The complex interactions of race, gender, geography, and professional status shape political institutions and the quality of democratic deliberations, as
Wendy G. Smooth demonstrates in this study of the politics of intersectionality. Looking specifically at African American women in state legislatures,

Jim Toth
Most people wouldn't recognize Jim Toth, he was complete strangers to general people until he got married to gorgeous Hollywood actress Resse
Witherspoon. He is an agent working for Creative Artists Agency in L.A., he has hit the town with artist like Matthew McConaughey and other many

Relationship and Married Life
Reflecting on the personal life of Toth, he had an affair with an American model, Courtney Robertson. The duo had dated for few months and was
separated. After few months backs there were rumors hovering around that Reese and Toth started dating way back in the stone age of 2010.

How The Stereotypes Associated With My Identity Affect Me
I am an African American male who loves to dance, play sports, and rap. I fit into a multitude of stereotypes of an African American male except I
have never committed a crime or ever joined a gang. Stereotypes can be true and not necessarily a bad thing; I think it is great I am good at
basketball and dancing. However, stereotypes can also be very harmful in our conception of other people. One might see me walking down the street
at night and assume I am a thug instead of an Honors student at Loyola Marymount University. I do not want to delve into the topic of how the
stereotypes associated with my identity affect me; rather, I would like to analyze the negative effect of the stereotype of the supposedly happy ideal
luxurious woman in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The cultural stereotypes around gender are perceived as "inevitable truths rather than stereotypes to be challenged [that] undermine calls for equality
between men and women" (Donovan 17). This ignorance causes people to think they only need to look at the surface level when judging a person's
value as it relates to gender. What happens when someone's value is reduced to only the stereotype they embody and the clothes they wear? The
seemingly happy stereotype of the luxurious woman does just that. The stereotype of the luxurious woman portrays a woman who is extremely
wealthy, adorned with jewelry and designer clothing. At first glance, a woman might aspire to live that extravagant lifestyle. The market plays into
feeding this stereotype by marketing luxury items "predominantly to women, and women who can afford them invariably become luxury items
themselves" (Chocano 110). Almost all the high–end luxury brands like Prada and Tiffany and Co. are regarded as women's brands that also offer a
small selection of men's items. The targeting of woman by these brands cause the woman to objectified as only a means to sell their product. The
woman wearing all of the clothing becomes a luxury item herself due to how rare it is for her to gain the financial freedom buy the clothes and merely

Importance Of Social Roles In Education
Because of my passion for healthcare, I have numerous social roles relating to the field. Most importantly, I have a social role of being a pre–medical
undergraduate student at Loyola University Chicago, a university which is known for their pre–professional health care programs. As a student, I have
a social script of educating myself in order to obtain a beneficial career in the future. Through the help of the professors, teacher's assistants,
classmates, and tutoring sessions that are present at Loyola, I am able to fulfill my social script of providing myself a sturdy foundation into the
medical field. Through these "trainings," I know how to work hard in order to achieve success in my prerequisite classes for medical school. By the
social scripts presented to me by the Loyola staff, I make sure that my education is my top priority. Moreover, I have extracurricular activities that help
to strengthen my foundation in the healthcare field. This past summer, I volunteered at Northwest Community Hospital where I helped out at the nurses'
station of the rehabilitation unit by answering call lights and doctors calls and by paging the appropriate nurses and PCTs (patient care technicians).
Furthermore, I volunteered at the Visitor's Entrance front desk where I was able to sign patients in and out, direct them towards the rooms of their
loved ones, deliver flowers and other packages, and help discharge the patients.
During the school year, I volunteer at Shirley Ryan Ability

Josh Di Nieri Prof. Rubino MGT 360 November 27, 2017 Personal Development Plan I am a pretty well rounded individual although not perfect
by any means. Throughout my life, I have always tried my best to be friendly to everyone and optimistic in all situations. I don't think anyone
would ever describe me as a critical or aggressive person. I've always been willing to give advice and be encouraging to anyone that I felt needed it. I
believe that I am a fairly conscientious person in that I have always been careful and diligent when it comes to work and other life choices. I've
always been organized and usually don't act on pure impulse alone. I've never been described as traditional or conventional. I've always been open to
new experiences and relish every opportunity that can make me a more well–rounded person. People would also describe me as a fairly intelligent
individual with a vivid imagination. My weaknesses, however, would have to include my ability to develop people and team process. I've always
been encouraging, but I can improve upon my ability to develop people by providing feedback to individuals on their performances and recognizing
individual contributions when I am part of a team. Through this course, I learned that my personality assessment of ENFJ fit me quite well. It

Thinking Ethically: A Framework for Moral Decision Making
Ethical Dilemmas Prompt 1: Often when people disagree, it comes from ideological differences where one person's perception of a situation is in
conflict with the views of the person with whom they are arguing. In a regular argument, two factions or more will try to persuade the other person
or persons that their perception is the correct one. For example, if a person prefers one political candidate over another, their reasons may be based
upon the candidate's opinions correlating with their own. Conflicts of need can appear as well, such as a person needing to arrive at a destination by a
certain time while the needs of another person impede the likelihood of that deadline being met. Additionally, conflict of expectation can be found
when one person's definition of an idea such as quiet or cleanliness is countered with the perception of another. In each of these cases, there is conflict
and argument, but not necessarily ethical considerations. Within any argument, sides will be vying for agreement and this can put a person into
conflict when they find themselves between the two opposing sides. This situation is even more disturbing when the conflicting perspectives are within
a single individual. Under these circumstances, an ethical dilemma presents itself. The mind has to choose between two potential options each with
their own set of benefits and deficits (Loyola Marymount University 2009). In order for a situation to be an ethical dilemma, there must be real

Laptops : The Way Of The Future?
Laptops In The Classroom: The Way Of The Future? Introduction:
In the twenty–first century, when almost everyone has a laptop or smartphone, many different perspectives have arisen regarding the use of
technology, specifically laptops, in college classrooms. Some people are completely in favor of allowing the use of laptops in the classroom. These
people are part of Generation Y, meaning they are young, often in their teenage years or twenties. Others think laptops are too distracting and want
them banned. These people tend to be older, and are members of the baby–boomer generation. However, members of Generation X support a solution
that lies in the middle: allow laptops in the classroom, but have specific rules on their use put in place. Some schools tend to have stricter rules than
others. For example, Bentley College in Massachusetts has a system that lets professors turn off internet access in their classrooms. In contrast,
Columbia's business school and Loyola Marymount University's law school take a more relaxed approach. They think that since college students are
adults, they should be able to control themselves and use laptops responsibly. Surfing the web during lectures will not lead to a passing grade, and
professors at Columbia and Loyola Marymount think students are old enough to realize that.

Loyola Marymount University Personal Statement
Loyola Marymount University has been on my list of colleges ever since I stepped foot onto the campus in 2009. Five years later and my
admiration of the school has still not reduced. Personally, I believe that without education, a person doesn't have the ability to become prosperous;
education is the key to success. Considering this, a person also has to love what they're doing every day or else they will never be happy. The
combination of all these factors leads a person to live their life to the fullest with prosperity, wealth and pleasure. All of these key components are
evident in LMU, thus the reason why I am so passionate about attending the campus and adopting the lifestyle of a lion. In addition to the beautiful
campus that allows one to imagine they are on a resort instead of a school as well as the intimate student to faculty ratio that gives students the direct
attention they need, LMU has a fantastic undergraduate business program that excites me and will prepare me for my future as a possible entrepreneur

Explore Oc Position Report
Interest: Why are you interested in serving as an EXPLORE OC? What do you believe to be the most important aspects of this position?
I am interested in serving as an EXPLORE OC because I would like the opportunity to meet, befriend, and serve as a resource for a small group of
incoming freshman. My EXPLORE OCs were wonderful about this. They put their all into the position and made sure that we had a fun and
memorable time through humorous ice–breakers, High School Musical karaoke sessions on the bus, awkward selfie postings on Group Me, and
countless inside jokes. This, along with being welcoming, open–minded, and approachable are important aspects of this position. Additionally, I
appreciate how one of my OCs in particular continued to check in with us from time to time, which I believe to be important to this position as well.
As a past participant, I realize how much EXPLORE impacted my college experience. One month ago, if you had asked me what my plans for spring

Odd Couples By Anna Muraco
In Odd Couples, Anna Muraco interviews intersectional friendships between gay men and straight women as well as straight men and lesbian women.
The author is an Assistant Professor of Sociology at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles. Muraco is careful to incorporate gender, sexual
preferences, and age each time she mentions interviewees. Most of the intersectional friendships involve a gay man and straight woman; however, she
makes a great effort to interview friendships between a straight man and lesbian woman, though sometimes these friendships may be difficult to find.
The author aims to challenge two large assumptions. The first assumption she confronts is that men and women are fundamentally different. The
second assumption is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She then identifies the importance of friendships in general and how these bonds are formed. There is discussion of same–sex, heterosexual friendships
and same–sex, same orientation friendships. These topics were the precursor of delving into the discussion of intersectional friendships and how
Muraco conducted this study. According to the author, intersectional friendships challenge a variety of social norms. Previous research shows that
straight people who are in contact with gay men and lesbians have a favorable attitude towards them; this favorable attitude is meant as in acceptance,
not tolerance. Furthermore, most of the dyad friendships interviewed were very close friends, if not best friends. In multiple cases, the gay man was
often incorporated into the straight woman's family. The straight women offer to be a surrogate mother before they themselves are married and trying
for children of her own. On the contrary, Muraco further explains the stereotype that all gay couples want children. Another way that these friendships
are beneficial to the individual is that they provide great financial support for each other, which is usually a familial function. The media tends to depict
these intersectional friendships generally as gay men and straight women that are the best of friends who go shopping and clubbing together. Though
this gender norm was common within the study, there are still other friendships that are regularly overlooked. The

The 2016–2017 Chino Hills Basketball season was clearly one for the books. The team was full of great players, and they definitely have a bright
future ahead of them. Although the end of the season didn't result in a CIF win the way last year did, the Huskies still had a great season. There
were many great memories and great games that will always be remembered. Chino Hills' season ended Tuesday, March 14 in the second round of
State CIF against Bishop Montgomery. The Huskies finished with a very impressive 30–3 record. There were some great moments, such as when
sophomore commit to UCLA, LaMelo Ball, scored 92 points in one game! Not only did he score 92 points, LaMelo dedicated the game to a Husky
student, Lexi Anderson. He was able to make

2011). At the same time, companies are seeking to better understand the extent to which social media can and should play a role in customer
engagement (Parent, Plangger, and Bal 2011).
Our knowledge regarding social media–driven brand–consumer engagement and what constitutes effective social media strategy is only now
developing. Although both industry and academic research has begun to examine the role of social media within firm–customer interactions, there is a
continued need for empirical investigation of usage characteristics and behaviors with respect to social media and online brand engagement,
particularly among younger consumers. Accordingly, our study investigates the role of social media among younger consumers as they actively engage
online with brands spanning the product, service, and media sectors. We administered a written diary to fifty–eight individuals over a one–week period
in late Fall 2011. Diary data captured background information on social media usage and recorded 406 discrete company–respondent interactions
across two primary social media platforms–Facebook and Twitter–as well as email. Email interactions were included in the study because this form of
contact is part of the electronic ecosystem connecting consumers and businesses and is complementary to social media usage.
Our study makes two contributions to the growing body of social media marketing research. First, we uncover several themes characterizing online

Reflection On Thomas Fellow And Reentko Concert
I saw Thomas Fellow and Reentko Dirks at Loyola Marymount University on March 25th. One thing that I learned from the concert was that guitar is
really something that brings people together because there were quite a lot of people in attendance. I observed that both guitarists never really looked
at their music sheets when they played. They seem to have memorized the pieces that they were playing and were playing off muscle memory, which
is incredible. My impression of the concert was that it was excellent. I really enjoyed it because there were a lot of different songs that were played

Fans of a celebrity or athlete jump for joy at any opportunity to support the people they idolize. There is no better example of this love than the recent
scandal of Antoine Turner. Turner is a college student who has just signed with Boise State University's football team. Turner lost one parent during
childhood, and was estranged from the other. He lived in California with his uncle for some time, but certain state laws prevented him from living

In response to the public backlash towards a popular pastime, the United States President Theodore Roosevelt, himself a big fan of football, created
the NCAA from thirteen representatives to prevent the game from being abolished. Thus, in 1906 the NCAA was founded to protect young athletes
from the dangerous collegiate athletes of the time. Many argue that college athletes should not be paid because attending America's top universities
on scholarship is payment enough. People wonder where the money to pay these athletes is going to come from. Many schools do not have the
money in their budgets to operate without student fees and investors, so finding the money to pay hundred or thousands of athletes would throw
many budgets out of balance. Students question the equality of a student to a student athlete. Student athletes even question how equal individual
sports are. Kristi Dosh of SportsMoney magazine questions, "How much do you pay players? Is it one set amount for every athlete no matter what
the sport or the school in order to keep things fair?" (Dosh 2). There are nearly 460,000 college athletes active today, and it would be very difficult for
the NCAA to decide how to pay a Division III cross–country runner versus a Division I football star.

Saint Ignatius Of Loyola Personal Writings
The book, Saint Ignatius of Loyola Personal Writings, was translated by Joseph A. Munitiz and Philip Endean and first published in 1996. This
book contains many aspects of St. Ignatius' life, from his reminiscences to his spiritual exercises. Inigo Lopez de Loyola was born in 1491 in Spain,
the youngest of 13 children. Inigo became a soldier at the age of 18 and began to refer to himself at Ignatius. Ignatius becomes a man obsessed with
his image and a life of luxury until his conversion into a devout catholic. Saint Ignatius of Loyola Personal Writings tells the story of St. Ignatius' early
life obsessed with his image, and his transformation into his ultimate obsession with living a life dedicated to Christ, that I believe may have interfered
with his growing relationship with God.
St. Ignatius lived his life in vain. He was too concerned with his outward appearance, and his reputation among others. In battle, his legs were badly
injured. Even through the excruciating pain, he made an effort to show no outer sign of discomfort. When his legs had healed, one leg was left with
an unsightly misconfiguration from the healing of the bones. He underwent another, even more, painful surgery to fix his outer appearance. During his
long recovery, St. Ignatius read about the life of Christ and the saints. As he learned more about the holy lives of the saints, St. Ignatius was converted
and was determined to live a life the way Christ and the saints did.
After St. Ignatius was

Intellectual Studies : Jesuit Identity And Cura Personalis
Jesuit Identity and Cura Personalis While attending a Jesuit University, students will be faced with many different challenges throughout their
intellectual studies. Students will be given the opportunity to be able to develop the Jesuit principles of cura personalis, Magis, and the Unity of
Heart, Mind and Soul; they will be able to do this through the core of mission, vision, and values. Cura personalis is rooted from the ancient Latin
phrase, "caring for the person", but by far has more meaning than one could ever possibly think. Magis takes the part of being "more" and simply
striving for nothing less than greatness. The Unity of Heart, Mind, and Soul develops the whole person, by integrating all aspects of our individual
lives. Additionally, the only effect that could possible hinder the Jesuit principles which include the body, mind, and soul of any individual who
obtains it, would be social media. Social media has truly changed the human perception of who we should be, rather than who we truly are due to the
culture it upholds. Individuals tend to hide who they are, due to weakness and vulnerabilities without realization. The Jesuit values encourages the
individual to have courage and to overcome the difficulties in life. This in turn, allows a person to grow and develop. Nonetheless, social media poses
a challenge to individuals in that it shapes the way a person learns, teaches, and views the world.
Society has set many standards higher than ever before, and it

Living Learning Communities
Overall consensus on living–learning communities is resoundingly positive from both the students who take part in them and the colleges that
administer these programs. In terms of the past research, LLCs benefit students in a variety of ways. As described by multiple students in a conducted

This creation of a specific type of environment that feels welcoming to the students helps ease the transition from the experiences of either a community

Stereotyping And The Health Care System
Stereotyping, an unfairly belief that all people or things with a particular characteristic are the same. (Merrriam–Webster dictionary) In this paper I will
explore stereotyping, give examples including personal ones, how it affects individuals and their families, and how it affects the care they receive
by the health care system. Whether people want to admit it everyone has stereotyped at one point in their life. I know I am guilty of it. This can
happen without the person even knowing that they are doing it. How a person is raised and their families beliefs growing up can impact their beliefs.
So one of the important questions to answer is does being stereotyped have a lasting impact beyond the moment when it happens? A study by science
news in 2010 showed that stereotyping does have a lasting effect on that person, (Science News, 2010). People do not forget and this can cause
damage in their lives and their future decisions. For example, my cousin became pregnant by an African American as a teenager. She was shunned by
certain people in my family, including her father. My grandmother without thinking or meaning to offend the only African American in my small home
town told the man that she had a little mulatto (mixed) great grandchild. Her vocabulary was due to how she was raised and taught the biased word.
Racial stereotyping. In 1933 Katz and Braly did the most famous study on racial stereotypes. They did the study with students at Princeton University.

Student Shootings
On October 1, 2015, Christopher Harper–Mercer walked into Umpqua Community College and shot eighteen people. A week later shootings occurred
at universities in Arizona and Texas leaving two dead. According to a study in 2013, the FBI identified thirty
–nine active shooting cases in educational
settings, and these cases accounted for the highest number of casualties(_). With the threat of active shootings in educational settings, many
universities are trying to increase security on college campuses in order to protect students and staff members. The need for heightened security allows
universities to constantly monitor the activities of students in order to create a safe environment. Many universities, such as Loyola University Chicago,
implement guidelines that aid in controlling students and creating docile individuals. At Loyola University Chicago, it utilizes surveillance cameras and
identification cards to protect students. Moreover, the need for control transcends surveillance for security reasons and is utilized in academics through

Universities attempt to combat the issue through protective means. At Loyola, the use of technology contributes to the protection of students since it
allows for continuous monitoring of the campus. However, the increase in technology also gives the university access into the whereabouts of students
since the methods used to restrict access to facilities only to students. This mode of surveillance makes it easier for the university to establish control
over individuals while protecting the institution. Moreover, indirect surveillance through a rigorous grading system causes students to work efficiently
in order to avoid academic punishment. The methods utilized by Loyola University reflects Foucault's ideas of power because the university places
students under constant observation directly and indirectly thus self–discipline is formed within

Reflection Of The Camino
The Camino Day 1: We left the College on Saturday, the 6th of May. The flight departed at 11:45 and we didn't arrive at Biarritz until 2:50. Then
we got a bus from the airport to St Jean Pied de Port, a small village at the base of the Pyrenees Mountains. When we got to St Jean, I was taken
aback by the town. It was a mixture of old streets and building from centuries ago and modern roads and shops. We had a mass in the local parish
before we got to explore the town. It was late by then so most of the shops were closed, but you still got a feel for the town as we strolled down the
narrow streets. A parade was commencing when we were wandering around that was celebrating the Basque Region's heritage. They were dressed in
their traditional clothes and were waving the Basque flag. I didn't know about the Basque Region's fight for independence before then but Mr.
Mccormack explained it to me. To greatly simplify it, the citizens of the Basque Region believe they shouldn't be members of France and Spain
because they have their own traditions, customs and lifestyles that oppose those of the French and Spanish. After exploring the town we returned to
the hotel, reflected on the day, ate dinner, and then went to bed. Day 2: The second day involved a lot more work than the first. It was also the day
we officially started the Camino. It was a bit different going from sleeping on... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Tough Guise 2
Rationale For my written task 1, I will write a satirical article describing a fraternity at a US university. The subject matter will be mainly about
masculinity, and how it would look if the ideal traits of a masculine person were changed. I will be working with Part One of the English HL course,
specifically under the topic of language and gender. The text that I will be working with will be the documentary that we watched, "Tough Guise 2".
The task is meant to explore masculinity through the lens of Learning Outcome 1.2, which is "Analyze the impact of language changes".To do this, I
am going to change the language and ideas that are generally perpetuated from American University Fraternity culture from chauvinistic and sexually
aggressive to feminist and respectful. The reason that I chose a satire is because I think that some ideas that Fraternities push on to their members and
the public about what it means to be a "real man" are ridiculous. The text type that is most conducive to attacking ridiculous and unbelievable ideas is...

The reason that this Fraternity sticks out so far from the rest is because they skip the traditional fraternal activities such as charity and Community
outreach and instead teach men what they're recalling going to need to live a fulfilling life. Each chapter makes sure to only exemplify the highest
level of masculinity, with activities including mass sexual assault, alcohol poisoning, and even team–building activities like Cocaine trafficking to
really prepare them for the workforce. While some may argue that these activities are not as beneficial to man's future as the altruistic acts that many
run–of–the–mill fraternities execute, SAE would have to disagree, saying that they do real manly things and that those who do good for their
communities are just whiny, pushover babies and not nearly as much of men as those in the SAE

A Research Study On Social Research Methods
METHODS Participants were selected through convenience as well as snowball sampling. The subjects were either students in Dr. Shieva Davarian's
SOCL 109–02 Social Research Methods class or acquaintances of the researchers .The participants that were targeted were between the ages of 17
and 22 and were currently enrolled in a university or secondary education program in the United States of America. In total 25 people responded to
the survey in which there were 17 female respondents, 7 male respondents, and 1 respondent who did not indicate their gender. However for six of the
survey questions some of the participants were excluded due to response error. The study specifically gathered data from Loyola Marymount University

After completing the survey the Likert scale questions were reverse coded, to make one the least likely and five the most likely. At that point the
results for each category were added together to create an average score. The open–ended questions were used to determine a general trend for why
people choose the diets they consume.
RESULTS
Quantitative Looking at Figure 1 we see that respondents tended to buy and consume conventional foods (score of 104 out of 120) and organic
products (score of 101 out of 120) the most, while home grown, gluten free, and vegetarian/vegan products were bought and consumed significantly
less. Similarly in Figure 2, which rates the importance of food choices, respondents drastically preferred organic products (score of 106 out of 120) to
all other types of foods. Ninety–two percent of participants believed that sustainable food costs more than conventional products, and 64% of
participants believed that consuming sustainably should be a mandated practice. However participants had varied responses on who had the greatest
influence on sustainable consumption (see Figure 3). At the top, participants rated communities (score of 79 out of 112), legislation/ governments
(score of 72 out of 112), and individuals/ households (score of 70 out of 112), while food producers and the general public scored slightly lower. When
it came to incorporating sustainability into

Fr. Nicholas: Globalization of Superficiality
Fr. Nicolas has stated that the "globalization of superficiality" refers to the fact that we have more information than ever, but we have less ability to
think, to reflect, and to digest the information we have acquired. As social media has unearthed its profound, and what seems to be, vital place in our
global community, instant communication techniques have become pervasive, which in turn, have caused many public opinions to conclude that
social media discourages deep reflection and engagement. This might be true in some cases; however, social media serves many different
opportunities for connectivity and community, business and marketing, or even entertainment and media coverage. People take to Twitter and other
forms of social media to simply discuss what is going on in the world or in their environments. It is not a place where many people will likely be
comfortable speaking on such deep issues of love or the human mind. Our thought process with social media is just that, social. It is ideal for meeting
new people or discovering and sharing the latest story. I believe from there that deeper reflection and thought can originate.
Time and time again, we see stories that have been transmitted worldwide thanks to social outlets such as Twitter and Facebook. Undoubtedly, due to
social media's influence and technological ease, it is natural for immediate and internal deliberation of a story to become somewhat "superficial."
Granted, society may not critically think about

Personal Narrative Analysis
When I was younger I often felt that I was an outlier, alienated from everybody else because I could speak English and did not have free access to
most forms of communication technology because of the way my parents raised me. I was different from the others, the black sheep of all my
social groups. I felt alone with nobody who could give me a helping hand or a kind word outside of my family. For example, in elementary school I
could not understand much of what my classmates were talking about, whether it was about a new game for the Nintendo DS or an interesting
anime series. Since that was pretty much all they talked about, I had no way to become good friends with any of them. Something was different,
and everything felt wrong. In junior high, I felt alone for things I had that everybody else didn't. I was one of three people in my class who were
willing to speak English, which is strange in a country where most people can barely speak any English. I naturally became best friends with the other
two, but at the same time closed myself off from everybody else. Something was different, and everything felt wrong. I wallowed... Show more content

My Career At Loyola University Chicago
After a long eight months, I can now look back and say that I completed my first year of college. It is safe to say that during that time, life was not
the same as it was in high school. Many adjustments, such as sacrifices and prioritizing had to be made. However, I think that those adjustments had
made me a more accountable student, but more ultimately a better rounded human being. As I am about to enter my second year at Loyola, I am
ready to tackle whatever challenges I may face. I personally feel that I am still a planet's distance away from figuring out who I really am, but I think
that as long as I can keep being the best person I can be, I can accomplish what I want to do during my post–collegiate career. In this essay, I will talk
about my undergraduate career at Loyola University Chicago, emphasizing my field of study, college experience, and my career goals including the
route I plan to take to get there. My current major at Loyola–Chicago is Health Systems Management otherwise known as H.S.M. which as it implies,
revolves around the health–care industry. I was originally an Economics major with the Liberal Arts and Sciences school. At the time, I thought that
Economics was the major for me because I really enjoyed the topic when I was in high school, and I was also into business. I did well in both
semesters; however, I was also interested in learning about the health–care business. I did not know that Loyola had a major focusing on health–care

Commodified Labor Power
Commodified labor power is sustained by personal reproductive and female reproductive labor. Both of these forms of labor are lesser recognized
because they don't directly produce profit...unlike slavery. Slave labor is less recognized by consumers in today's economy because it is the most
extreme exploitation of a human's labor power, and the commodification of humans allows the consumer to delay thinking of where the labor came
from, or ignore it altogether. Individuals laboring as slaves give the most to capitalism with virtually no return. Simultaneously, an abusive industry
grows and its investors profit and thrive from the capital surplus derived from free labor. Slavery exists all around the world and affects everyone from
the clothes they buy to the food they eat. Although the the 13th Amendment to the U.S. constitution abolished slavery, it still allows for it to be used as
a punishment for crime (13th Amendment, 2016). Therefore, inside the United States, any prisoner is subject to involuntary servitude and extreme
exploitation for capital gain.
Capital gain is reliant on exploitation by some means. Social division of labor is imperative to the continuation of human labor exploitation. It coincides
with consumers ignoring the condition of labor behind a product. Even when the exploitation of labor is understood, it's perpetuated by every class'
reliance on manufactured goods. Primitive accumulation, coined by Karl Marx, is a form of exploitation that was critical to the switch from feudalism to
capitalism––it was the process in which people were dispossessed of their personal means of production and forced into wage labor. In "Primitive

As a young child I remember being asked the question: "what do you want to be when you grow up." While I struggled with the answer for many
years, in the course of deep reflection I found that I knew two truths about myself: I loved education, and I gained fulfillment through helping others.
Developing and learning in the course of my four years at Loyola University Chicago, I discovered a passion to pursue a career in higher education.

Going to college and being in a university setting was the first time my perspectives and ideas were broadened. I was able to see the world outside
my small suburb, and learned harsh realities, which I was sheltered from my whole life. Social justice advocate, Bryan Stevenson, expounds the idea
of getting proximate to issues that one cares about. For me, getting proximate was accomplished by being on a university campus, and learning from
the ideas of others, as well as new, first–hand experiences. As I was supported and encouraged in my growth at Loyola, I want to provide the same
assistance for other students. Through my years I have excelled at organization and coordination, skills that I hope to apply in order to help students in
a university setting. More so, I want to help support students who enter college, those who wish to expand their knowledge, viewpoints, and minds.
Higher education would offer me a unique opportunity where I would be able to support students in their growth as a person, while offering

Analysis Of Loyola University Chicago 's Mission Statement
Loyola University Chicago has various opportunities that help engage students in different activities that can help them raise awareness of the outside
world environment. Loyola's mission statement states that "We are Chicago 's Jesuit Catholic university– a diverse community seeking God in all
things and working to expand knowledge in the service of humanity through learning, justice, and faith." Under this statement, students are reminded of
engaging themselves with the community and provide service that can help the community and demonstrate God's faith over all purposes. Through the
commitment of "learning, justice, and faith", as a student, I am inspired to do more as a person for the community. As an international student, I am
very grateful of being able to participate in the Engaged Learning Community of ISOM (Information Systems Operations Management), and earn more
knowledge and awareness of the case study provided in class.
Our Engaged Learning Community group was given the opportunity to participate with The Catholic Charity of Chicago, a group committed to help
the less fortunate and the people with need of income. In accordance to Loyola's mission, Catholic Charities helps the community regardless the
background people seeking for assistance may come from. They are willing to provide assistance through funds, referrals, case managements,
emergency shelter, clothing, food pantry, information on government benefit screening, basic needs, and social services.

He is an agent working for Creative Artists Agency in L.A., he has hit the town with artist like Matthew McConaughey and other many big screen heavyweights. Though he isn't an A–list actor or musician, he's still pretty powerful in Hollywood. Relationship and Married Life Reflecting on the personal life of Toth, he had an affair with an American model, Courtney Robertson. The duo had dated for few months and was separated. After few months backs there were rumors hovering around that Reese and Toth started dating way back in the stone age of 2010. Obviously the news was more than just speculation though, because the couple got engaged by the end of December. A year after the couple got married on March of 2011 at a ranch in Ojai, California, star–studded event. Since then, the two have had one son, Tennessee, together. • 3. How The Stereotypes Associated With My Identity Affect Me I am an African American male who loves to dance, play sports, and rap. I fit into a multitude of stereotypes of an African American male except I have never committed a crime or ever joined a gang. Stereotypes can be true and not necessarily a bad thing; I think it is great I am good at basketball and dancing. However, stereotypes can also be very harmful in our conception of other people. One might see me walking down the street at night and assume I am a thug instead of an Honors student at Loyola Marymount University. I do not want to delve into the topic of how the stereotypes associated with my identity affect me; rather, I would like to analyze the negative effect of the stereotype of the supposedly happy ideal luxurious woman in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The cultural stereotypes around gender are perceived as "inevitable truths rather than stereotypes to be challenged [that] undermine calls for equality between men and women" (Donovan 17). This ignorance causes people to think they only need to look at the surface level when judging a person's value as it relates to gender. What happens when someone's value is reduced to only the stereotype they embody and the clothes they wear? The seemingly happy stereotype of the luxurious woman does just that. The stereotype of the luxurious woman portrays a woman who is extremely wealthy, adorned with jewelry and designer clothing. At first glance, a woman might aspire to live that extravagant lifestyle. The market plays into feeding this stereotype by marketing luxury items "predominantly to women, and women who can afford them invariably become luxury items themselves" (Chocano 110). Almost all the high–end luxury brands like Prada and Tiffany and Co. are regarded as women's brands that also offer a small selection of men's items. The targeting of woman by these brands cause the woman to objectified as only a means to sell their product. The woman wearing all of the clothing becomes a luxury item herself due to how rare it is for her to gain the financial freedom buy the clothes and merely ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Importance Of Social Roles In Education Because of my passion for healthcare, I have numerous social roles relating to the field. Most importantly, I have a social role of being a pre–medical undergraduate student at Loyola University Chicago, a university which is known for their pre–professional health care programs. As a student, I have a social script of educating myself in order to obtain a beneficial career in the future. Through the help of the professors, teacher's assistants, classmates, and tutoring sessions that are present at Loyola, I am able to fulfill my social script of providing myself a sturdy foundation into the medical field. Through these "trainings," I know how to work hard in order to achieve success in my prerequisite classes for medical school. By the social scripts presented to me by the Loyola staff, I make sure that my education is my top priority. Moreover, I have extracurricular activities that help to strengthen my foundation in the healthcare field. This past summer, I volunteered at Northwest Community Hospital where I helped out at the nurses' station of the rehabilitation unit by answering call lights and doctors calls and by paging the appropriate nurses and PCTs (patient care technicians). Furthermore, I volunteered at the Visitor's Entrance front desk where I was able to sign patients in and out, direct them towards the rooms of their loved ones, deliver flowers and other packages, and help discharge the patients. • 5. Personal Assignment : Personal Development Plan Josh Di Nieri Prof. Rubino MGT 360 November 27, 2017 Personal Development Plan I am a pretty well rounded individual although not perfect by any means. Throughout my life, I have always tried my best to be friendly to everyone and optimistic in all situations. I don't think anyone would ever describe me as a critical or aggressive person. I've always been willing to give advice and be encouraging to anyone that I felt needed it. I believe that I am a fairly conscientious person in that I have always been careful and diligent when it comes to work and other life choices. I've always been organized and usually don't act on pure impulse alone. I've never been described as traditional or conventional. I've always been open to new experiences and relish every opportunity that can make me a more well–rounded person. People would also describe me as a fairly intelligent individual with a vivid imagination. My weaknesses, however, would have to include my ability to develop people and team process. I've always been encouraging, but I can improve upon my ability to develop people by providing feedback to individuals on their performances and recognizing individual contributions when I am part of a team. Through this course, I learned that my personality assessment of ENFJ fit me quite well. It described me as an extrovert with intuition, feeling, and judgment. • 6. Thinking Ethically: A Framework for Moral Decision Making Ethical Dilemmas Prompt 1: Often when people disagree, it comes from ideological differences where one person's perception of a situation is in conflict with the views of the person with whom they are arguing. In a regular argument, two factions or more will try to persuade the other person or persons that their perception is the correct one. For example, if a person prefers one political candidate over another, their reasons may be based upon the candidate's opinions correlating with their own. Conflicts of need can appear as well, such as a person needing to arrive at a destination by a certain time while the needs of another person impede the likelihood of that deadline being met. Additionally, conflict of expectation can be found when one person's definition of an idea such as quiet or cleanliness is countered with the perception of another. In each of these cases, there is conflict and argument, but not necessarily ethical considerations. Within any argument, sides will be vying for agreement and this can put a person into conflict when they find themselves between the two opposing sides. This situation is even more disturbing when the conflicting perspectives are within a single individual. Under these circumstances, an ethical dilemma presents itself. The mind has to choose between two potential options each with their own set of benefits and deficits (Loyola Marymount University 2009). In order for a situation to be an ethical dilemma, there must be real ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Laptops : The Way Of The Future? Laptops In The Classroom: The Way Of The Future? Introduction: In the twenty–first century, when almost everyone has a laptop or smartphone, many different perspectives have arisen regarding the use of technology, specifically laptops, in college classrooms. Some people are completely in favor of allowing the use of laptops in the classroom. These people are part of Generation Y, meaning they are young, often in their teenage years or twenties. Others think laptops are too distracting and want them banned. These people tend to be older, and are members of the baby–boomer generation. However, members of Generation X support a solution that lies in the middle: allow laptops in the classroom, but have specific rules on their use put in place. Some schools tend to have stricter rules than others. For example, Bentley College in Massachusetts has a system that lets professors turn off internet access in their classrooms. In contrast, Columbia's business school and Loyola Marymount University's law school take a more relaxed approach. They think that since college students are adults, they should be able to control themselves and use laptops responsibly. Surfing the web during lectures will not lead to a passing grade, and professors at Columbia and Loyola Marymount think students are old enough to realize that. Summary of "The Laptop Ate My Attention Span": Abby Ellin, the author of the article, "The Laptop Ate My Attention Span" believes thatbusiness school students are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Loyola Marymount University Personal Statement Loyola Marymount University has been on my list of colleges ever since I stepped foot onto the campus in 2009. Five years later and my admiration of the school has still not reduced. Personally, I believe that without education, a person doesn't have the ability to become prosperous; education is the key to success. Considering this, a person also has to love what they're doing every day or else they will never be happy. The combination of all these factors leads a person to live their life to the fullest with prosperity, wealth and pleasure. All of these key components are evident in LMU, thus the reason why I am so passionate about attending the campus and adopting the lifestyle of a lion. In addition to the beautiful campus that allows one to imagine they are on a resort instead of a school as well as the intimate student to faculty ratio that gives students the direct attention they need, LMU has a fantastic undergraduate business program that excites me and will prepare me for my future as a possible entrepreneur or lawyer.... The possibility to be creative and thrive in a small and personal academic setting excites me, knowing that I am getting the best education possible while at the same time enjoy my college ... • 9. Explore Oc Position Report Interest: Why are you interested in serving as an EXPLORE OC? What do you believe to be the most important aspects of this position? I am interested in serving as an EXPLORE OC because I would like the opportunity to meet, befriend, and serve as a resource for a small group of incoming freshman. My EXPLORE OCs were wonderful about this. They put their all into the position and made sure that we had a fun and memorable time through humorous ice–breakers, High School Musical karaoke sessions on the bus, awkward selfie postings on Group Me, and countless inside jokes. This, along with being welcoming, open–minded, and approachable are important aspects of this position. Additionally, I appreciate how one of my OCs in particular continued to check in with us from time to time, which I believe to be important to this position as well. As a past participant, I realize how much EXPLORE impacted my college experience. One month ago, if you had asked me what my plans for spring break were, I would have said staying on–campus, but now I'm going to Disney World with two others who were in my EXPLORE track. • 10. Odd Couples By Anna Muraco In Odd Couples, Anna Muraco interviews intersectional friendships between gay men and straight women as well as straight men and lesbian women. The author is an Assistant Professor of Sociology at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles. Muraco is careful to incorporate gender, sexual preferences, and age each time she mentions interviewees. Most of the intersectional friendships involve a gay man and straight woman; however, she makes a great effort to interview friendships between a straight man and lesbian woman, though sometimes these friendships may be difficult to find. The author aims to challenge two large assumptions. The first assumption she confronts is that men and women are fundamentally different. The second assumption is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She then identifies the importance of friendships in general and how these bonds are formed. There is discussion of same–sex, heterosexual friendships and same–sex, same orientation friendships. These topics were the precursor of delving into the discussion of intersectional friendships and how Muraco conducted this study. According to the author, intersectional friendships challenge a variety of social norms. Previous research shows that straight people who are in contact with gay men and lesbians have a favorable attitude towards them; this favorable attitude is meant as in acceptance, not tolerance. Furthermore, most of the dyad friendships interviewed were very close friends, if not best friends. In multiple cases, the gay man was often incorporated into the straight woman's family. The straight women offer to be a surrogate mother before they themselves are married and trying for children of her own. On the contrary, Muraco further explains the stereotype that all gay couples want children. Another way that these friendships are beneficial to the individual is that they provide great financial support for each other, which is usually a familial function. The media tends to depict these intersectional friendships generally as gay men and straight women that are the best of friends who go shopping and clubbing together. Though this gender norm was common within the study, there are still other friendships that are regularly overlooked. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Chino Hills' season ended Tuesday, March 14 in the second round of State CIF against Bishop Montgomery. The Huskies finished with a very impressive 30–3 record. • 12. Loyola Marymount University Personal Statement I am very impressed with what the honors program has to offer at Loyola Marymount University, and hope that you will consider me to be a part of it. I am happy with the strong curriculum that LMU provides to all its students, but I would like to take a step further and participate in the interdisciplinary learning and the unique experience that the honors program has to offer. I hope to be pushed and challenged by the program to be able to reach my full potential. I would like to evolve creatively and intellectually through the courses, and I think that honors education will emphasize the importance of challenging my beliefs and looking at all points of view. I really enjoy classes such as Model UN and history, because they allow me to analyze issues that affect the past, present, and future, which is why I am drawn to the community aspect of LMU's honors program. At the same time, companies are seeking to better understand the extent to which social media can and should play a role in customer engagement (Parent, Plangger, and Bal 2011). Our knowledge regarding social media–driven brand–consumer engagement and what constitutes effective social media strategy is only now developing. Although both industry and academic research has begun to examine the role of social media within firm–customer interactions, there is a continued need for empirical investigation of usage characteristics and behaviors with respect to social media and online brand engagement, particularly among younger consumers. Accordingly, our study investigates the role of social media among younger consumers as they actively engage online with brands spanning the product, service, and media sectors. We administered a written diary to fifty–eight individuals over a one–week period in late Fall 2011. Diary data captured background information on social media usage and recorded 406 discrete company–respondent interactions across two primary social media platforms–Facebook and Twitter–as well as email. Email interactions were included in the study because this form of

One thing that I learned from the concert was that guitar is really something that brings people together because there were quite a lot of people in attendance. I observed that both guitarists never really looked at their music sheets when they played. They seem to have memorized the pieces that they were playing and were playing off muscle memory, which is incredible. My impression of the concert was that it was excellent. There is no better example of this love than the recent scandal of Antoine Turner. Turner is a college student who has just signed with Boise State University's football team. Many argue that college athletes should not be paid because attending America's top universities on scholarship is payment enough. People wonder where the money to pay these athletes is going to come from. Many schools do not have the money in their budgets to operate without student fees and investors, so finding the money to pay hundred or thousands of athletes would throw many budgets out of balance. Students question the equality of a student to a student athlete. Student athletes even question how equal individual sports are. Kristi Dosh of SportsMoney magazine questions, "How much do you pay players? Is it one set amount for every athlete no matter what the sport or the school in order to keep things fair?" (Dosh 2). • 20. Saint Ignatius Of Loyola Personal Writings The book, Saint Ignatius of Loyola Personal Writings, was translated by Joseph A. Munitiz and Philip Endean and first published in 1996. This book contains many aspects of St. Ignatius' life, from his reminiscences to his spiritual exercises. Inigo Lopez de Loyola was born in 1491 in Spain, the youngest of 13 children. Inigo became a soldier at the age of 18 and began to refer to himself at Ignatius. Ignatius becomes a man obsessed with his image and a life of luxury until his conversion into a devout catholic. Saint Ignatius of Loyola Personal Writings tells the story of St. Ignatius' early life obsessed with his image, and his transformation into his ultimate obsession with living a life dedicated to Christ, that I believe may have interfered with his growing relationship with God. St. Ignatius lived his life in vain. He was too concerned with his outward appearance, and his reputation among others. In battle, his legs were badly injured. Even through the excruciating pain, he made an effort to show no outer sign of discomfort. When his legs had healed, one leg was left with an unsightly misconfiguration from the healing of the bones. He underwent another, even more, painful surgery to fix his outer appearance. During his long recovery, St. Ignatius read about the life of Christ and the saints. As he learned more about the holy lives of the saints, St. Ignatius was converted and was determined to live a life the way Christ and the saints did. After St. Ignatius was ... • 21. Intellectual Studies : Jesuit Identity And Cura Personalis Jesuit Identity and Cura Personalis While attending a Jesuit University, students will be faced with many different challenges throughout their intellectual studies. Students will be given the opportunity to be able to develop the Jesuit principles of cura personalis, Magis, and the Unity of Heart, Mind and Soul; they will be able to do this through the core of mission, vision, and values. Cura personalis is rooted from the ancient Latin phrase, "caring for the person", but by far has more meaning than one could ever possibly think. Magis takes the part of being "more" and simply striving for nothing less than greatness. The Unity of Heart, Mind, and Soul develops the whole person, by integrating all aspects of our individual lives. Additionally, the only effect that could possible hinder the Jesuit principles which include the body, mind, and soul of any individual who obtains it, would be social media. Social media has truly changed the human perception of who we should be, rather than who we truly are due to the culture it upholds. Individuals tend to hide who they are, due to weakness and vulnerabilities without realization. The Jesuit values encourages the individual to have courage and to overcome the difficulties in life. This in turn, allows a person to grow and develop. Nonetheless, social media poses a challenge to individuals in that it shapes the way a person learns, teaches, and views the world. Whether people want to admit it everyone has stereotyped at one point in their life. I know I am guilty of it. This can happen without the person even knowing that they are doing it. How a person is raised and their families beliefs growing up can impact their beliefs. So one of the important questions to answer is does being stereotyped have a lasting impact beyond the moment when it happens? A study by science news in 2010 showed that stereotyping does have a lasting effect on that person, (Science News, 2010). People do not forget and this can cause damage in their lives and their future decisions. For example, my cousin became pregnant by an African American as a teenager. She was shunned by certain people in my family, including her father. My grandmother without thinking or meaning to offend the only African American in my small home town told the man that she had a little mulatto (mixed) great grandchild. • 29. Fr. Nicholas: Globalization of Superficiality Fr. Nicolas has stated that the "globalization of superficiality" refers to the fact that we have more information than ever, but we have less ability to think, to reflect, and to digest the information we have acquired. As social media has unearthed its profound, and what seems to be, vital place in our global community, instant communication techniques have become pervasive, which in turn, have caused many public opinions to conclude that social media discourages deep reflection and engagement. This might be true in some cases; however, social media serves many different opportunities for connectivity and community, business and marketing, or even entertainment and media coverage. People take to Twitter and other forms of social media to simply discuss what is going on in the world or in their environments. It is not a place where many people will likely be comfortable speaking on such deep issues of love or the human mind. Our thought process with social media is just that, social. It is ideal for meeting new people or discovering and sharing the latest story. I believe from there that deeper reflection and thought can originate. Time and time again, we see stories that have been transmitted worldwide thanks to social outlets such as Twitter and Facebook. Undoubtedly, due to social media's influence and technological ease, it is natural for immediate and internal deliberation of a story to become somewhat "superficial." • 33. Commodified Labor Power Commodified labor power is sustained by personal reproductive and female reproductive labor. Both of these forms of labor are lesser recognized because they don't directly produce profit...unlike slavery. Slave labor is less recognized by consumers in today's economy because it is the most extreme exploitation of a human's labor power, and the commodification of humans allows the consumer to delay thinking of where the labor came from, or ignore it altogether. Individuals laboring as slaves give the most to capitalism with virtually no return. Simultaneously, an abusive industry grows and its investors profit and thrive from the capital surplus derived from free labor. Slavery exists all around the world and affects everyone from the clothes they buy to the food they eat. Although the the 13th Amendment to the U.S. constitution abolished slavery, it still allows for it to be used as a punishment for crime (13th Amendment, 2016). Therefore, inside the United States, any prisoner is subject to involuntary servitude and extreme exploitation for capital gain. Capital gain is reliant on exploitation by some means. Social division of labor is imperative to the continuation of human labor exploitation. It coincides with consumers ignoring the condition of labor behind a product. Even when the exploitation of labor is understood, it's perpetuated by every class' reliance on manufactured goods. The early years in my life were characterized by my childhood community in the western suburbs of Chicago. My hometown was very sheltered with little diversity. Higher education would offer me a unique opportunity where I would be able to support students in their growth as a person, while offering encouragement and assistance to students throughout their college ... Analysis Of Loyola University Chicago 's Mission Statement Loyola University Chicago has various opportunities that help engage students in different activities that can help them raise awareness of the outside world environment. Loyola's mission statement states that "We are Chicago 's Jesuit Catholic university– a diverse community seeking God in all things and working to expand knowledge in the service of humanity through learning, justice, and faith." Under this statement, students are reminded of engaging themselves with the community and provide service that can help the community and demonstrate God's faith over all purposes. Through the commitment of "learning, justice, and faith", as a student, I am inspired to do more as a person for the community. As an international student, I am very grateful of being able to participate in the Engaged Learning Community of ISOM (Information Systems Operations Management), and earn more knowledge and awareness of the case study provided in class. Our Engaged Learning Community group was given the opportunity to participate with The Catholic Charity of Chicago, a group committed to help the less fortunate and the people with need of income. In accordance to Loyola's mission, Catholic Charities helps the community regardless the background people seeking for assistance may come from.
