stories for such publications as the East Valley Tribune, AZ Business, Venues Today,
Knowledge@W. P. Carey, Capitol Times, The Goldwater Institute and The New York

August 2004 to present: Adjunct instructor at Cronkite School. I teach beginning
news writing.
November 2002 to August 2007: Business editor, Tribune Newspapers. Edited daily
business section and wrote an opinion column for 95,000-circulation daily based in Mesa.
Redesigned stock pages and designed a weekly, real estate page. Worked with web site

staffers in producing an Associated Press Sports Editors national award-winning sports
section for 49,000-circulation paper in Palm Springs, Calif. Served as the lead reporter

August 1993 to January 1998: Assistant sports editor, The Press-Enterprise.
Supervised eight full-time writers covering pro and major colleges, and four full-timers
and seven part-timers covering small colleges, minor-league baseball and high schools.
Helped coordinate graphics and photos for the section for 170,000 circulation daily in
Riverside, Calif.
May 1990 to August 1993: Copy editor, The Press-Enterprise. Served on the paper’s
style committee.
October 1987 to May 1990: Assistant sports editor, The Arizona Daily Star. In
charge of the copy desk and, for the final year, the high school coverage for a 90,000-
circulation daily in Tucson, Ariz.

timer and worked my way to a full-time position, helping putting out five weekly, zoned
