1) Scheduling and timing were challenges during film production due to availability issues with cast and crew. Weather and noisy locations also caused delays.
2) The shooting schedule and storyboard were not detailed enough initially, which caused problems during filming. More planning is needed upfront for future productions.
3) Replacing crew members last minute due to no-shows was disruptive, highlighting the need for more reliable team members. Equipment issues also wasted time.

Film Production Evaluation
1. Evaluation
I have learntthatthe whenorganisingandmanaginga filmproductionyouhave toaware of
scheduling, timingandlocations. WhenmakingafilmproductionIhadto be aware of scheduling
problems, whenwe were filmingwe hadacouple problemswithpeople notbeingable tofilmon
certaindates, sowe plannedthe filmingscheduleaweekaheadtomake sure that people always
made space to shoot the film.We endedupspendingmore time onproductionthenwe initially
thoughtso we had to make sure we stuckto the scriptand referredbacktothe schedule tomake
sure we had it done before the due date.Alsowe realisedthatwe might needtogodeeperintoour
researchon locationstomake sure we avoidthe weatherandotherpeople interferingwithourfilm
productionaswe had bad weatheronone day butgood weatheronanotherday, but the location
was tooclose to the road so we had excessbackgroundnoisesbeingrecordedfromcarsetc.
Ourshootingschedule wasn’ttoodetailedatfirst,butthenwe realisedthatitwasn’tdetailed
enoughforus to workwith, sowe wentdeeperintomakingita more reliable scripttofollow,we
shouldhave focusedonthe timingof the schedule more butfromthenonwe followeditand
eventuallygottoa good qualityfilm. Nexttime we will make sure thatwe finishthe shooting
schedule alittle earliersothatwe can make sure that everyone shows upontime withall the
equipmentworking.
Ourstoryboardwasn’tdetailedenough,butthatwasbecause we didn’thave enoughtime todoa
thoroughstoryboard because we hadto start filmingsoon, sowe decidedtofollow the roughdraft
storyboardand gotthe directorandthe rest of the crew suggestinghow we couldcarryon the story,
but the storyboardwe usedhadall the mainsceneswe neededtoshoot howeverwe didn’tendwith
a 5-10 minute film, sonexttime we couldmake more of a storyboardmakingitmore detailedsowe
couldmake the filmhitthe target length.
Ourshot listwascorrect and putin the rightorder forthe differentscenesanditalsohadall the
necessaryshots, butthe shotlistneededtohave more linkingshotsincludedin it,thiswaywe could
have savedtime bygettingall the shotsdone quicklywithouthavingtoshootextralinkingshots
afterwardstomake sure that it made sense whenthe viewerswere watchingit. We recordedall the
extrashotswe neededbutithad a penaltytoour time andschedule. Nexttime recordingwe could
make the shot listmore detailedexplaininghow toshootthe scenesandalsoaddmore shotsto add
a bit of variety.
Cliffordwasincharge of doingthe recce andhe haddone a good recce on the locationbecause
he usedhisphone to capture the differentshotsandnoisespickedup, butunfortunatelyhe had
recce’dthe chosenlocationata time where there waspeace andquiet, whenwe were filmingitwas
busyand there wasa lot of noise that he didn’tpickupin the recce. We hadsentemailstothe
council regardingthemallowinguspermissiontofilmourproductionnearthe publicparkspathway.
Nexttime we will choose alocationwhichhaslesswindandlessdisturbance ingeneral whichwill
make our shortfilmbetterintermsof quality.
Everyone inthe crewknewwhattheyhadto do and whattheywere responsible for,but
unfortunately1of the actors didn’thelpwiththe filming,butluckilywe hadfoundareplacement,
alsoLiam whowas supposedtobe the camera mandidn’tshow up,so we had himreplacedtoo, but
we were able tofindreplacementsquicksowe weren’teffectedtoomuchbythisproblemduring
the filming. Nexttime we willhave tomake sure thatthe people inthe crew are certaintheywill be
able to helporwe couldjust pickmore reliable people.
2. We didn’tcheckthe camera the firsttime we were filming, the camerawouldjustturna black
screenwhenswitchedonbutwe learntfromour mistake andwe checkedour equipmentbefore
headingoutto filmafterthatproblem. Nexttime we film, before we beginfilmingwe willhave to
checkall the equipmenttomake sure itworksproperlytoavoidany disturbancesinourproduction
process.
Call sheetshelpedoutinourproductionbecause ithelpedpeople show upontime andmade
sure everyone wasdoingtheirjob, butsome peoplewouldshow up10 or 20 minuteslate becauseof

will needtomake sure theyleave ontime ora bitearliersotheycan make sure theymake the bus.
Nexttime the call sheetwill have tobe more detailedandwe have tomake sure that nobodygetsin
the way of our short filmproduction.
InconclusionIthinkthat the managementof the productionwasweakbecause we were
improvinganda lotof itwas lastminute decisionsmakingalotof room for thingswe couldimprove
on.Nexttime we will have tomake sure we don’trushthe pre-productionprocessandmake all the
documentsdetailedenoughsothatit isclear toall the membersof the groupwhattheyhave to do
and howtheycouldgo aboutdoingit, thisway we can avoiddelaysandany problemswe hadthe
firsttime roundand make the secondfilmingmuchbetternextyear.Iwashavinga bad weeksoas a
producerI will have tobe more effective inorganisingandmanaginginthe filmsproduction.
