10. The Fallout Facebook Phil: If Helford is not 70% 2nd homes where is everyone whenever I'm there (at least a few times a week normally), but the 2nd home owner thing is not the main point, I spend most of my free time on the river and of course would prefer it if there was no jetty, no more houses, and less boats as the whole thing is getting crowded. But it is a working river, the fishermen need somewhere to land heavy loads nets etc, and planning permission has been granted following years of debate. Editorial Comment by CPRE Cornwall: (Plan rejection in High Court) This is certainly a very welcome decision and it is to be hoped that all interested parties will now get together in order to reach an acceptable compromise. "Everybody who knows Helford and this part of Cornwall well and who cares about the future of this wonderful part of the World will be very pleased that His Honour Judge Michael Kay QC has quashed the Helford Jetty planning permission. The court has decided that by granting planning permission the Council had failed to impose essential environmental safeguards as required by Natural England" .
