siblings and I have. My mother finished high school in the Philippines, then moved to Guam for
college. After completing her first year, she placed her education on hold and worked to support her
family in the Philippines. She bounced between jobs for two years, then met my father. At twenty
years old, she withdrew herself from the workforce to do what most women consider to be the most
important job: being a mother.
