1. Location
Location one
- Pit Tip , Kirkby in Ashfield
we have chosen this as the first location as it has
everything that we want for this first scene; the
deserted area, trees for cover and shelter, bushes
so we can shot from behind them in the killers point
of view, and twig and leaves on the floor so we can
create the snapping of a twig effect that catches
the attention of the characters. The location also
has an abandoned train line that is not in use so we
can use is as a prop in the opening scene. This is
better than out other idea s the train line in that
location was still in use and would be unsafe to film
on. This location is a short 5 minute walk from the
location where all our equipment is held so it is the
perfect location to get to, also the route to get
there is not very complicated.
2. Location
Location two
-characters house, Kirkby in Ashfield
this is the second location that we will be using
for the film on film scene. We will be using this
house at it is one of the actors house so it will be
easy to get permission from the parents to film
there. This house is also good because the
characters can relate to the objects and their
surroundings so it will fit in with there personalities
during the opening scene. We will also place
other items in the scene specifically to fit in with
the storyline and to also show their social class
which is important in films. This scene needs to
have all the right props and Mise en scene as
we cannot show the social class in the other
scene after the apocalypse has occurred.
3. Mise en scene & props
Location one
The first location is pit tip in Kirkby and pretty much has all
the Mise on scene that we need like the trees, bushes, train
lines, streams, and is a deserted area. We wanted the
opening scene to be outside to exaggerate the how
deserted the place is and it will be easier to film with no one
around too. We will be using other props like berries or some
kind of food to lure the character in as they have no energy
and will grab at any food they can find, we will also be using
a backpack as a prop to carry their supply's in and also we
will be using binoculars for the killer as he will be stalking and
spying on them through the bushes. Twigs and leaves will
also be a prop as it will be used as a prop to alert the
characters this is the enigma code , then the killer will
emerge from the bushes and harm one of the characters,
this will be the action code. The scene will be shot in daylight
so that when we film through the trees and bushes it will add
some darkness to the shots and will show that the characters
are in danger.
4. Costume
We will be planning the costume of the opening scene very
specifically and we want to create the right representation that
will fit in with the plot and the genre of our opening scene. For out
preliminary task we did not plan our clothing and I think that
affected how the task looked afterwards. The genre is post
apocalyptic and after a lot of research we have decided what
both character will be wearing. Both character will be wearing
dark clothing with lots of layers to keep war, as they are living on
the road. We want to show clearly that they are not living in luxury
and that some kind of apocalypse has occurred and has
affected them. The woman will not wear makeup and both of
there hair will be messy and unclean. We will also use makeup
such as face paint or eyeshadow in dark colours like black, blue
and purple to show how dirty they and how bruised they are. We
were mostly inspired by the costumes of the book of Eli, so they will
be wearing dark clothing, with tones of black, grey, brown and
greens. They will also be wearing strong and sturdy boots that will
be comfy for them when walking for miles.
