Attribution Theory, attempts to explain causes of behavior. It attempts to explain the causes of people 's behavior and attributing or explaining reasons
as to why people behave the way they do Heider(1958). The theory was developed by Fritz Heider..According to Heider (1958) a person can make two
attributions; internal attribution, the inference that a person is behaving in a certain way because of something about the person, such as attitude,
character or personality and external attribution, the inference that a person is behaving a certain way because of something about the situation he or
she is in.
Weiner (1974) focused hisattribution theory on achievement he identified ability, effort, task difficulty, and luck as the most important factors affecting
attributions for achievement. The assumptions of the theory is that there is not a direct relationship between our behavior and its causes. There can be a
variety of behaviors that are perceived resulting from a variety of causes.
Since brand loyalty constitute of attitudes and behavior to settle on a brand. Attribution theory looks into illustrating the driving force behind decision
making. For a brand loyalist to be, multiple mental deductions must be undertaken to get to the most sequentially logical conclusion based on situation
at hand.

The Covariation Model, By Harold H. Kelley
The Covariation model, created by Harold H. Kelley, has been a crucial contribution to the study of social psychology. The covariation model is one of
two attribution theories. It states that there are internal and external causes for every occurring event that must be distinguished. There are three
categories to the covariation model: consensus, consistency, and distinctiveness. Consensus is whether or not other people have acted in the same way
as the person in question. Consistency is based on whether or not the person has acted like this in the past. Distinctiveness is the level of which this
same person acted in the same manner when placed in diverse situations. Depending on these levels of consensus, consistency, and distinctiveness, the
attribution to internal or external causes is determined. These situations are as follows: 1) low consensus, high consistency, and low distinctiveness
results in internal attribution, 2) high consensus, high consistency, and high distinctiveness results in external attribution. Internal attribution shows
that the events that occurred happened because of our own internal reasons, which is also known as disposition attribution. Whereas external attribution

beginning the process of helping the athlete/patient with a specific situation. The SPORT model provides a goal–setting strategy that can prove to be
useful when measuring the patients progress towards achieving a goal/s that were set early on in this process. These objective measures can prove to
motivate the athlete/patient as they are able to witness improvement in themselves. Or it can provide valuable feedback that may be indicative of the

In Attribution theory the limitation is that an individual's explanation of action might be biased. Every individual's attributions are also meaningfully
determined by their motivational and emotional drives. An individual might blame other persons to avoid individual accusation that is a very real

model. Heider, the father of the attribution theory, believed that all human beings are amateur scientists, persistently piecing together facts and
information in an effort to grasp a situation and the motivations behind it. Typically, one will assume behavior to be a result of internal personal
factors such as attitude, feelings, and character traits. A teacher yelling at her student will be criticized for having a bad temper. On the flip side,

Kelley's Covariation Model Kelley's (1967) covariation model is the best known attribution theory. It is an attribution theory in which people make
casual inferences to explain why other people and ourselves behave in a certain way. It is concerned with both social perception and self–perception
(Kelley, 1973). He developed a logical model for judging whether a particular action should be attributed to some characteristic (internal) of the person
or the environment (external). The term covariation simply means that a person has information from multiple observations, at different times and

Incarceration disparity has exhibited a plethora of collateral effects which recent research indicates has led to an alarming increase in broken homes
and disenfranchised communities (Dyer, 2005). These collateral effects are directly experienced by offenders, their families, and their children. These
effects are persistent and pervasive and can include personal, social, financial, emotional, psychological, and physical concerns such as stigma, family
disruption, financial burden and negative psychological impact on children (Crime Council on Justice, 2006). Social and economic structures of
communities are affected as well, especially in areas where many residents are continually entering and exiting the criminal justice system.
Concentrated crime and imprisonment, within communities, diminishes human capital (individual skills, knowledge), physical capital (infrastructures,
material improvements), and social capital (social good embodied in relations) (Watts & Nightingale, 1996; Hagan & Dinovitzer, 1999; Clear, Rose,
Waring & Scully, 2003). The aforementioned effects of imprisonment signal crisis and are the harbingers of a crippled community; which adds another

Psychologist Fritz Heider was the first person to develop attribution theory in the book The Psychology of Interpersonal Relations (1958). Heider
proposed that what people perceived about what they saw decided how they would act, even if their beliefs about what they perceived were wrong.
Heider's theory of attribution was further worked on by psychologist Bernard Weiner and some of his friends in the 1970s and 1980s, and this new tool
has been used primarily in current attribution research. Final inputs to the attribution theory were provided by psychologist Harold Kelley, worked on
other factors like consistency, distinctiveness, and consensus and its effects on individuals to validate their perceptions.
