Human society was built upon our ability to communicate with one another whether it be through
verbal or nonverbal means. Without communication, we as a species would've most likely never
reached the place we are as a society today. Most people believe that verbal communication is what
has brought us so far but in fact, we as a race have been using a melding of both verbal and
nonverbal means to communicate with on another. These means are usually comprised ofgestures
that we all use throughout our daily lives.

Therefore they are always quick to the punch with their words but without even listening or
processing what the other person has said. This is a hard mountain to get over for some people and
that is why I believe it is the hardest skill to obtain.

The communication within my relationship with my father has become an issue over the many
years. I would label this relationship as an passive aggressive relationship, where feelings or
thoughts are never really discussed but are displayed by anger or nothing at all. My dad and I have a
history of nonverbal communication. In my opinion my dad seems to think everything he says and
does is right but, from my perspective it seems to me like he just can't grasp the fact that he's not
right all the time. I feel as though he wants to control everyone and it negatively impacts the the
people in his life. How my dad communicates is an big issue in my family and within this project I
want to improve the way I communicate with my father in order to allow him to see that the way
he communicates is unacceptable. I want to improve this area because I want him to see that his
passive aggressiveness and unclearness pushes his family away from him. Since he's passive
aggressive i try not to express how i feel as well, its not that I can't express my feelings its that my
dad makes it seems like when I speak up i'm disrespectful and when I do speak up its like nothings
changed with him. I feel as though my dad and I are at the stagnating stage in our relationship, I've
opened up to him about many issues but he doesn't seem to fully grasp anything. I want this project
to help me understand why my dad and maybe even men in general can't speak their mind and voice
