad they happened because I wouldn't have learned all these lessons. My personality hasn't changed; I'm still a carefree girl,...show more content... My freshmen and sophomore year, I had my first real boyfriend. I was completely and totally in love with this guy, he changed me in ways that I'm proud of and ways that I'm not proud of. I revolved my world around him, which wasn't a good idea. After almost two years of dating, we broke up and it literally shattered my world. During our relationship I became friends with his friends and I even considered one of them my best friends, so when we broke up I didn't only loose him, I lost all of them as well. It felt so awful to all of a sudden have everything, and then just lose everything in a day. A couple of weeks later, I found out that my best friend was actually dating my ex boyfriend. I couldn't believe that a person could betray someone like that, especially after everything that she and I went through together. I'm not proud of the events that happened after all of this, and I'm not proud of how I let them change me. The one thing that saved me was my family; they saved me in ways I can't even explain. They gave me hope and a new life for me that I am extremely grateful for. I've learned to be wiser when it comes to picking friends, and choosing who to put my trust in. I also became a stronger person, I don't let people walk all over me or I don't let people control my life anymore. The last event is the one that taught me the most about how hard life is, and how life isn't always fair. My junior year was spent in Tijuana, Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 14. Essay On High School Teacher Secondary School Teacher Nelson Mandela, a famous South–African president, once said, "Education is the most powerful weapon you can use to change the world." Teachers can be the people to inspire the next person to change the world. It is their job to bring out a different side of students and help them become successful adults. A teacher can change the outlook of a student and change the eventual outcome of the country. • 16. Making sure high school seniors are ready for college is a top priority for parents today. The motivation behind parents putting the extra effort to increase their child's chances of college acceptance is to gain financial assistance to pay for college tuition. The best way to go about this is for a high school senior to score high on the ACT college entrance exam, which is what schools look at when deciding to award scholarships to students and is usually the determining factor for most four–year universities when deciding which students receive acceptance. Colleges also look for high school seniors who maintain cumulative grade point averages of 3.5 or better. According to USA Today only 32 percent of seniors who graduated from...show more content... Students know how important the test affects the chance of college acceptance and unintentionally mess up and choke during the testing process. "We're not making the progress we need to be making," says Bob Wise who is President of the Alliance for Excellent Education (Tomsho, The Wall Street Journal). He says the only way to improve seniors' chances of college success is by improving the education standards of secondary schools (Tomsho, The Wall Street Journal). This in turn would help improve students' academic and learning ability in schools, but how can school systems be improved when we cannot afford to fund the necessary improvements ourselves? High school seniors' scores for admission to college are disconcerting – to say the least. Many colleges are raising their academic standards for students to gain acceptance, and it is the job of the high schools to prepare the students to meet those standards. If we are unable to improve our school systems graduating seniors will not be able to gain university acceptance. Federal funding would be the easiest method to improve schools across the country, but that would take years to have a desirable effect on student success in high school. A simplified local way to improve schools would be to combine several small high schools into one for an entire parish or county. The thousands of dollars being spent on high schools in three different locations could be saved and Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 17. My experience throughout English 101 Essay My Experience throughout English 101 As writers, many students write to the expectations of their professors and not to their fullest potential. Throughout English 101 I had been writing only to please my professor or to fill the basic requirement to pass English. I always felt that my writing ability was never enough for my professors throughout the previous years. They always wanted clear and concise essays, which for some reason was unreachable by me. However, starting college and taking English 101 helped me with my weaknesses and changed my technique of writing essays. My experience in English 101 taught me to write to my fullest potential and to write what I felt; rather then writing what was required. In the...show more content... Also, by revising my essays I felt that I had the chance of writing with a broader sense. Another weakness that I had coming into English 101 was my way of reading. I remember having to read an essay or book 3 or 4 times before I could ever sit down and write about it. I was looking and at the words all wrong. However, my professor introduced a technique of reading critically. "A critical analysis, on the other hand, takes a viewpoint and attempts to its validity;" (Trimble, 95) In Trimble's quote he is trying say that a critical analysis helps a reader understand what the author is really trying to point out. This was the same approach that was taught to me by my professor. This type of analysis helped me understand better what the author was trying to convey and it also helped me explain it better in my essays. Additionally, another weakness that I had when coming into English 101 was that I was a selfish writer. Like Trimble said, "His natural tendency as a writer is to think primarily of himself– hence to write primarily for himself." (Trimble, 4) I was a writer who only cared about impressing one type of audience my professor and not writing to prove a point or expand my knowledge to several other audiences. However, after writing several unsatisfying essays I had come to realize that my style of writing was too narrow and boring. In this realization of writing I discovered that what matters the most is pleasing your audience (many not one), and Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Once I was finished, I gathered up my cap and gown and my car keys and headed out the door. All the graduates had to meet in the high school library an hour before the ceremonies started, and I promised one of my best friends Tony that we would go together. I knocked on his back door and let myself in like I always do. All of his family members were running throughout the house trying to get ready. I asked his mom where Tony was and she proceeded to tell me that he was in the bathroom getting ready. I tapped on the door and walked in. He was standing in front of the mirror with his cap and gown on. He look me straight in the eyes and said," Can you believe that we are about to graduate?" I replied," No, it really hasn't set in yet." Tony finished getting ready, and then we left for the high school. The parking lot was filled with all the other seniors' cars. Tony and I walked into the library ten minutes late like usual, and the principal had already started giving instructions. I found my place in line and then was all ears. I couldn't help but look around at all the others. Smiles were plastered on their faces as if they had heard a hilarious joke. Once the principal concluded his speech, the whole senior class paraded down the hallway to the commons in two uniform lines stopping just outside the gymnasium doors. We could hear the band warming up and playing songs. All the people that were standing around me were bubbling Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 19. Sample Of Admission Essay For High School My whole life I have been invested in doing what I love, focusing on my true passions, as well as finding new ones. I have been very involved in my high school, and have been lucky enough to be a part of multiple clubs and activities. Without these activities, my high school experience and life would be a lot different. I have been an active drama club member, a part of 'Bottlecappers,' a club advocating anti–drug, alcohol, and bullying to younger students in my district, and many other community service opportunities. I am lucky to have the opportunity to be in these activities, as they have shaped me to be the young adult I am today. Before I even entered high school, I obtained a love of theater and the performing arts. I have been singing and acting since I was nine, as well as on and off dancing since three. Taking classes at a local theater really introduced me to this interest of mine. When I entered high school, an injury kept me from doing shows.
